< 2 Berɛsosɛm 12 >
1 Rehoboam timiiɛ na ɔyɛɛ den no, ɔgyaa Awurade mmara, na Israel nyinaa dii nʼakyi wɔ saa bɔne yi mu.
And it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
2 Esiane sɛ na wɔnni Awurade nokorɛ no enti, afe a ɛtɔ so enum wɔ ɔhene Rehoboam adedie mu no, Misraimhene Sisak kɔto hyɛɛ Yerusalem so.
And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against the LORD,
3 Ɔde nteaseɛnam apem ahanu, apɔnkɔsotefoɔ ɔpeduosia ne anammɔntwa asraafoɔ a wɔntumi nkan wɔn dodoɔ a Libiafoɔ, Sukifoɔ ne Etiopiafoɔ ka ho na ɛbaeɛ.
with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4 Sisak dii Yudafoɔ nkuro a wɔabɔ ho ban no so nkonim, na ɔtu tenee sɛ ɔrekɔto ahyɛ Yerusalem nso so.
And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.
5 Odiyifoɔ Semaia hyiaa Rehoboam ne Yuda mpanimfoɔ a Sisak enti, wɔadwane aba Yerusalem. Semaia ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie! Moagya me enti, me nso meregya mo ama Sisak.”
Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
6 Ɔhene no ne Israel mpanimfoɔ brɛɛ wɔn ho ase, kaa sɛ, “Awurade di bem sɛ ɔyɛɛ yɛn saa!”
Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
7 Awurade hunuu sɛ wɔanu wɔn ho no, ɔde saa nkra yi somaa Semaia: “Esiane sɛ nnipa no abrɛ wɔn ho ase enti, merensɛe wɔn korakora na ɛrenkyɛre, mɛma wɔn ahomegyeɛ. Meremfa Sisak so nna mʼabufuo adi wɔ Yerusalem so.
And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them: but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8 Nanso, wɔbɛyɛ nʼasomfoɔ sɛdeɛ ɛbɛkyerɛ wɔn sɛ, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔsom me sene sɛ wɔbɛsom ewiase ahemfo.”
Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
9 Enti, Misraimhene Sisak baa Yerusalem bɛsesaa agyapadeɛ a ɛwɔ Awurade Asɔredan no mu ne ahemfie hɔ nneɛma a Salomo sikakɔkɔɔ akokyɛm no nyinaa ka ho.
So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all away: he took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10 Akyire no, ɔhene Rehoboam de kɔbere mfrafraeɛ akokyɛm sii anan, na ɔde hyɛɛ wɔn a wɔwɛn no no panin nsa sɛ ɔnhwɛ so.
And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, that kept the door of the king’s house.
11 Ɛberɛ biara a ɔhene no bɛkɔ Awurade Asɔredan no mu no, awɛmfoɔ no soa kɔ hɔ, na wɔasane de akɔgu adekoradan a wɔwɛn no mu.
And it was so, that as oft as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.
12 Esiane sɛ Rehoboam brɛɛ ne ho ase enti, Awurade abufuo no firii ne so, enti wansɛe no korakora. Ɛmaa yiedie kɔɔ so wɔ Yuda asase so.
And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things [found].
13 Ɔhene Rehoboam timiiɛ wɔ Yerusalem, na ɔtoaa so dii ɔhene. Ɛberɛ a ɔdii adeɛ no, na wadi mfirinhyia aduanan baako.
So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14 Na ɔyɛ ɔhene bɔne, ɛfiri sɛ, wamfa nʼakoma nyinaa anhwehwɛ Awurade akyiri ɛkwan.
And he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek the LORD.
15 Wɔatwerɛ Rehoboam ahennie ho nsɛm nkaeɛ no a ɛfiri ahyɛaseɛ kɔsi awieeɛ no wɔ odiyifoɔ Semaia nwoma ne nhunumuni Ido nwoma a ɛyɛ awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ nwoma no fa bi mu. Ɛberɛ biara, na akokoakoko wɔ Rehoboam ne Yeroboam ntam.
Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16 Ɛberɛ a Rehoboam wuiɛ no, wɔsiee no wɔ Dawid kurom. Na ne babarima Abia dii nʼadeɛ sɛ ɔhene.
And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
