Yohane 11
1 Ɔbarima bi tenaa ase wɔ Betania a na wɔfrɛ no Lasaro. Betania yi yɛ kuro a na Maria ne ne nua Marta firi mu. Ɛda bi, saa ɔbarima yi yareeɛ.
Now a certain [man] was sick, [named] Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 Saa Maria yi a ne nuabarima ne Lasaro a na ɔyare no, ɔno na ɔhwiee ngo guu Awurade nan ase de ne tirinwi pepaeɛ no.
(It was [that] Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Anuanom yi soma kɔɔ Yesu nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Awurade, wo dɔfoɔ no yare.”
Therefore his sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 Yesu tee nkra no, ɔkaa sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ saa yadeɛ yi na ɛbɛkum Lasaro. Mmom, Onyankopɔn pɛ sɛ ɔfa saa yadeɛ yi so hyɛ ne ho animuonyam, na saa animuonyam yi bi nso ka Onipa Ba no.”
When Jesus heard [that], he said, This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it.
5 Na Yesu pɛ Maria ne ne nuabaa Marta ne Lasaro asɛm yie.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 Ɛberɛ a Yesu tee nkra sɛ Lasaro yare dendeenden no, wankɔ saa ɛberɛ no ara mu; ɔtenaa hɔ nnanu.
When therefore he had heard that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Afei, ɔka kyerɛɛ nʼasuafoɔ no sɛ, “Momma yɛnsane nkɔ Yudea.”
Then after that he saith to [his] disciples, Let us ho into Judea again.
8 Nanso, asuafoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ, ɛnkyɛree biara na Yudafoɔ no pɛɛ sɛ wɔsi wo aboɔ ɛnna afei wose yɛnsane nkɔ hɔ bio yi?”
[His] disciples say to him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Yesu kaa sɛ, “Nnɔnhwere dumienu na ɛwɔ da koro mu, meboa anaa? Ɛno enti, sɛ obi nam hann mu a, ɔrensunti, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔnam ewiase hann mu.
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walketh in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 Nanso, sɛ ɔnam anadwo sum mu a, ɔbɛsunti, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔnam sum mu.”
But if a man walketh in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 Yesu sane kaa sɛ, “Yɛn adamfo Lasaro ada na merekɔ akɔnyane no.”
These things he said: and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Asuafoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ Yesu sɛ, “Awurade, sɛ wada deɛ a, ɛnneɛ na ne ho bɛtɔ no.”
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleepeth he will do well.
13 Na Yesu kyerɛ sɛ Lasaro awu, nanso asuafoɔ no deɛ, na wɔsusu sɛ nna ara na wada.
Now Jesus spoke of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking rest in sleep.
14 Ɛno enti, Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn pefee sɛ, “Lasaro awu;
Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 nanso mo enti, ɛyɛ me anigye sɛ na menni hɔ sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a mobɛgye adi. Momma yɛnkɔ ne nkyɛn.”
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go to him.
16 Toma a wɔfrɛ no Ata no ka kyerɛɛ ne mfɛfoɔ asuafoɔ no sɛ, “Momma yɛne Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ no nyinaa nkɔ na yɛne no nkɔwu.”
Then said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Yesu duruu Betania no, na Lasaro awu ma wɔasie no ma adi nnanan.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Ɛfiri Betania rekɔ Yerusalem no nnuru akwansini mmienu,
(Now Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs distant.)
19 na saa ɛberɛ no, na Yudafoɔ bebree aba Marta ne Maria nkyɛn sɛ wɔrebɛgyam wɔn wɔ wɔn nua no wuo no ho.
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Marta tee sɛ Yesu reba no, ɔfirii adi kɔhyiaa no, na Maria deɛ, ɔtenaa efie.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat in the house.
21 Marta ka kyerɛɛ Yesu sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, sɛ wowɔ ha a, anka me nua no anwu!
Then said Martha to Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 Menim mpo sɛ saa ɛberɛ yi mu biribiara a wobɛbisa Onyankopɔn sɛ ɔnyɛ mma wo no, ɔbɛyɛ.”
But I know that even now, whatever thou wilt ask of God, God will give [it] thee.
23 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Wo nua no bɛsane anya nkwa bio.”
Jesus saith to her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Marta buaa no sɛ, “Awurade, menim sɛ owusɔreɛ da no ɔno nso bɛsɔre.”
Martha saith to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Me na menyane awufoɔ ma wɔn nkwa. Obiara a ɔgye me di no, sɛ wawu mpo a, ɔbɛsane anya nkwa.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this? (aiōn g165)
27 Marta buaa sɛ, “Awurade, megye medi. Megye medi sɛ wone Kristo Agyenkwa a ɔne Onyankopɔn Ba a ɔreba ewiase no.”
She saith to him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.
28 Marta kaa saa asɛm yi wieeɛ no, ɔkɔfrɛɛ ne nua Maria de no kɔɔ kɔkoam ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ no aba na wabisa wʼase.”
And when she had so said, she went and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 Maria tee saa asɛm yi no, ɔyɛɛ ntɛm kɔhyiaa Yesu.
As soon as she heard [that], she arose quickly, and came to him.
30 Saa ɛberɛ no na Yesu mmɛduruu akuraa no ase hɔ. Na ɔda so wɔ faako a Marta hyiaa no hɔ no.
Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ a wɔwɔ efie hɔ regyam Maria no hunuu sɛ wasɔre ɔherɛ so refiri adi no, wɔdii nʼakyi, ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔsusu sɛ ɔrekɔ da no so akɔsu.
The Jews then who were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary that she rose hastily, and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth to the grave to weep there.
