< 2 Ahemfo 6 >

1 Ɛda bi adiyifoɔ kuo baa Elisa nkyɛn bɛka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Sɛdeɛ wo ara wohunu no, baabi a yɛne wo hyia ha yi sua.
And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too small for us.
2 Ma yɛnkɔ Asubɔnten Yordan ho a nnua bebree wɔ hɔ. Ɛhɔ deɛ, yɛbɛtumi asi ɛdan foforɔ, ahyia mu wɔ hɔ.” Ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Ɛyɛ, monkɔyɛ.”
Let us go, we pray thee, to Jordan, and take from there every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 Obi kaa nʼadwene sɛ, “Mesrɛ wo, bɛka yɛn ho na yɛnkɔ.” Ɔkaa sɛ, “Mate yɛbɛkɔ.”
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 Ɛberɛ a wɔduruu Yordan ho no, wɔhyɛɛ aseɛ buu nnua.
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 Nanso, wɔn mu baako rebu dua no, nʼabonnua hɔn tɔɔ nsuo no mu. Ɔteaam sɛ, “Aa! Me wura, ɛyɛ abonnua a mekɔsrɛeɛ!”
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 Onyankopɔn onipa no bisaa sɛ, “Ɛhefa na ɛtɔeɛ?” Ɔkyerɛɛ Elisa baabi ko no, Elisa twaa poma, na ɔto twenee nsuo no mu. Ɛhɔ ara abonnua tire no pagyaa ne ho, bɛtɛɛ nsuo no ani.
And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in there; and made the axe head float.
7 Elisa ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ma so yi.” Na ɔbarima no tenee ne nsa yiiɛ.
Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
8 Ɛberɛ a Aramhene ne Israel redi ako no, ɔne ne mpanimfoɔ tuu agyina, kaa sɛ, “Yɛbɛboaboa yɛn akodɔm ano wɔ ha anaa ɛha.”
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 Ntɛm pa ara, Onyankopɔn onipa Elisa bɔɔ Israelhene kɔkɔ sɛ, “Ntwe mmɛn beaeɛ hɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, Aramfoɔ no reyɛ nhyehyɛeɛ, aboaboa wɔn akodɔm ano wɔ hɔ.”
And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for there the Syrians have come down.
10 Enti Israelhene hwɛɛ beaeɛ a Onyame onipa kyerɛɛ no no. Elisa kɔɔ so bɔɔ ɔhene no kɔkɔ mpɛn pii, na ɛmaa nʼani daa fam wɔ mmeaeɛ a ɛtete saa no ho.
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Aramhene werɛ hoo wɔ asɛm yi ho. Ɔfrɛɛ ne mpanimfoɔ bisaa wɔn sɛ, “Mo mu hwan na ɔyɛ ɔfatwafoɔ no? Hwan na ɔka me nhyehyɛeɛ a mayɛ kyerɛ Israelhene?”
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said to them, Will ye not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 Mpanimfoɔ no mu baako buaa sɛ, “Me wura, ɛnyɛ yɛn. Elisa a ɔyɛ odiyifoɔ wɔ Israel no na ɔka wo kɔkoamsɛm kyerɛ Israelhene.”
And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 Ɔhene no hyɛɛ sɛ, “Monkɔhwehwɛ baabi a Elisa wɔ, na yɛbɛsoma akodɔm ama wɔakɔkye no.” Na nkra baeɛ sɛ, “Elisa wɔ Dotan.”
And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and bring him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 Enti, anadwo bi, Aramhene somaa akodɔm bebree ne wɔn nteaseɛnam ne wɔn apɔnkɔ kɔtwaa kanko faa kuropɔn no ho.
Therefore he sent there horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and surrounded the city.
15 Ɛberɛ a Onyankopɔn onipa no ɔsomfoɔ sɔree ahemadakye, sii afikyire no, na akodɔm, apɔnkɔ ne nteaseɛnam atwa hɔ ahyia. Ɔteaam kyerɛɛ Elisa sɛ, “Aa, me wura, ɛdeɛn na yɛnyɛ?”
And when the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host surrounded the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 Elisa ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Nsuro na yɛwɔ ɛdɔm sene wɔn.”
And he answered, Fear not: for they that are with us are more than they that are with them.
17 Afei, Elisa bɔɔ mpaeɛ sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, bue nʼani na ma ɔnhunu adeɛ,” Awurade buee ne ɔsomfoɔ ani, na ɔpagyaa nʼani no, ɔhunuu sɛ Elisa nkyɛn mu a ɛkyerɛ bepɔ no, ogya apɔnkɔ ne nteaseɛnam na ayɛ hɔ ma.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.
