< Yoɛl 2 >
1 Hyɛn totorobɛnto no wɔ Sion; hyɛn abɛn no wɔ me bepɔ kronkron no so. Ma wɔn a wɔte asase no so nyinaa ho mpopo, ɛfiri sɛ Awurade ɛda no reba, na abɛn koraa.
Blow the trumpet in Zion, wail on my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land be stirred up. For the day of the Lord is on its way; for it is near:
2 Esum ne kusukuukuu ɛda. Omununkum ne esum kabii ɛda. Sɛdeɛ adekyeeɛ hann trɛtrɛ wɔ mmepɔ so no, saa ara na asraadɔm a wɔ dɔɔso na wɔyɛ den ba no teɛ. Wɔnhunuu wɔn sɛso bi da, na wɔrenhunu ne sɛso nso da.
a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and whirlwinds. Like the morning reaching over the mountains, they are a numerous and strong people. Nothing like them has existed since the beginning, nor will exist after them, even in the years of generation upon generation.
3 Egya rehye wɔ wɔn anim, ogyaframa dɛre wɔ wɔn akyi, asase a ɛda wɔn anim no te sɛ Eden turo, deɛ ɛda wɔn akyi no te sɛ anweatam, biribiara nni hɔ a ɛpa wɔn ani so.
Before their face is a devouring fire, and behind them is a burning flame. The land before them is like a lush garden, and behind them is a desolate desert, and there is no one who can escape them.
4 Wɔte sɛ apɔnkɔ. Wɔhurihuri te sɛ apɔnkɔsotefoɔ asraadɔm.
Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, and they will rush forward like horsemen.
Like the sound of a four-horse chariot, they will leap over the tops of the mountains. Like the sound of a burning flame devouring stubble, they are as a strong people prepared for battle.
6 Aman ani bɔ wɔn so a, ehu bɔ wɔn; na wɔn anim to hoa.
Before their face, the people will be tortured; each one’s appearance will retreat, as if into a jar.
7 Wɔko kɔ wɔn anim te sɛ akofoɔ; wɔforo afasuo te sɛ asraafoɔ na wɔn nyinaa kɔ wɔn anim tee, na wɔmmane benkum anaa nifa.
They will rush forward, as if they were strong. Like valiant warriors, they will ascend the wall. The men will advance, each one on his own way, and they will not turn aside from their path.
8 Obiara ntwintwane ɔfoforɔ anan mu; obiara nante kɔ nʼanim tee. Wɔbu fa banbɔeɛ so, na wɔpem kɔ wɔn anim ara.
And each one will not hem in his brother; every one will walk in his own rough path. Moreover, they will drop through the breach and not be harmed.
9 Wɔto hyɛ kuropɔn no so wɔtu mmirika fa afasuo no so wɔforo kɔ afie mu, wɔfa mpoma mu te sɛ akorɔmfoɔ.
They will advance into the city; they will rush through the wall. They will scale the houses; they will go in through the windows, like a thief.
10 Asase woso wɔ wɔn anim, na ɔsoro hinhim. Owia ne ɔsrane duru sum, na nsoromma nnhyerɛn bio.
Before their face, the earth has trembled, the heavens have been moved. The sun and moon have been obscured, and the stars have retracted their splendor.
11 Awurade bobom de di nʼasraadɔm no anim. Nʼakodɔm no dɔɔso bebree, ahoɔdenfoɔ ne wɔn a wɔdi nʼahyɛdeɛ so. Awurade ɛda no yɛ kɛseɛ na ɛyɛ hu; hwan na ɔbɛtumi agyina ano?
And the Lord has bestowed his voice before the face of his army. For its military camps are very numerous; for they are strong and they carry out his word. For the day of the Lord is great and so very terrible, and who can withstand it?
12 “Na afei,” sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie, “Sane fa wʼakoma nyinaa bra me nkyɛn, wɔ akɔnkyene, esu ne awerɛhoɔ mu.”
Now, therefore, the Lord says: “Be converted to me with your whole heart, in fasting and weeping and mourning.”
13 Sunsuane wʼakoma na ɛnnyɛ wo ntadeɛ mu. Sane bra Awurade wo Onyankopɔn nkyɛn, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔyɛ ɔdomfoɔ, ne yam yɛ. Ne bo kyɛre fu na ne dɔ boro so, na ɛnnyɛ no anigye sɛ ɔtwe yɛn aso.
And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and convert to the Lord your God. For he is gracious and merciful, patient and full of compassion, and steadfast despite ill will.
14 Hwan na ɔnim? Ebia ɔbɛsesa nʼadwene na wahunu mmɔbɔ na wagya nhyira, a ɛyɛ aduane ne hwiesa afɔrebɔdeɛ a mode ma Awurade mo Onyankopɔn no.
Who knows if he might convert and forgive, and bequeath a blessing after him, a sacrifice and a libation to the Lord your God?
15 Hyɛn totorobɛnto wɔ Sion! Mommɔ akɔnkyene kronkron ho dawuro, momfrɛ nhyiamu kronkron.
Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call an assembly.
16 Mommoaboa nnipa no ano monte nhyiamu no ho na ɛnyɛ kronkron; mommoaboa mpanimfoɔ, mmɔfra ne mmaa a wɔrema nufoɔ ano Ma ayeforɔ ne ayeforɔkunu mfiri wɔn pia mu mmra.
Gather the people, sanctify the church, unite the elders, gather together the little ones and infants at the breast. Let the bridegroom depart from his bed, and the bride from her bridal chamber.
