< 2 Ahemfo 22 >

1 Ɛberɛ a Yosia dii ɔhene wɔ Yuda no, na wadi mfirinhyia nwɔtwe, na ɔdii adeɛ Yerusalem mfeɛ aduasa baako. Na ne maame din de Yedida a ɔyɛ Adaia a ɔfiri Boskat no babaa.
Josias [was] eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Jedia, daughter of Edeia of Basuroth.
2 Ɔyɛɛ deɛ ɛsɔ Awurade ani, na ɔfaa ne tete agya Dawid nhwɛsoɔ. Wammane ankɔ nifa anaa benkum.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father; he turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3 Ɔhene Yosia dii mfirinhyia dunwɔtwe wɔ nʼahennie mu no, ɔsomaa Asalia babarima Safan, asɛnniiɛ twerɛfoɔ Mesulam nana, kɔɔ Awurade Asɔredan mu. Ɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ,
And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josias, in the eighth month, the king sent Sapphan the son of Ezelias the son of Mesollam, the scribe of the house of the Lord, saying,
4 “Kɔ ɔsɔfopanin Hilkia nkyɛn, na ma ɔnkan sika a apono anohwɛfoɔ no agyegye afiri nnipa no nkyɛn wɔ Awurade Asɔredan mu no.
Go up to Chelcias the high priest, and take account of the money that is brought into the house of the Lord, which they that keep the door have collected of the people.
5 Fa saa sika yi hyɛ nnipa a wɔayi wɔn sɛ wɔnhwɛ asɔredan no ho nsiesie no nsa. Na wɔde atua adwumayɛfoɔ a wɔbɛsiesie Awurade Asɔredan no ho ka.
And let them give it into the hand of the workmen that are appointed in the house of the Lord. And he gave it to the workmen in the house of the Lord, to repair the breaches of the house,
6 Ɛho bɛhia sɛ wɔbɛfa nnua adwumfoɔ, adansifoɔ ne abohyehyɛfoɔ. Afei, ma wɔntɔ nnua ne aboɔ a wɔatwa a wɔde bɛsiesie asɔredan no.
[even] to the carpenters, and builders, and masons, [and] also to purchase timber and hewn stones, to repair the breaches of the house.
7 Nanso, ɛho nhia sɛ adansie no sohwɛfoɔ bɛbu sika a wɔn nsa bɛka no ho nkonta, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔyɛ nokwafoɔ.”
Only they did not call them to account for the money that was given to them, because they dealt faithfully.
8 Ɔsɔfopanin Hilkia ka kyerɛɛ asɛnniiɛ twerɛfoɔ Safan sɛ, “Mahunu Mmara Nwoma no wɔ Awurade Asɔredan mu hɔ.” Na Hilkia de nwoma mmobɔeɛ no maa Safan, na ɔkenkaneeɛ.
And Chelcias the high priest said to Saphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Chelcias gave the book to Sapphan, and he read it.
9 Safan sane kɔɔ ɔhene no nkyɛn kɔkaa sɛ, “Wo mpanimfoɔ no de sika a wɔgyegyee wɔ Awurade asɔredan no mu no ama adwumayɛfoɔ no ne sohwɛfoɔ a wɔwɔ asɔredan no ho no.”
And he went into the house of the Lord to the king, and reported the matter to the king, and said, Thy servants have collected the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have given it into the hand of the workmen that are appointed in the house of the Lord.
10 Safan sane ka kyerɛɛ ɔhene no sɛ, “Ɔsɔfoɔ Hilkia de nwoma mmobɔeɛ bi ama me.” Na Safan kenkan kyerɛɛ ɔhene no.
And Sapphan the scribe spoke to the king, saying, Chelcias the priest has given me a book. And Sapphan read it before the king.
11 Ɛberɛ a ɔhene no tee nsɛm a ɛwɔ Awurade Mmara Nwoma no mu no, ɔde ahometeɛ sunsuanee ne ntadeɛ mu.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his garments.
