< Yakobo 3 >
1 Me nuanom, ɛnyɛ mo nyinaa na ɛsɛ sɛ moyɛ mo ho akyerɛkyerɛfoɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, monim sɛ yɛn akyerɛkyerɛfoɔ deɛ sɛ yɛfom a, wɔbɛbu yɛn atɛn a emu yɛ den sene afoforɔ.
Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment.
2 Yɛn nyinaa taa yɛ mfomsoɔ. Onipa a ɔnyɛ mfomsoɔ wɔ deɛ ɔka mu no yɛ pɛ a ɔbɛtumi ahyɛ ne onipadua no so.
For in many things we all stumble. If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.
3 Yɛde nnareka to ɔpɔnkɔ anom sɛdeɛ ɔbɛtie yɛn na yɛatumi ama wakɔ baabiara a yɛpɛ sɛ ɔkɔ.
Now if we put bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, we guide their whole body.
4 Anaasɛ dwene ɛhyɛn ho: sɛdeɛ ne kɛseɛ te a mframa a ano yɛ den na ɛbɔ no, nanso wɔtumi de akyerɛkyerɛkwan ketewaa bi na ɛdanedane no ma ɛkɔ baabi a hyɛnkafoɔ no pɛ sɛ ɛkɔ.
And look at the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires.
So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest.
6 Tɛkrɛma te sɛ ogya. Ɛwɔ tumi bɔne bi wɔ onipa akwaa mu. Ɛsɛe onipadua no nyinaa; ɛsɔ onipa abrabɔ nyinaa so ogya ma ɛdɛre framfram. (Geenna )
And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell. (Geenna )
7 Onipa tumi dwodwo mmoadoma, nnomaa, mmoa a wɔwea fam, ɛpo mu mmoa nyinaa,
For all kinds of animals, and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, are being tamed and have been tamed by humankind.
Ɛyɛ bɔne a ɔnhome so na awuduro ahyɛ no ma.
But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Yɛde tɛkrɛma kamfo yɛn Awurade ne yɛn Agya na yɛde ɛno ara nso adome nnipa a wɔbɔɔ wɔn Onyankopɔn sɛso so.
With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who are made in the image of God.
10 Ano korɔ no ara mu na nkamfo ne nnome firi ba. Me nuanom, ɛnsɛ sɛ ɛba saa.
Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
11 Nsuo pa ne nsuo a ɛyɛ nkyenenkyene bɛtumi afiri asutire baako mu aba?
Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water?
12 Me nuanom, borɔdɔma dua bɛtumi aso ngo dua aba? Anaasɛ bobe bɛtumi aso borɔdɔma?
Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Nor is salt water able to produce sweet.
13 Obi wɔ mo mu a ɔnim nyansa na ɔwɔ nteaseɛ? Ɛsɛ sɛ ɔnam abrabɔ pa, nnwuma pa a wɔnam ahobrɛaseɛ ne nyansa so da no adi.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast and do not lie against the truth.
This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
17 Nanso, nyansa a ɛfiri ɔsoro no yɛ kronkron; asomdwoeɛ wɔ mu, ɛdwo na ɛwɔ nidɔ; ɛwɔ ahummɔborɔ na nneyɛeɛ pa firi mu ba; ɛnnye akyinnyeɛ na ɛnyɛ nyaatwom nso.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.
18 Na ɛso aba pa a ɛfiri aba a asomdwoeɛfoɔ duaa no asomdwoeɛ mu no.
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