32 Maria duruu faako a Yesu wɔ no, ɔtotoo ne nan ase kaa sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, sɛ wowɔ ha, a anka me nua no anwu.”
Then when Mary had come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 Yesu hunuu sɛ Maria ne Yudafoɔ a wɔka ne ho no resu no, ɛhaa no yie na ne werɛ hoeɛ.
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled;
34 Ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Ɛhe na mosiee no?” Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Awurade, bra na yɛnkɔkyerɛ wo.”
And said, Where have ye laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see.
35 Yesu suiɛ.
Jesus wept.
36 Yudafoɔ no hunuu sɛ ɔresu no, wɔkaa sɛ, “Yei kyerɛ ɔdɔ a ɔde dɔ no.”
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 Wɔn mu bi kaa sɛ, “Onipa a ɔmaa onifirani hunuu adeɛ no, monnnye nni sɛ anka ɔbɛtumi agye Lasaro nkwa anaa?”
And some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Asɛm a nkurɔfoɔ no kaeɛ no maa Yesu werɛ hoeɛ. Afei, ɔkɔɔ ɛda a wɔde ɛboɔ ahini ano no so.
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself, cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Yesu hyɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monyi ɛboɔ a ɛhini ɛda no ano no.” Marta a ɔyɛ owufoɔ no nuabaa no kaa sɛ, “Awurade, ɛbɛyɛ nna ɛnan ni a yɛbɛsiee no enti saa ɛberɛ yi deɛ, ɛbɔn.”
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith to him, Lord, by this time his body is offensive: for he hath been [dead] four days.
40 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ Marta sɛ, “Manka ankyerɛ wo sɛ, sɛ wogye di a wobɛhunu Onyankopɔn animuonyam?”
Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Wɔyii ɛboɔ no firii ɛda no ano. Afei, Yesu hwɛɛ ɛsoro, bɔɔ mpaeɛ sɛ, “Agya, meda wo ase sɛ wotie me.
Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me:
42 Menim sɛ wotie me daa nyinaa, nanso ɛsiane nnipa a wɔwɔ ha enti na mereka yei sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a, wɔbɛgye adi sɛ wo na wosomaa me.”
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand by, I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Ɔkaa yei wieeɛ no, ɔteaam denden sɛ, “Lasaro, sɔre bra!”
And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 Lasaro sɔre baeɛ a ntoma a wɔde kyekyeree ne nsa ne ne nan ne nʼanim no da so kyekyere no. Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monsane ne ho ntoma no na ɔnkɔ.”
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith to them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Yudafoɔ a wɔbɛsraa Maria na wɔhunuu deɛ Yesu yɛeɛ no mu bebree gyee no diiɛ.
Then many of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 Na wɔn mu bi nso kɔɔ Farisifoɔ no hɔ kɔkaa deɛ ɛsiiɛ no nyinaa kyerɛɛ wɔn.
But some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Enti Farisifoɔ no ne asɔfoɔ mpanin no hyiaa badwafoɔ no kaa sɛ, “Ɛdeɛn na yɛnyɛ? Monhwɛ anwanwadeɛ a saa onipa yi reyɛ!
Then the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and said, What do we? for this man performeth many miracles.
48 Sɛ yɛma ɔkɔ so yɛ deɛ ɔreyɛ yi a, nnipa nyinaa bɛgye no adi na wɔadi nʼakyi. Sɛ ɛba saa a, Roma aban bɛbisa yɛn asɛm na wasɛe yɛn asɔredan ne ɔman mu yi nyinaa.”
If we let him thus alone, all [men] will believe on him: and the Romans will come, and take away both our place and nation.
49 Kaiafa a saa ɛberɛ no na ɔyɛ ɔsɔfopanin no kaa sɛ, “Mo deɛ, monnim hwee!
And one of them, [named] Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Monnim sɛ ɛyɛ ma mo sɛ onipa baako bɛwu ama nnipa no nyinaa sene sɛ wɔbɛsɛe ɔman mu no nyinaa?”
Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 Ɛmfiri ɔno ankasa ne tumi mu na ɔkaa saa asɛm yi, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛsiane sɛ na ɔyɛ ɔsɔfopanin saa ɛberɛ no enti na ɔhyɛɛ nkɔm sɛ, “Yesu bɛwu de agye mo nkwa,”
And this he spoke not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 na ɛnyɛ wɔn nko, na mmom, ɛnam yei so bɛma Onyankopɔn mma a wɔabɔ ahwete no nyinaa ano aboa, na wɔayɛ ɔman baako.
And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Ɛfiri saa ɛberɛ no, Yudafoɔ mpanin no faa adwene sɛ wɔbɛkum Yesu.
Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.
54 Yei enti, Yesu anyi ne ho adi wɔ Yudea, na ɔfirii hɔ kɔɔ ɛserɛ so kuro bi a wɔfrɛ no Efraim ne nʼasuafoɔ no kɔtenaa hɔ.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence to a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 Na Yudafoɔ Twam Afahyɛ no rebɛn enti nnipa pii fifirii wɔn nkuraaseɛ kɔɔ Yerusalem sɛ wɔrekɔdwira wɔn ho de atwɛn afahyɛ no.
And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Na wɔrehwehwɛ Yesu ahunu no. Ɛno enti, wɔduruu asɔredan mu hɔ no, wɔbisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Mogye di sɛ Yesu bɛba afahyɛ yi bi anaa?” Ebinom kaa sɛ, “Yɛnnye nni.”
Then they sought for Jesus, and spoke among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Saa ɛberɛ yi na asɔfoɔ mpanin ne Farisifoɔ no ahyɛ sɛ, sɛ obi nim baabi a Yesu wɔ a, ɔnkyerɛ na wɔnkɔkye no.
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show [it], that they might take him.