17 Asɔfoɔ a wɔsom wɔ Awurade anim no, nsu wɔ afɔrebukyia no ne abrannaa no ntam; na wɔn nka sɛ, “Awurade fa wo nkurɔfoɔ ho kyɛ wɔn. Mma wʼagyapadeɛ nnyɛ ahohoradeɛ anaa fɛdideɛ wɔ aman no mu. Adɛn enti na ɛsɛ sɛ wobisa wɔ nnipa no mu sɛ, ‘Wɔn Onyame no wɔ he?’”
Between the vestibule and the altar, the priests, the ministers of the Lord, will weep, and they will say: “Spare, O Lord, spare your people. And do not bequeath your inheritance into disgrace, so that the nations would rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
18 Na Awurade bɛtwe ninkunu wɔ nʼasase ho na ne nkurɔfoɔ ayɛ no mmɔbɔ.
The Lord has been zealous for his land, and he has spared his people.
19 Awurade bɛbua sɛ, “Merebrɛ mo aduane, nsã foforɔ ne ngo, a ɛbɛso mo ama mo amee pintinn. Merenyɛ mo ahohoradeɛ mma aman no bio.
And the Lord responded, and he said to his people: “Behold, I will send you grain and wine and oil, and you will again be filled with them. And I will no longer give you disgrace among the Gentiles.
20 “Mɛpam atifi fam asraadɔm no afiri wo nkyɛn akɔ akyirikyiri, mɛpia wɔn akɔ asase a awoɔ na ɛyɛ bonini soɔ. Adonten dɔm no bɛmem wɔ apueeɛ ɛpo no mu, na kyidɔm no bɛmem wɔ Mfimfini Po no mu. Na afunu no bɛbɔn na nka no bɛtu.” Nokorɛm wayɛ nneɛma akɛseɛ.
And he who is from the North, I will drive far from you. And I will expel him into an impassable land, and into the desert, with his face opposite the Eastern sea, and his furthest part towards the furthest sea. And his stench will ascend, and his rottenness will ascend, because he has acted arrogantly.
21 Monnsuro, me nkurɔfoɔ! Momma mo ani nnye, na monsɛpɛ mo ho. Nokorɛm Awurade ayɛ nneɛma akɛseɛ.
Earth, do not be afraid. Exult and rejoice. For the Lord has great esteem for what he has done.
22 Monnsuro, mo wiram mmoa! Ɛfiri sɛ ɛserɛ so adidibea reyɛ frɔmm. Nnua no reso wɔn aba; borɔdɔma ne bobe nso reso wɔn aba.
Animals of the countryside, do not be afraid. For the beauty of the wilderness has sprung forth. For the tree has borne its fruit. The fig tree and the vine have bestowed their virtue.
23 Momma mo ani nnye, mo Sion mma, Mo nni ahurisi wɔ Awurade mo Onyankopɔn mu, ɛfiri sɛ watɔ nsuo ama mo, ne nokorɛdie enti. Watɔ nsuo bebree ama mo wɔ ne berɛ mu te sɛ kane no.
And you, sons of Zion, exult and rejoice in the Lord your God. For he has given you a teacher of justice, and he will make the early and the late rains descend to you, just as it was in the beginning.
24 Aduane bɛyɛ ayuporobea hɔ ma nsã foforɔ ne ngo bɛbu so wɔ kyi amena mu.
And the threshing floors will be filled with grain, and the presses will overflow with wine and oil.
25 “Mɛhyɛ mo anan mu, deɛ mohwereeɛ mfeɛ dodoɔ a ntutummɛ bɛsɛee mo nneɛma, ntutummɛ akɛseɛ ne nkumaa, ne wɔn a aka no nyinaa, me dɔm a mesomaa wɔn baa mo so no.
And I will repay you for the years which the locust, and the beetle, and the mildew, and the caterpillar consumed: my great strength which I sent upon you.
26 Wobɛdidi amee, na wobɛyi Awurade wo Onyankopɔn din ayɛ. Ɔno na wayɛ anwanwadeɛ ama wo; me nkurɔfoɔ ani renwu bio.
And you will eat with enjoyment, and you will be satisfied, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked miracles with you, and my people will not be confounded forever.
27 Afei, wobɛhunu sɛ, mewɔ Israel, wobɛhunu sɛ mene Awurade, wo Onyankopɔn, na obiara nni hɔ sɛ me; Me nkurɔfoɔ ani renwu bio da.”
And you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and I am the Lord your God, and there is no other, and my people will not be confounded forever.
28 “Na akyire yi, mɛhwie me honhom agu nnipa nyinaa so, mo mmammarima ne mo mmammaa bɛhyɛ nkɔm, mo nkɔkoraa bɛsoso adaeɛ, mo mmeranteɛ bɛnya anisoadehunu.
And after this, it will happen that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy; your elders will dream dreams, and your youths will see visions.
29 Saa mmerɛ no mu no, mɛhwie me Honhom agu mʼasomfoɔ so, mmarima ne mmaa.
Moreover, in those days I will pour out my spirit upon my servants and handmaids.
30 Mɛyɛ anwanwadeɛ wɔ ɔsoro ne asase so, mede mogya, ogya ne wisie kumɔnn.
And I will grant wonders in the sky and on earth: blood and fire and the vapor of smoke.
31 Ansa na Awurade ɛda kɛseɛ no bɛba no, owia bɛduru sum na ɔsrane nso ayɛ sɛ mogya.
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall arrive.
32 Na obiara a ɔbɔ Awurade din no, wɔbɛgye no nkwa. Ɛfiri sɛ nkwagyeɛ bɛba ama wɔn a wɔanya wɔn tiri adidi mu a Awurade afrɛ wɔn wɔ Sion bepɔ so ne Yerusalem nyinaa,” sɛdeɛ Awurade aka no.
And it will happen that everyone who will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and in the remnant whom the Lord will call, there will be salvation, just as the Lord has said.
