< Asomafoɔ 12 >
1 Saa ɛberɛ yi mu ara na Ɔhene Herode kyekyeree asafomma no bi hyɛɛ aseɛ yɛɛ wɔn ayayadeɛ.
At that time Herod the king laid his hands on some of those of the assembly to do them hurt,
2 Ɔde akofena kumm Yohane nua Yakobo.
and slew James, the brother of John, with the sword.
3 Ɔhunuu sɛ Yudafoɔ no ani gye deɛ ɔyɛeɛ no ho no, ɔmaa wɔkɔkyeree Petro nso. Asɛm yi sii Apiti Afahyɛ no mu.
And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he went on to take Peter also: (and they were the days of unleavened bread: )
4 Wɔkyeree Petro no, wɔde no too afiase a na asraafoɔ baanan na wɔwɛn no ɛberɛ biara. Herode yɛɛ nʼadwene sɛ, Twam Afahyɛ no akyi, ɔbɛdi nʼasɛm wɔ ɔman no anim.
whom having seized he put in prison, having delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep, purposing after the passover to bring him out to the people.
5 Ɛberɛ a na Petro da afiase no nyinaa, na asafo no bɔ mpaeɛ denden, srɛ Onyankopɔn sɛ ɔnhwɛ ne so.
Peter therefore was kept in the prison; but unceasing prayer was made by the assembly to God concerning him.
6 Anadwo a adeɛ rebɛkye ama Herode adi Petro asɛm wɔ ɔman no anim no, na Petro da asraafoɔ baanu ntam a wɔde nkɔnsɔnkɔnsɔn mmienu agugu no asesa asraafoɔ baanu a wɔwɛn no no. Na asraafoɔ baanu nso rewɛn afiase ɛpono no ano.
And when Herod was going to bring him forth, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards before the door kept the prison.
7 Amonom hɔ ara, Onyankopɔn ɔbɔfoɔ bɛgyinaa afiase hɔ maa ɛhɔ hyerɛneeɛ. Ɔbɔfoɔ no wosoo Petro, nyanee no, ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Sɔre ntɛm!” Ɛhɔ ara, nkɔnsɔnkɔnsɔn no tete firii Petro nsa.
And lo, an angel of [the] Lord came there, and a light shone in the prison: and having smitten the side of Peter, he roused him up, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off his hands.
8 Afei, ɔbɔfoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ Petro sɛ, “Hyɛ wʼatadeɛ ne wo mpaboa. Petro wieeɛ no, ɔbɔfoɔ no sane ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, Fira wo ntoma na di mʼakyi.”
And the angel said to him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And he did so. And he says to him, Cast thine upper garment about thee and follow me.
9 Petro dii nʼakyi firii adi. Wɔrekɔ no, na ɛyɛ no sɛ adaeɛso anaa anisoadehunu, ɛfiri sɛ, na ɔnnye nni sɛ ɛyɛ asɛm pa ara.
And going forth he followed [him] and did not know that what was happening by means of the angel was real, but supposed he saw a vision.
10 Wɔtwaa awɛmfoɔ a wɔdi ɛkan no ne wɔn a wɔtɔ so mmienu no ho bɛduruu dadeɛ ɛpono a ɛda kuro no ano no ho. Wɔduruu hɔ no ɛpono no ankasa bue maa wɔfaa mu kɔeɛ. Wɔfaa borɔno bi so kɔɔ animu kakra, na afei ɔbɔfoɔ no gyaa Petro hɔ.
And having passed through a first and second guard, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city, which opened to them of itself; and going forth they went down one street, and immediately the angel left him.
11 Petro ani baa ne ho so maa ɔkaa sɛ, “Afei, mahunu sɛ deɛ ɛsiiɛ no nyinaa yɛ nokorɛ! Awurade somaa ne ɔbɔfoɔ na ɔbɛgyee me firii Herode nsam ne deɛ Yudafoɔ hwehwɛɛ sɛ wɔyɛ me no mu.”
And Peter, being come to himself, said, Now I know certainly that [the] Lord has sent forth his angel and has taken me out of the hand of Herod and all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 Petro hunuu deɛ asi no, ɔkɔɔ Yohane a na wɔfrɛ no Marko no maame a ne din de Maria no fie. Saa ɛberɛ no, na nnipa bebree ahyia wɔ hɔ rebɔ mpaeɛ.
