< 2 Petro 3 >
1 Adɔfonom, yei ne krataa a ɛtɔ so mmienu a matwerɛ abrɛ mo. Metwerɛɛ sɛ mede rebɛkae mo, de akanyane mo adwene.
This, dear friends, is my second letter to you. In both of them I have tried, by appealing to your remembrance, to arouse your better feelings.
2 Mepɛ sɛ mokae nsɛm a adiyifoɔ kronkron no kaa mmerɛ bi a atwam no ne mmara a ɛfiri Awurade ne Agyenkwa a wɔde faa mo asomafoɔ so maa mo no.
I want you to recall what was foretold by the holy prophets, as well as the command of our Lord and Savior given to you through your apostles.
3 Deɛ ɛdi ɛkan no, ɛsɛ sɛ mote aseɛ sɛ nna a ɛdi akyire no mu no, nnipa bi bɛba a wɔn ara wɔn honam akɔnnɔ na ɛbɛdi wɔn so. Wɔbɛdi mo ho fɛ
First be assured of this, that, as the age draws to an end, scoffers, led by their own passions,
4 aka sɛ, “Ɔhyɛɛ mo bɔ sɛ ɔbɛba. Wanka? Na ɔwɔ he? Yɛn agyanom awuwu dada, nanso biribiara te sɛ deɛ ɛte firi adebɔ mfitiaseɛ!”
will come and ask scoffingly – ‘Where is his promised coming? Ever since our ancestors passed to their rest, everything remains just as it was when the world was first created!’
5 Wɔhyɛ da ma wɔn werɛ firi nokorɛ no sɛ, ɛfiri tete no, Onyankopɔn kasaeɛ na wɔbɔɔ ɔsoro ne asase. Wɔbɔɔ asase firi nsuo mu na wɔde nsuo na ɛyɛeɛ.
For they willfully shut their eyes to the fact that long ago the heavens existed; and the earth, also – formed out of water and by the action of water, by the fiat of God;
6 Akyire no wɔde nsuyire bɛsɛee no.
and that by the same means the world which then existed was destroyed in a deluge of water.
But the present heavens and earth, by the same fiat, have been reserved for fire, and are being kept for the day of the judgment and destruction of the godless.
8 Nanso, anuanom, mommma mo werɛ mfiri adeɛ baako sɛ Awurade ani so deɛ, nsonsonoeɛ nni da koro ne mfeɛ apem ntam. Ne fam deɛ, ne mmienu nyinaa yɛ pɛ.
But you, dear friends, must never shut your eyes to the fact that, to the Lord, one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 Awurade ntwentwɛn ne nan ase wɔ ne bɔ a wahyɛ ho sɛdeɛ ebinom dwene no. Mmom, ɔwɔ mo ho boasetɔ ɛfiri sɛ, ɔmpɛ sɛ wɔbɛsɛe obiara, na mmom, ɔpɛ sɛ obiara sakra firi ne bɔne ho.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, as some count slowness; but he is forbearing with you, as it is not his will that any of you should perish, but that all should be brought to repentance.
10 Na Awurade da no bɛba sɛ owifoɔ. Ɛda no, ɔsoro bɛbobom na ayera na ewiem nneɛma bɛhye na asɛe na asase ne so nneɛma nyinaa nso bɛda adi.
The day of the Lord will come like a thief; and on that day the heavens will pass away with a crash, the elements will be burnt up and dissolved, and the earth and all that is in it will be disclosed.
11 Sɛ saa ɛkwan yi so na wɔbɛfa asɛe adeɛ nyinaa a, na ɛdeɛn bra na ɛsɛ sɛ wobɔ? Ɛsɛ sɛ mo bra yɛ kronkron na mode mo ho ma Onyankopɔn.
Now, since all these things are in the process of dissolution, think what you yourselves ought to be – what holy and pious lives you ought to lead,
12 Monhwɛ saa da no kwan na monyɛ mo nneɛma pɛpɛɛpɛ; saa da a Onyankopɔn bɛto ɔsoro mu ogya na ewiem nneɛma anane na ayera wɔ ogyaframa mu no.
while you wait for the coming of the day of God and strive to make it come soon. At its coming the heavens will be dissolved in fire, and the elements melted by heat,
13 Nanso, yɛtwɛn deɛ Onyankopɔn ahyɛ yɛn ho bɔ no, ɔsoro foforɔ ne asase foforɔ a ɛhɔ na tenenee bɛtena.
but we look for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will have its home, in fulfillment of the promise of God.
14 Enti, anuanom, mogu so retwɛn da no yi, mommɔ mmɔden sɛ mobɛyɛ kronn a mfomsoɔ biara nni mo ho wɔ Onyankopɔn anim na mo ne no atena wɔ asomdwoeɛ mu.
Therefore, dear friends, in expectation of these things, make every effort to be found by him spotless, blameless, and at peace.
15 Monkae nhunu sɛ Awurade wɔ boasetɔ ɛfiri sɛ ɔpɛ sɛ obiara nya nkwagyeɛ. Ɛno na yɛn nua Paulo nam nyansa a Onyankopɔn de maa no no so twerɛɛ mo no.
Regard our Lord’s forbearance as your one hope of salvation. This is what our dear friend Paul wrote to you, with the wisdom that God gave him.
16 Saa ɛkwan korɔ no ara so na ɔfa twerɛɛ ne nkrataa no na saa nsɛm yi ara so nso na ɔgyina twerɛeɛ. Nsɛm bi a ɛyɛ den wɔ ne nkrataa no mu no, wɔn a wɔnnim na wɔnnyɛ den no ntumi nkyerɛ aseɛ yie. Saa ara na wɔyɛ Atwerɛsɛm a aka no de ɔsɛeɛ ba wɔn so.
It is the same in all his letters, when he speaks in them about these subjects. There are some things in them difficult to understand, which untaught and weak people distort, just as they do all other writings, to their own ruin.
17 Nanso anuanom, mo deɛ monim yei dada. Monwɛn na wɔn a wɔnni mmara so annaadaa mo amfiri beaeɛ pa.
You must, therefore, dear friends, now that you know this beforehand, be on your guard against being led away by the errors of reckless people, and so lapsing from your present steadfastness;
18 Monyini wɔ yɛn Awurade ne Agyenkwa Yesu Kristo adom ne nimdeɛ mu. Ɔno na animuonyam nka no seesei ne daa. Amen. (aiōn )
and advance in the love and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All glory be to him now and for ever. (aiōn )
