< 1 Petro 3 >

1 Saa ara nso na ɔyerenom nso ɛsɛ sɛ mobrɛ mo ho ase ma mo kununom sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a, sɛ wɔn mu bi nnye asɛm no nni a, mo suban pa no bɛtwetwe wɔn ama wɔagye asɛm no adi. Ɛho nhia sɛ mobɛka biribi,
Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the deportment of the wives;
2 ɛfiri sɛ wɔbɛhunu obuo ne anidie a mode ma Onyankopɔn wɔ mo suban mu.
While they behold your chaste manner of life [coupled] with fear.
3 Mommma ɔhonam mu asiesie nnyɛ mo dadwene; sɛ ɛyɛ ɛkwan a mofa so kyekyere mo ti, anaa adwinneɛ a mode siesie mo ho, anaa ntoma a mofira.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing gold, or of putting on apparel;
4 Momfa ɔdwoɔ ne ahobrɛaseɛ nkyerɛ mo ahoɔfɛ a ɛyɛ akomamuteɛ no. Saa ahoɔfɛ yi kyɛre na ɛsɔ Onyankopɔn ani.
But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 Saa ɛkwan yi so na mmaa agyidifoɔ a wɔtenaa ase tete no a na wɔwɔ anidasoɔ wɔ Onyankopɔn mu no nam brɛɛ wɔn ho ase maa wɔn kununom, de kyerɛɛ wɔn ahoɔfɛ.
For after this manner in former times the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
6 Sara yɛɛ saa ara. Ɔtiee Abraham asɛm frɛɛ no “Me wura.” Seesei sɛ moyɛ papa na monsuro hwee a, moyɛ ne mmammaa.
Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Deɛ ɛtwa toɔ, Mo nyinaa montena ase asomdwoeɛ mu. Monnya ɔtema mma mo ho mo ho. Monnodɔ mo ho mo ho, na monyɛ ahummɔborɔ, na mommrɛ mo ho ase.
Finally, [be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another; love as brethren, [be] pitiful, [be] courteous:
9 Mommfa bɔne ntua bɔne so ka, na mommfa ɔyea nso ntua ɔyea so ka. Na mmom, daa, monhyirahyira, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛno enti na wɔfrɛɛ mo na moanya nhyira.
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary, blessing; knowing that ye are called to this, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 Ɛfiri sɛ, Atwerɛsɛm no ka sɛ, “Obiara a ɔpɛ sɛ ɔtena ase yie na ɔhunu nna pa no, ɛnsɛ sɛ ɔka kasa bɔne, na ɛsɛ sɛ ɔgyae atorɔtwa.
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Ɛsɛ sɛ ɔte ne ho firi bɔne ho na ɔyɛ papa na ɔti asomdwoeɛ akyi na ɔdi akyire.
Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12 Ɛfiri sɛ, Awurade ani wɔ ateneneefoɔ so na ɔtie wɔn mpaeɛbɔ na ɔtia wɔn a wɔyɛ bɔne.”
For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] to their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.
13 Sɛ wopere sɛ wopɛ sɛ woyɛ deɛ ɛtene a, hwan na ɔbɛha wo?
And who [is] he that will harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?
14 Na sɛ ɛba mpo sɛ woyɛ deɛ ɛtene na wohunu ho amane a, wʼani gye. Monnsuro nnipa, na mommma hwee nha mo.
But if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy [are ye]: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 Momfa anidie mma Kristo wɔ mo akoma mu, na momma ɔnyɛ mo Awurade. Ɛberɛ biara a obi bɛbisa mo gyidie a mowɔ wɔ mo mu ho asɛm no, monkyerɛ no aseɛ.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
16 Momfa obuo ne anidie mma saa mmuaeɛ no. Momma mo adwene mu nna hɔ sɛdeɛ wɔn a wɔsopa mo suban pa wɔ Kristo mu no anim bɛgu ase wɔ wɔn nsekuro no ho.
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evil-doers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good deportment in Christ.
17 Ɛfiri sɛ, sɛ ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn pɛ sɛ mobɛhunu amane a, ɛyɛ sɛ mobɛhunu ade tenenee a moyɛeɛ ho amane sene sɛ mobɛyɛ bɔne.
For [it is] better, if the will of God is so, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing.
18 Ɛfiri sɛ, Kristo no ankasa wu maa mo. Ɔwuu pɛnkorɔ maa mo bɔne sɛdeɛ ɛbɛma moatumi akɔ Onyankopɔn nkyɛn. Wɔkumm no honam mu, nanso ɔsɔree honhom mu,
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:
19 na ɔnam honhom no so kɔkaa Asɛmpa no kyerɛɛ ahonhom a wɔda afiase no.
By which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison;
20 Ahonhom yi yɛɛ asoɔden tiaa Onyankopɔn ɛberɛ a Noa resene ne hyɛn no, nanso Onyankopɔn too ne bo ase maa wɔn. Onyankopɔn nam nsuo no so gyee nnipa baawɔtwe nkwa.
Who formerly were disobedient, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water.
21 Ɛno na afei ne sɛso ne asubɔ a ɛgye mo nkwa seesei no. Ɛnyɛ honam ani efi hohoro, na mmom, ɛyɛ bɔ a wɔfiri ahonim pa mu hyɛ Onyankopɔn. Ɛnam Yesu Kristo wusɔreɛ so gye mo nkwa.
The like figure to which, [even] baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God, ) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Kristo kɔ ɔsoro afei, na ɔte Onyankopɔn nifa so na ɔdi ɔhene wɔ abɔfoɔ nyinaa ne ewiem atumfoɔ so.
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels, and authorities, and powers being made subject to him.
