1 Ɔhene Hesekia adedie mfeɛ dunan so no, Asiriahene Sanaherib bɛto hyɛɛ Yuda nkuropɔn a wɔabɔ ho ban no so dii so.
Now it happened in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah, and captured them.
2 Afei, Asiriahene somaa nʼananmusifoɔ firi Lakis a akodɔm kɛseɛ ka ne ho kɔhyiaa Ɔhene Hesekia wɔ Yerusalem. Ɛberɛ a ɔsahene no bɛgyinaa nsudorobɛn bi a ɛfiri Atifi Tadeɛ de kɔ Ntomasifoɔ Atenaeɛ hɔ no,
The king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to king Hezekiah with a large army. He stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool on the highway to the Launderers' Field.
3 Hilkia babarima Eliakim a na ɔhwɛ ahemfie no ntotoeɛ so ne Sebna a na ɔyɛ ɔtwerɛfoɔ ne Asaf babarima Yoa a na ɔno nso yɛ ɔtwerɛfoɔ kɔhyiaa no.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder came out to him.
4 Na ɔsahene no ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monka nkyerɛ Hesekia sɛ, “‘Asɛm a otumfoɔ Asiriahene ka nie: Ɛdeɛn na wode wo ho to so a ɛma wogye wo ho di saa?
Rabshakeh said to them, "Now tell Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, "What confidence is this in which you trust?
5 Woka sɛ wowɔ akodie ho nyansa ne nʼahoɔden, nanso woka nsɛm hunu. Hwan na ɔtaa wʼakyi a enti wote mʼanim atua?
Do you think that empty words are strategy and power for war? Now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
6 Misraim anaa? Sɛ wotwere Misraim a, wobɛhunu sɛ, ɛte sɛ abaa a wo mu duru bɛbu no, na awɔ wo ahwire wo nsam. Misraim Farao mpo mu nni ahotosoɔ korakora.
Look, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
7 Na sɛ moka kyerɛ me sɛ, “Yɛde yɛn ho ato Awurade yɛn Onyankopɔn so” a, ɛnyɛ ɔno na Hesekia yiyii nʼasɔreɛ ne nʼafɔrebukyia na ɔka kyerɛɛ Yuda ne Yerusalem sɛ, “Ɛsɛ sɛ mosɔre wɔ saa afɔrebukyia yi anim no” anaa?
But if you tell me, 'We trust in Jehovah our God,' isn't that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, 'You shall worship before this altar?'"
8 “‘Mɛka asɛm bi akyerɛ wo! Me wura Asiriahene ne wo bɛyɛ nhyehyɛeɛ bi. Sɛ wobɛnya apɔnkɔsotefoɔ mpenu, afiri wʼasraadɔm mu a, ɔbɛma wɔn apɔnkɔ mpenu ama wɔatenatena wɔn so.
Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
9 Na wʼasraadɔm ketewa sɛɛ yi, ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na woaso daeɛ sɛ wobɛtumi ne me wura akodɔm no mu fa bi a wɔyɛ mmerɛ mpo adi asie. Menim sɛ wode wo ho ato Misraim nteaseɛnam ne apɔnkɔsotefoɔ mmoa so.
How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
10 Bio, wogye di sɛ, maba sɛ merebɛto ahyɛ asase yi so asɛe no kwa a Awurade nsa nni mu? Awurade ankasa ka kyerɛɛ me sɛ, menkɔko ntia saa asase yi na mensɛe no.’”
Have I come up now without Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, "Go up against this land, and destroy it."'"
Monnka Hebri na nnipa a wɔwɔ ɔfasuo no so no bɛte aseɛ.”
Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it; and do not speak to us in the Jews' language in the hearing of the people who are on the wall."
12 Na ɔsahene no buaa sɛ, “Me wura pɛ sɛ obiara a ɔwɔ Yerusalem te saa asɛm yi, na ɛnyɛ mo nko. Ɔpɛ sɛ wɔte sɛ, sɛ moamma mo nsa so a, wɔbɛtua kuropɔn yi. Ɛkɔm ne sukɔm werɛmfoɔ bɛde nkurɔfoɔ no ara kɔsi sɛ, wɔbɛdi wɔn ara agyanan, anom wɔn dwonsɔ.”
But Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?"
13 Afei, ɔsahene no sɔre gyina kasaa Hebri mu sɛ, “Montie saa nkra yi a ɛfiri ɔhempɔn, Asiriahene no nkyɛn!
Then Rabshakeh stood, and called out with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 Sɛdeɛ ɔhene no seɛ nie: Mommma Hesekia nnaadaa mo. Ɔrentumi nye mo!
Thus says the king, 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.
15 Mommma Hesekia mfa saa asɛm a ɔkaa no sɛ, ‘Awurade bɛgye yɛn! Wɔremfa saa kuro yi mma Asiriahene’ no, mma mo tirim nyɛ mo dɛ.
Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, "Jehovah will surely deliver us. This city won't be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."'
16 “Monntie Hesekia. Yeinom ne nhyehyɛeɛ a Asiriahene reyɛ. Mo ne me nni no asomdwoeɛ so. Mommue apono no, na mompue mmra. Na mɛma mo mu biara ɛkwan, na moatoa so adidi afiri mo bobe ne borɔdɔma mfikyifuo mu, anom nsuo afiri mo ara mo abura mu,
Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria, 'Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and each of you eat from his vine, and each one from his fig tree, and each one of you drink the waters of his own cistern;
17 kɔsi sɛ mɛba abɛfa mo akɔ asase a ɛte sɛ mo deɛ yi so, ayuo ne nsã foforɔ asase, aduane ne bobe mfuo asase.
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
18 “Mommma Hesekia nka sɛ, ‘Awurade bɛgye yɛn,’ mfa nnaadaa mo. Ɔman bi so nyame atumi agye ne ɔman afiri Asiriahene nsam pɛn anaa?
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, "Jehovah will deliver us." Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria?
19 Ɛhe na Hamat ne Arpad anyame no wɔ? Na Sefarwaim anyame no nso wɔ he? Wɔagye Samaria afiri me nsam anaa?
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Iwah? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?
20 Ɔman bɛn so nyame na watumi agye ne manfoɔ afiri me tumi ase? Na afei ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na Awurade bɛtumi agye Yerusalem afiri me nsam?”
Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'"
21 Na nnipa no yɛɛ komm a wɔamma mmuaeɛ biara, ɛfiri sɛ, na Hesekia aka akyerɛ wɔn sɛ wɔnnkasa.
But they remained silent, and said nothing in reply, for the king's commandment was, "Do not answer him."
22 Afei, Hilkia babarima Eliakim a na ɔhwɛ ahemfie no ntotoeɛ so ne Sebna a na ɔyɛ ɔtwerɛfoɔ ne Asaf babarima Yoa a ɔno nso yɛ ɔtwerɛfoɔ kɔɔ Hesekia nkyɛn a wɔasunsuane wɔn ntadeɛ mu, kɔkaa deɛ ɔsahene no aka kyerɛɛ no.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
