< Amos 1 >
1 Amos, Tekoa nnwanhwɛfoɔ no mu baako nsɛm nie. Ɔnyaa saa anisoadehunu yi a ɛfa Israel ho mfeɛ mmienu ansa na asase wosooɛ no, ɛberɛ a Usia di ɔhene wɔ Yuda na Yoas babarima Yeroboam nso di ɔhene wɔ Israel no.
These are the words of Amos, who was among the sheepherders of Tekoa—what he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake, in the days when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel.
2 Ɔkaa sɛ: “Awurade bobom firi Sion bepɔ so na ɔde aprannaa nnyegyeeɛ nso firi Yerusalem; nnwanhwɛfoɔ mmoa adidibea rehye na Karmel atifi nso kusa.”
He said: “The LORD roars from Zion and raises His voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the summit of Carmel withers.”
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Damascus, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they threshed Gilead with sledges of iron.
4 Mede ogya bɛto Hasael efie na ahye Ben-Hadad aban no.
So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael to consume the citadels of Ben-hadad.
5 Mɛbubu Damasko apono, na mɛsɛe ɔhene a ɔwɔ Awen bɔnhwa no mu no ne deɛ ɔkura ahempoma wɔ Bet Eden no. Na Aramfoɔ bɛkɔ nnommumfa mu wɔ Kir,” sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie.
I will break down the gates of Damascus; I will cut off the ruler of the Valley of Aven and the one who wields the scepter in Beth-eden. The people of Aram will be exiled to Kir,”
6 Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Gasa ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno enti, merennane mʼabufuo no. Ɔfaa ɔman mu no nyinaa nnommum na ɔtɔnee wɔn maa Edomfoɔ.
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Gaza, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they exiled a whole population, delivering them up to Edom.
7 Mede ogya bɛto Gasa afasuo mu, na ahye nʼaban no.
So I will send fire upon the walls of Gaza, to consume its citadels.
8 Mɛsɛe Asdod ɔhene no ne deɛ ɔkura ahempoma wɔ Askelon no. Mɛdane me nsa atia Ekron, kɔsi sɛ Filistini a ɔtwa toɔ no bɛwu,” sɛdeɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie.
I will cut off the ruler of Ashdod and the one who wields the scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,”
9 Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Tiro ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno enti, merennane mʼabufuo. Ɔfaa ɔman mu no nnommum na ɔtɔnee wɔn maa Edomfoɔ, a wankae onuadɔ apam.
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Tyre, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they delivered up a whole congregation of exiles to Edom and broke a covenant of brotherhood.
10 Mede ogya bɛto Tiro afasuo no mu, na ahye nʼaban.”
So I will send fire upon the walls of Tyre to consume its citadels.”
11 Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Edom ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno enti, merennane mʼabufuo. Ɔde akofena taataa ne nua, a wannya ayamhyehyeɛ biara. Ɛfiri sɛ ne bo kɔɔ so fuiɛ na obiara antumi annwodwo nʼabufuo no ano.
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Edom, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and stifled all compassion; his anger raged continually, and his fury flamed incessantly.
12 Mede ogya bɛto Teman mu, na ahye Bosra aban.”
So I will send fire upon Teman to consume the citadels of Bozrah.”
13 Sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Amon ayɛ bɔne bebree ama no atra so, ɛno enti, merennane mʼabufuo. Ɔde akofena paepaee Gilead apemfoɔ yafunu mu de trɛɛ nʼahyeɛ mu.
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory.
14 Mede ogya bɛto Raba afasuo mu na ahye nʼaban wɔ ɔko da mu nteateam ne ahum da ntwaho mframa mu.
So I will kindle a fire in the walls of Rabbah to consume its citadels amid war cries on the day of battle and a violent wind on the day of tempest.
15 Na ne ɔhene ne mmapɔmma bɛbom akɔ nnommumfa mu,” sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie.
Their king will go into exile — he and his princes together,”
