< 1 Samuel 30 >

1 Nnansa so, Dawid ne ne mmarima kɔduruu Siklag. Na Amalekfoɔ abɛto ahyɛ Negeb so ahye Siklag pasaa.
And it came to pass, when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had made a raid upon the South, and upon Ziklag, and had smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire,
2 Wɔkyekyeree mmaa ne wɔn a wɔwɔ mu nyinaa a ɛyɛ mmɔfra ne mpanin. Wɔankum wɔn mu biara, na mmom, wɔsoaa wɔn de wɔn kɔeɛ.
and had taken captive the women and all that were in it, both small and great. They did not kill any, but carried them off, and went their way.
3 Ɛberɛ a Dawid ne ne mmarima no hunuu sɛdeɛ Siklag asɛeɛ ne asɛm a ato wɔn abusuafoɔ no,
And when David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire. And their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captive.
4 wɔtwaa agyaadwoɔ ara kɔsii sɛ afei na wɔntumi ntwa agyaadwoɔ no bio.
Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 Dawid yerenom baanu a wɔne Yesreelni Ahinoam ne Karmelni Abigail a na ɔyɛ Nabal yere no ka wɔn a wɔsoaa wɔn kɔeɛ no ho.
And David's two wives were taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6 Dawid ho yeraa no yie, ɛfiri sɛ, na mmarima no adwene ho sɛ wɔbɛsi no aboɔ, ɛsiane, wɔn mmammarima ne wɔn mmammaa a wɔakyekye wɔn no enti. Nanso, Dawid nyaa ahoɔden wɔ Awurade, ne Onyankopɔn mu.
And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters. But David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God.
7 Na Dawid ka kyerɛɛ ɔsɔfoɔ Abiatar, sɛ, “Fa asɔfotadeɛ no brɛ me.” Na Abiatar de baeɛ.
And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, I pray thee, bring me here the ephod. And Abiathar brought there the ephod to David.
8 Na Dawid bisaa Awurade sɛ, “Menti ɛdɔm no anaa? Mɛto wɔn anaa?” Awurade buaa no sɛ, “Aane, ti wɔn. Na biribiara a wɔafa afiri mo nkyɛn no, mo nsa bɛka ne nyinaa.”
And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, If I pursue after this troop, shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue, for thou shall surely overtake them, and shall without fail recover all.
9 Enti, Dawid ne ne mmarima ahansia no sii ɛkwan so. Ankyɛre biara na wɔduruu Besor asuwa no so.
So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those who were left behind stayed.
10 Nanso, mmarima no mu ahanu deɛ, na wɔabrɛbrɛ yie enti, wɔantumi antwa asuo no. Ɛno enti, Dawid de akodɔm ahanan a wɔaka no toaa so.
But David pursued, he and four hundred men, for two hundred stayed behind, who were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
11 Dawid akodɔm no bi hunuu Misraimni barima bi wɔ wiram hɔ na wɔde no brɛɛ Dawid. Wɔmaa no burodo sɛ ɔnni ne nsuo sɛ ɔnnom.
And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread. And he ate, and they gave him water to drink.
12 Wɔsane maa no borɔdɔma ɔfam sin bi ne bobe aba abɔnta, ɛfiri sɛ, na hwee nkaa nʼano nnansa awia ne anadwo. Ankyɛre na ɔnyaa ahoɔden.
And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins. And when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him, for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
13 Dawid bisaa no sɛ, “Hwan onipa ne wo, na wofiri he?” Ɔbuaa sɛ, “Meyɛ Misraimni, na Amalekni bi akoa ne me. Nnansa ni na me wura gyaa me hɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, na meyare.
And David said to him, To whom do thou belong? And from where are thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite. And my master left me because three days ago I fell sick.
14 Yɛkɔtuaa Keretifoɔ wɔ Negeb a ɛyɛ Yudaman wɔ Kaleb asase so, na yɛhyee Siklag nkyɛreeɛ.”
We made a raid upon the South of the Cherethites, and upon that which belongs to Judah, and upon the South of Caleb, and we burned Ziklag with fire.
15 Dawid bisaa no sɛ, “Enti, wobɛdi mʼanim akɔ wɔn nkyɛn?” Aberanteɛ no buaa sɛ, “Sɛ wode Onyankopɔn din bɛka ntam sɛ worenkum me anaa worensane mfa me mma me wura deɛ a, ɛnneɛ, mɛdi wʼanim de wo akɔ.”
And David said to him, Will thou bring me down to this troop? And he said, Swear to me by God, that thou will neither kill me, nor deliver me up into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this troop.