And having become clearly conscious [in himself], he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was surnamed Mark, where were many gathered together and praying.
13 Petro bɔɔ abɔntenpono no mu, na abaayewa bi a wɔfrɛ no Roda bɛtieeɛ.
And when he had knocked at the door of the entry, a maid came to listen, by name Rhoda;
14 Ɛberɛ a ɔtee nne no, anigyeɛ enti, wammue ɛpono no. Ɔsane nʼakyi kɔbɔɔ amaneɛ sɛ, “Petro gyina ɛpono no akyi.”
and having recognised the voice of Peter, through joy did not open the entry, but running in, reported that Peter was standing before the entry.
15 Wɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Gyama worebɔ dam.” Nanso, ɔkɔɔ so kaa sɛ ɛyɛ nokorɛ. Wɔn nso ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Gyama ne saman.”
And they said to her, Thou art mad. But she maintained that it was so. And they said, It is his angel.
16 Petro kɔɔ so bɔɔ ɛpono no akyi. Wɔbueeɛ a wɔhunuu Petro no, wɔn ho dwirii wɔn.
But Peter continued knocking: and having opened, they saw him and were astonished.
17 Ɔde ne nsa nyamaa wɔn sɛ wɔnyɛ komm. Ɔkaa ɛkwan a Awurade nam so yii no firii afiase no kyerɛɛ wɔn. Afei, ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monka asɛm a asi yi nkyerɛ Yakobo ne anuanom a wɔaka no.” Afei, ɔfirii hɔ kɔɔ baabi foforɔ.
And having made a sign to them with his hand to be silent, he related [to them] how the Lord had brought him out of prison; and he said, Report these things to James and to the brethren. And he went out and went to another place.
18 Adeɛ kyeeɛ no, awɛmfoɔ no ho yeraa wɔn yie sɛ wɔnhunu faako a Petro afa.
And when it was day there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, what then was become of Peter.
19 Herode hyɛɛ sɛ wɔnhwehwɛ no, nanso wɔanhunu no. Wɔdii awɛmfoɔ no asɛm, buu wɔn kumfɔ. Yei akyi no, Herode firii Yudea kɔɔ Kaesarea kɔtenaa hɔ kakra.
And Herod having sought him and not found him, having examined the guards, commanded [them] to be executed. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea and stayed [there].
20 Ɛberɛ a Herode wɔ Kaesarea no, abɔfoɔ bi a wɔasoma wɔn firi Tiro ne Sidon bɛhunuu no. Na Herode bo afu Tirofoɔ ne Sidonfoɔ. Nanso, abɔfoɔ yi dwane toaa Blasto a na ɔyɛ dabehene no sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a asomdwoeɛ bɛba, ɛfiri sɛ, na saa nkuro yi nya wɔn nnuane nyinaa firi Herode asase so.
And he was in bitter hostility with [the] Tyrians and Sidonians; but they came to him with one accord, and, having gained Blastus the king's chamberlain, sought peace, because their country was nourished by the king's.
21 Wɔtuu da bi sii hɔ maa Herode penee so. Ɛda no duruiɛ no, ɔhyɛɛ nʼahentadeɛ tenaa nʼahennwa so, kasa kyerɛɛ wɔn.
And on a set day, clothed in royal apparel and sitting on the elevated seat [of honour], Herod made a public oration to them.
22 Herode kasa wieeɛ no, nnipa no kaa sɛ, “Ɔkasa sɛ onyame bi.”
And the people cried out, A god's voice and not a man's.
23 Ɛhɔ ara Onyankopɔn ɔbɔfoɔ bɛbɔɔ no maa ɔyareeɛ. Ɔdɔree mmoa ma ɔwuiɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, wamfa obuo amma Onyankopɔn.
And immediately an angel of [the] Lord smote him, because he did not give the glory to God, and he expired, eaten of worms.
24 Onyankopɔn asɛm kɔɔ so trɛ maa nnipa bebree gye diiɛ.
But the word of God grew and spread itself.
25 Barnaba ne Saulo wiee wɔn dwumadie no, wɔsane wɔn akyi firii Yerusalem a na Yohane a wɔfrɛ no Marko no ka wɔn ho.
And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, having fulfilled the service [entrusted to them], taking also with them John, surnamed Mark.