18 Ɛberɛ a Aramfoɔ asraadɔm bɔ puaa wɔn no, Elisa bɔɔ mpaeɛ sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, mesrɛ wo, ma wɔn ani mfirafira.” Na Awurade yɛɛ deɛ Elisa bisaeɛ no.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 Na Elisa firii adi, kɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Moafa ɛkwan bɔne so aba. Ɛnyɛ kuro a morehwehwɛ no ni. Monni mʼakyi, na mede mo bɛkɔ onipa a morehwehwɛ no no nkyɛn.” Na ɔdii wɔn anim kɔduruu Samaria.
And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
20 Na wɔduruu Samaria pɛ, Elisa bɔɔ mpaeɛ sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, afei bue wɔn ani, na ma wɔnhunu adeɛ.” Na Awurade yɛeɛ, na wɔhunuu sɛ wɔwɔ Samaria.
And it came to pass, when they had come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
21 Ɛberɛ a Israelhene hunuu wɔn no, ɔteaam, bisaa Elisa sɛ, “Mʼagya, menkunkum wɔn anaa?”
And the king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
22 Elisa buaa no sɛ, “Dabi. Ɛsɛ sɛ yɛkunkum ɔko mu nnommumfoɔ anaa? Ma wɔn aduane ne nsuo, na ma wɔnsane nkɔ wɔn wura nkyɛn wɔ wɔn kurom.”
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 Enti, ɔhene no too wɔn ɛpono kɛseɛ, ma wɔsane kɔɔ wɔn ɔhene nkyɛn wɔ wɔn kurom. Ɛno akyi, Aramfoɔ ntohyɛsofoɔ no twee wɔn ho firii Israel asase ho koraa.
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
24 Akyire no, Aramhene Ben-Hadad boaboaa nʼakodɔm nyinaa ano, de wɔn kɔtuaa Samaria.
And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
25 Ɛbaa saa no, ɛkɔm kɛseɛ baa kuro no mu. Ɛyɛɛ kakra no, na wɔtɔn afunumu ti dwetɛ kilogram baako, ɛnna wɔtɔn aborɔnoma bini kuruwa ma dwetɛ gram aduonum nwɔtwe.
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
26 Ɛda bi a Israelhene nam kuro no ɔfasuo ho no, ɔbaa bi kɔɔ ne nkyɛn kɔsrɛɛ no sɛ, “Me wura ɔhene, mesrɛ wo, boa me.”
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
27 Ɔbuaa no sɛ, “Sɛ Awurade ammoa wo a, ɛdeɛn na mɛtumi ayɛ? Menni aduane anaa nsa a mede bɛma wo.”
And he said, If the LORD doth not help thee, how shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?
28 Ɔhene no bisaa no sɛ, “Ɛdeɛn asɛm?” Ɔbuaa sɛ, “Saa ɔbaa yi kaa sɛ, yɛnwe me babarima da bi, na adeɛ kye a, yɛawe ɔno nso deɛ.
And the king said to her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said to me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
29 Enti, yɛnoaa me babarima weeɛ. Afei, adeɛ kyeeɛ no, meka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, ‘Kum wo babarima no ma yɛnwe,’ nanso, na ɔde no akɔsie.”
So we boiled my son, and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
30 Na ɔhene no tee saa asɛm yi, ɔde anibiannasoɔ sunsuanee ne ntadeɛ mu. Na ɔhene no nam ɔfasuo no ho no, nnipa no hunuu sɛ ɔhyɛ ayitadeɛ wɔ nʼase.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth beneath upon his flesh.
31 Ɔhene no kaa ntam sɛ, “Sɛ ɛnnɛ mankum Safat babarima Elisa a, Onyankopɔn nku me.”
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
32 Elisa te ne fie a ɔne Israel mpanimfoɔ reyɛ nhyiamu na ɔhene somaa abɔfoɔ kɔfrɛɛ no. Nanso, ansa na abɔfoɔ no rebɛduru no, Elisa ka kyerɛɛ mpanimfoɔ no sɛ, “Owudifoɔ asoma ɔbarima bi sɛ ɔmmɛkum me. Sɛ ɔduru ha a, to ɛpono no mu, na ɔnka akyire. Na ɛrenkyɛre ne wura no bɛdi nʼakyi aba.”
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away my head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
33 Elisa gu so rekasa no, ɔbɔfoɔ no baeɛ. Na ɔhene no kaa sɛ, “Ɛyɛ Awurade na ɔde saa ɔhaw yi abrɛ yɛn! Adɛn enti na ɛsɛ sɛ mekɔ so twɛn Awurade?”
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down to him: and he said, Behold, this evil is from the LORD; why should I wait for the LORD any longer?
