1 Na Tirohene Huram yɛ ɔhene Dawid adamfo nokwafoɔ, enti ɛberɛ a ɔtee sɛ wɔasra Salomo ngo sɛ ɔhene sɛ ɔnni nʼagya Dawid adeɛ no, ɔsomaa nʼasomafoɔ kɔɔ Salomo nkyɛn, kɔmaa no tiri nkwa.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon: for he heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram had always been David’s friend.
2 Salomo too saa nkra yi sɛ wɔmfa nkɔma Huram sɛ,
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:
3 “Wo ara wonim sɛ mʼagya Dawid antumi ansi asɔredan anhyɛ Awurade ne Onyankopɔn din animuonyam, ɛsiane akokoakoko a ɔne aman a wɔatwa ne ho ahyia no diiɛ enti. Wantumi anyɛ kɔsii sɛ Awurade de nʼatamfoɔ hyɛɛ ne nan ase.
Thou knowest the will of David my father, and that he could not build a house to the name of the Lord his God, because of the wars that were round about him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Nanso, seesei, Awurade, me Onyankopɔn ama me ahotɔ wɔ afa nyinaa, menni ɔtamfoɔ biara na biribiara rekɔ yie.
But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about: and there is no adversary nor evil occurrence.
5 Ne saa enti, mayɛ adwene sɛ mɛsi asɔredan ama Awurade, me Onyankopɔn sɛdeɛ Awurade ka kyerɛɛ mʼagya Dawid sɛ me na mɛyɛ no. ‘Wo ba a mede no bɛtena ahennwa so, asi wʼananmu no bɛsi asɔredan ahyɛ me din animuonyam.’
Wherefore I purpose to build a temple to the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spoke to David my father, saying: my son, whom I will set upon the throne in thy piece, he shall build a house to my name.
6 “Ɛno enti, hyɛ ma wɔnkɔtwa ntweneduro a ɛfiri Lebanon mmrɛ me. Me mmarima ne wo mmarima bɛyɛ adwuma, na akatua biara a wobɛgye ama wɔn no, mɛtua. Wo ara wonim sɛ, obiara nkyɛn Sidonfoɔ wɔ nnuabuo mu.”
Give orders therefore that thy servants cut me down cedar trees out of Libanus, and let my servants be with thy servants: and I will give thee the hire of thy servants whatsoever thou wilt ask, for thou knowest how there is not among my people a man that has skill to hew wood like to the Sidonians.
7 Ɛberɛ a Huram tee Salomo nkra no, nʼani sɔɔ yie kaa sɛ, “Ayɛyie nka Awurade ɛnnɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, wama Dawid ɔba nyansafoɔ sɛ ɔmmɛdi saa ɔman kɛseɛ Israel yi so.”
Now when Hiram had heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced exceedingly, and said: Blessed be the Lord God this day, who hath given to David a very wise son over this numerous people.
8 Enti, Huram soma maa wɔde saa nkra yi kɔmaa Salomo sɛ, “Me nsa aka nkra a wode brɛɛ me no, na mɛyɛ wʼabisadeɛ a ɛfa nnua no ho no. Mɛtumi de ntweneduro nnua ne pepeaa nnua abrɛ wo.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: I have heard all thou hast desired of me: and I will do all thy desire concerning cedar trees, and fir trees.
9 Mʼasomfoɔ de nnua no bɛfiri Lebanon mmepɔ so aba Po Kɛseɛ so, na wɔakyekyere abobɔ mu sɛ mpata. Afei wɔde bɛfa nsuo no ani de akɔ baabiara wobɛkyerɛ. Ɛno akyi yɛbɛsane mu, na yɛde nnua no abrɛ wo. Wode aduane a me fiefoɔ bɛdi bɛtua me ka.”
My servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea: and I will put them together in floats in the sea, and convey them to the place, which thou shalt signify to me; and will land them there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt allow me necessaries, to furnish food for my household.
10 Enti, Huram maa Salomo ntweneduro ne pepeaa nnua sɛdeɛ ɔpɛ.
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees, and fir trees, according to all his desire.
11 Na Salomo maa Huram atokoɔ afeduane akatua tɔno 3,600 de maa ne fidua ne ngo kronkron galɔn 120,000.
And Solomon allowed Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat, for provision for his house, and twenty measures of the purest oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram every year.
12 Na Awurade maa Salomo nyansa a emu dɔ, sɛdeɛ ɔhyɛɛ no bɔ no. Na Huram ne Salomo yɛɛ asomdwoeɛ apam.
And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they two made a league together.
13 Na ɔhene Salomo twerɛɛ adwumayɛfoɔ ɔpeduasa a wɔfiri Israel nyinaa din.
And king Solomon chose workmen cut of all Israel, and the levy was of thirty thousand men.
14 Ɔsomaa wɔn akuakuo kɔɔ Lebanon, bosome biara mu, nnipa ɔpedu kɔ, sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a, ɔbarima baako biara bɛdi bosome baako wɔ Lebanon, na wadi abosome mmienu wɔ efie. Adoniram na na ɔhwɛ saa adwumayɛfoɔ yi so.
And he sent them to Libanus, ten thousand every month by turns, so that two months they were at home: and Adoniram was over this levy.
15 Salomo nso faa nnesoasoafoɔ ɔpeduɔson; faa abopaefoɔ ɔpeduɔwɔtwe firii bepɔ asase no so
And Solomon had seventy thousand to carry burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountain:
16 ne wɔn so sohwɛfoɔ mpem ahasa ne ahansia a, wɔbɛhwɛ adwuma no so.
Besides the overseers who were over every work, in number three thousand, and three hundred that ruled over the people, and them that did the work.
17 Ɔhene no hyɛeɛ ma abotwafoɔ no paeeɛ, twaa aboɔdenboɔ no, yiyii ho sɛdeɛ wɔde bɛhyɛ Asɔredan no fapem.
And the king commanded, that they should bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the temple, and should square them:
18 Mmarima a wɔfiri Gebal kuropɔn mu boaa Salomo ne Huram adansifoɔ no, ma wɔsiesiee nnua ne aboɔ no maa Asɔredan no sie.
And the masons of Solomon, and the masons of Hiram hewed them: and the Giblians prepared timber and stones to build the house.
