< 2 Samuel 8 >
1 Akyire yi, Dawid dii Filistifoɔ no so, brɛɛ wɔn ase. Ɔko gyee Gat a ɛyɛ wɔn kuropɔn kɛseɛ no.
And it came to pass, after this, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, —and David took the bridle of the metropolis, out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 Dawid sane dii Moabfoɔ so.
And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line casting, them down to the ground, and be measured with two lines to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive, —so the Moabites became David’s, as servants, bringing gifts.
3 Dawid sɛe Rehob babarima Hadadeser a na ɔdi ɔhene wɔ Soba no akɔdɔm, ɛberɛ a Hadadeser kɔɔ Asubɔnten Eufrate ho, pɛɛ sɛ ɔkɔhyɛ ne nnisoɔ mu den.
And David smote Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, —when he went to lay his hand on the River Euphrates.
4 Dawid kyeree ne nteaseɛnam apem, nteaseɛnamkafoɔ mpem nson ne nammɔntwa asraafoɔ ɔpeduonu. Dawid twitwaa nteaseɛnam apɔnkɔ no nyinaa nantin ntini, ma ɛkaa ɔha pɛ.
And David captured from him, a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, —and David destroyed all the chariots, but reserved of them, a hundred chariots.
5 Ɛberɛ a Aramfoɔ a wɔfiri Damasko baa sɛ wɔrebɛboa Sobahene Hadadeser no, Dawid kumm wɔn mu ɔpeduonu.
And, when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians, twenty-two thousand men.
6 Na ɔde akodɔm a wɔyɛ bansifoɔ kɔtenaa Damasko, ma Aramfoɔ bɛyɛɛ Dawid nkurɔfoɔ a na wɔyi toɔ brɛ no. Baabiara a Dawid bɛkɔ no, Awurade ma no di nkonim.
Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became David’s, as servants bringing gifts, —and so Yahweh gave victory unto David, whithersoever he went.
7 Dawid faa sikakɔkɔɔ nkuruwa a na ɛyɛ Hadadeser mpanimfoɔ dea no de ne nyinaa kɔɔ Yerusalem.
And David took the shields of gold which had come to the servants of Hadadezer, —and brought them to Jerusalem;
also, from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, did King David take bronze, exceeding much.
9 Ɛberɛ a Hamathene Toi tee sɛ Dawid atɔre Hadadeser akodɔm no ase pasaa no,
And, when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the forces of Hadadezer,
10 ɔsomaa ne babarima Yoram wɔ Dawid nkyɛn, bɛkyiaa no maa no amo. Na Hadadeser ne Toi yɛ atamfoɔ firi teteete a wɔako atia wɔn ho mpɛn bebree. Yoram kɔkyɛɛ Dawid nneɛma bebree a ɛyɛ, dwetɛ, sikakɔkɔɔ ne kɔbere mfrafraeɛ.
then Tou sent Hadoram his son unto King David, to ask after his welfare, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had smitten him, for Hadadezer had had wars with Tou, —and, in his hand, were vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.
11 Ɔhene Dawid too akyɛdeɛ no nyinaa din de maa Awurade a, dwetɛ ne sikakɔkɔɔ a ɔnya firii aman bi a ɔdii wɔn so no nyinaa ka ho.
Them also, did King David hallow unto Yahweh, —with the silver and the gold which he had hallowed from all the nations which he had subdued:
12 Saa aman no ne Edom, Moab, Amon, Filistia, Amalek ne deɛ ɛfiri Sobahene Rehob babarima Hadadeser nkyɛn nso.
from Syria, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek, —and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13 Yei maa Dawid gyee edin. Ɔsane nʼakyi kɔeɛ no, ɔkunkumm Edomfoɔ mpem dunwɔtwe wɔ Nkyene Bɔnhwa mu.
And David made a name, when he returned from his smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, —eighteen thousand.
14 Ɔde akodɔm bansifoɔ siisii Edom nyinaa ano. Na Edomfoɔ nyinaa bɛyɛɛ Dawid nkoa. Yei yɛ nhwɛsoɔ foforɔ a ɛkyerɛɛ nkonim a Awurade maa Dawid dii no baabiara a ɔkɔeɛ no.
And he put, in Edom, garrisons, throughout all Edom, put be garrisons, and so it was that all Edom became servants unto David, —and Yahweh gave victory unto David, whithersoever he went.
And David reigned over all Israel, —and so it was that David used to execute justice and righteousness for all his people;
and, Joab, son of Zeruiah, was over the army, —and, Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was remembrancer.
And, Zadok, son of Ahitub, and Abimelech, son of Abiathar, were priests, —and, Seraiah, was scribe;
and, Benaiah, son of Jehoiadah, was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, —and, the sons of David, became, chief rulers.