And the king commanded Chelcias the priest, and Achikam the son of Sapphan, and Achobor the son of Michaias, and Sapphan the scribe, and Asaias the king's servant, saying,
13 “Monkɔ asɔredan no mu, na monkɔkasa nkyerɛ Awurade mma me, mma nnipa no ne Yuda nyinaa. Mommisa no nsɛm a wɔatwerɛ agu nwoma mmobɔeɛ no a wahunu no ho asɛm. Awurade abufuhyeɛ aba yɛn so, ɛfiri sɛ, yɛn agyanom anni nwoma yi mu nsɛm so. Ɛnyɛ deɛ nwoma yi ka sɛ yɛnyɛ no na yɛyɛ.”
Go, enquire of the Lord for me, and for all the people, and for all Juda, and concerning the words of this book that has been found: for the wrath of the Lord that has been kindled against us [is] great, because our fathers hearkened not to the words of this book, to do according to all the things written concerning us.
14 Enti, ɔsɔfoɔ Hilkia, Ahikam, Akbor, Safan ne Asaia kɔɔ Yerusalem Fa Foforɔ Misne kɔhunuu odiyifoɔ Hulda. Na ɔyɛ Tikwa babarima Salum yere, a na ɔyɛ Harhas a ɔhwɛ ntadeɛ adaka a ɛwɔ asɔredan mu so no nso nana.
So Chelcias the priest went, and Achicam, and Achobor, and Sapphan, and Asaias, to Olda the prophetess, the mother of Sellem the son of Thecuan son of Aras, keeper of the robes; and she dwelt in Jerusalem in Masena; and they spoke to her.
15 Ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Awurade, Israel Onyankopɔn akasa. Monkɔka nkyerɛ onipa a ɔsomaa mo no sɛ,
And she said to them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Say to the man that sent you to me,
16 ‘Sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie: Mɛsɛe kuropɔn yi ne mu nnipa, sɛdeɛ matwerɛ wɔ nwoma mmobɔeɛ a mokenkaneɛ no mu no.
Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I bring evil upon this place, and upon them that dwell in it, [even] all the words of the book which the king of Juda has read:
17 Ɛfiri sɛ, me nkurɔfoɔ agya me, na wɔsom anyame huhuo, na biribiara a wɔayɛ no, ahyɛ me abufuo. Mʼabufuhyeɛ redɛre wɔ ha, na ɛrennum.’
because they have forsaken me, and burnt incense to other gods, that they might provoke me with the works of their hands: therefore my wrath shall burn forth against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18 Na monkɔ Yudahene a ɔsomaa mo no nkyɛn nkɔhwehwɛ Awurade, na monka nkyerɛ no sɛ, Sei na Awurade, Israel Onyankopɔn ka fa asɛm a woate no seesei no ho.
And to the king of Juda that sent you to enquire of the Lord, —thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, [As for] the words which thou hast heard;
19 Wotee asɛm a meka de tiaa kuropɔn no ne emu nnipa no sɛ, wɔbɛdome saa asase yi na ada mpan no, ɛyɛɛ wo ya, ma wobrɛɛ wo ho ase Awurade anim. Wode ahometeɛ sunsuanee wo ntadeɛ mu, suu wɔ mʼanim ahonu mu. Enti, nokorɛm, Awurade se, ‘mate wo sufrɛ.
because thy heart was softened, and thou was humbled before [me], when thou heardest all that I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants of it, that it should be utterly destroyed and accursed, and thou didst rend thy garments, and weep before me; I also have heard, saith the Lord.
20 Amanehunu a mehyɛɛ ho bɔ de tiaa kuropɔn yi no bɛba wo wuo ne wosie akyi. Worenhunu amanehunu a mede bɛba kuropɔn yi so no.’” Enti, wɔsane de ne nkra no kɔmaa ɔhene no.
It shall not be so [therefore]: behold, I [will] add thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy tomb in peace, and thine eyes shall not see [any] among all the evils which I bring upon this place.