16 Na Misraimni no dii wɔn anim kɔɔ Amalekfoɔ no atenaeɛ. Ɛberɛ a Dawid ne ne mmarima no duruu hɔ no, na Amalekfoɔ no ahwete wɔ ɛserɛ no so a wɔredidi nom na wɔde ahosɛpɛ resa, ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔanya asadeɛ bebree afiri Filistifoɔ nkyɛn ne Yuda asase so.
And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad over all the ground, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17 Dawid ne ne mmarima to hyɛɛ wɔn so, kunkumm wɔn wɔ akofena ano anadwo mu no nyinaa, kɔsii adekyeeɛ no anwummerɛ. Amalekfoɔ no mu biara antumi annwane, agye mmarima ahanan a wɔtenatenaa nyoma so dwaneeɛ no.
And David smote them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day. And there escaped not a man of them, except four hundred young men who rode upon camels and fled.
18 Dawid gyee biribiara a Amalekfoɔ no faeɛ, sane gyee ne yerenom baanu no.
And David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and David rescued his two wives.
19 Biribiara anyera: sɛ ɛyɛ ketewa anaa kɛseɛ, ɔbabarima anaa ɔbabaa anaa biribiara a wɔfom faeɛ no, Dawid de ne nyinaa sane baeɛ.
And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor anything that they had taken to them; David brought back all.
20 Nʼakodɔm no kaa nnwan ne anantwie no so, de wɔn baeɛ. Na wɔkaa sɛ, “Yeinom nyinaa wɔ Dawid sɛ nʼadwuma pa so akatua.”
And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drove before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.
21 Na wɔduruu Besor asuwa no so na wɔhunuu mmarima ahanu a ɔbrɛ dodoɔ enti, wɔantumi ne wɔn ankɔ no. Dawid kyeaa wɔn anigyeɛ so.
And David came to the two hundred men, who were so faint that they could not follow David, whom also they had made to abide at the brook Besor. And they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people who were with him. And when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
22 Nanso, Dawid mmarima no mu asɛmpɛfoɔ bi kaa sɛ, “Wɔne yɛn ankɔ enti, wɔrennya asadeɛ no bi. Momfa wɔn yerenom ne wɔn mma mma wɔn, na monka nkyerɛ wɔn sɛ, wɔmfiri yɛn ani so nkɔ.”
Then answered all the wicked men and base fellows of those who went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them anything of the spoil that we have recovered except to every man his wife and his children that he may lead them away, and depart.
23 Nanso, Dawid kaa sɛ, “Dabi, anuanom! Monnyɛ deɛ Awurade de ama yɛn no ho pɛsɛmenkomenya. Wakora yɛn so, aboa yɛn ama yɛadi yɛn atamfoɔ so nkonim.
Then David said, Ye shall not do so, my brothers, with that which Jehovah has given to us, who has preserved us, and delivered the troop that came against us into our hand.
24 Mogye di sɛ sɛ moka no saa a, obi bɛtie mo? Sɛ yɛrekyɛ a, momma yɛnkyɛ no pɛ mma wɔn a wɔkɔ sa ne wɔn a wɔhwɛ akodeɛ so nyinaa.”
And who will hearken to you in this matter? For as his share is who goes down to the battle so shall his share be who remains by the baggage; they shall share alike.
25 Ɛfiri saa ɛberɛ no, Dawid yɛɛ yei mmara, maa Israel nyinaa na wɔgu so di so saa ara de bɛsi ɛnnɛ.
And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.
26 Ɛberɛ a Dawid duruu Siklag no, ɔsoma maa wɔde asadeɛ no bi kɔmaa Yuda mpanimfoɔ a na wɔyɛ ne nnamfonom kaa sɛ, “Mo akyɛdeɛ a yɛfa firi Awurade atamfoɔ nsam nie.”
And when David came to Ziklag, he sent from the spoil to the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold, a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of Jehovah:
27 Wɔde akyɛdeɛ no kɔmaa ntuanofoɔ a wɔwɔ Bet-El, Ramot a ɛwɔ anafoɔ fam, Yatir.
to those who were in Bethel, and to those who were in Ramoth of the South, and to those who were in Jattir,
28 Aroer, Sifmot, Estemoa,
and to those who were in Aroer, and to those who were in Siphmoth, and to those who were in Eshtemoa,
29 Rakal ne wɔn a wɔwɔ Yerahmeelfoɔ nkuro mu ne wɔn a wɔwɔ Kenifoɔ kuro mu,
and to those who were in Racal, and to those who were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to those who were in the cities of the Kenites,
30 ne wɔn a wɔwɔ Horma, Bor-Asan, Atak,
and to those who were in Hormah, and to those who were in Borashan, and to those who were in Athach,
31 Hebron ne mmeaemmeae a Dawid ne ne mmarima kyinkyinii hɔ nyinaa.
and to those who were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were accustomed to frequent.
