< 1 Ahemfo 17 >
1 Afei, Elia a ɔfiri Tisbi a ɛwɔ Gilead no ka kyerɛɛ ɔhene Ahab sɛ, “Mmerɛ dodoɔ a Awurade, Onyankopɔn a mesɔre no som no, Israel Onyankopɔn te ase yi, ɛbɔ rensi, na osuo nso rentɔ mfeɛ kakra bi mu, gye sɛ ɛnam mʼasɛm so.”
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word."
2 Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Elia sɛ,
And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
3 “Kɔ asuo Kerit a ɛwɔ apueeɛ fam no a ɛbɔ Asubɔnten Yordan mu no, na kɔhinta hɔ.
"Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Wadi Cherith, that is near the Jordan.
4 Nom asuo no mu nsuo, na di deɛ anene no de bɛbrɛ wo, ɛfiri sɛ, mahyɛ sɛ wɔmmrɛ wo aduane.”
And it shall be that you will drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."
5 Enti, Elia yɛɛ sɛdeɛ Awurade aka akyerɛ no no. Ɔbɔɔ atenaeɛ wɔ asuo Kerit ho.
So he went and did according to the word of the LORD; for he went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, that is near the Jordan.
6 Anene no brɛɛ no burodo ne ɛnam anɔpa ne anwummerɛ biara, na ɔnom nsuo firii asuo no mu.
And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening. And he drank from the wadi.
7 Na akyire yi, asuo no weeɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, na osuo ntɔ wɔ asase no so baabiara.
And it happened after a while that the wadi dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
8 Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Elia sɛ,
The word of the LORD came to him, saying,
9 “Kɔ na kɔtena akuraa Sarefat a ɛbɛn Sidon kuro no mu. Okunafoɔ bi wɔ hɔ a ɔbɛma wo aduane adi. Makyerɛ no deɛ ɔnyɛ.”
"Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Look, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you."
10 Na Elia kɔɔ Sarefat. Ɔduruu kuro no abɔntenpono no ano no, ɔhunuu okunafoɔ bi a ɔrehwehwɛ mmabaa. Ɔbisaa no sɛ, “Mesrɛ wo, wobɛtumi ama me nsuo kuruwama bi?”
So he got up and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, look, a widow was there gathering wood. And he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a little water in a pitcher, that I may drink."
11 Ɔrekɔsa nsuo no aba no, ɔsrɛɛ no sɛ, “Ɛyɛ a fa burodo sini bi nso ka ho.”
And as she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand."
12 Okunafoɔ no kaa sɛ, “Meka Awurade, wo Onyankopɔn no ntam sɛ, menni burodo sini koraa wɔ fie. Na deɛ mewɔ wɔ efie yɛ asikyiresiam kakra ne ngo toa ase kakraa bi. Mekɔpɛɛ mmabaa kakra a mede bɛnoa aduane a ɛtwa toɔ, na me ne me babarima adi, na afei yɛawuwu.”
She said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have anything baked, except a handful of flour in a jar, and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."
13 Nanso, Elia ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Nsuro! Kɔ na kɔnoa aduane a ɛtwa toɔ no. Nanso, ɛyɛ a, to burodo ketewa bi di ɛkan ma me ansa. Na ɛno akyi no, aduane bebree bɛka ama wo ne wo ba no.
And Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said. But make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for yourself and for your son.
14 Na deɛ Awurade, Israel Onyankopɔn ka ne sɛ, ‘Daa asikyiresiam ne ngo pii bɛka wɔ wo adekoradeɛ no mu kɔsi ɛberɛ a Awurade bɛma osuo atɔ, ama nnɔbaeɛ anyini bio.’”
For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'The jar of flour shall not empty, neither shall the jug of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the surface of the land.'"
15 Na ɔyɛɛ sɛdeɛ Elia kaeɛ no. Enti ɔno, Elia ne ne ba no kɔɔ so dii asikyiresiam ne ngo a na ɔwɔ no ara nna bebree.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah. And she, and he, and her household, ate for a long time.
16 Ɛberɛ biara na wɔwɔ asikyiresiam ne ngo a ɛbɛso wɔn di wɔ wɔn adekoradeɛ mu sɛdeɛ Awurade nam Elia so hyɛɛ ho bɔ no.
The jar of flour did not empty, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.
17 Akyire yi, ɔbaa no babarima no yareeɛ. Yadeɛ no kɔɔ so ara kɔsii sɛ abɔfra no wuiɛ.
It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
18 Ɔbaa no bisaa Elia sɛ, “Ao, Onyankopɔn onipa, ɛdeɛn na woayɛ me yi? Wobaa ha sɛ worebɛtwe mʼaso wɔ me bɔne a mayɛ ho enti na woakum me ba yi?”
And she said to Elijah, "What do we have in common, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son."
19 Nanso, Elia ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Fa wo ba no ma me.” Na ɔgyee abarimaa no firii ne nsam. Ɔde no kɔɔ ɛsoro dan bi a wɔsoɛɛ no mu no mu. Ɔde owufoɔ no too ne mpa so.
And he said to her, "Give me your son." And he took him out of her lap and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.
20 Elia su guu Awurade so sɛ, “Ao, Awurade, adɛn enti na wode saa awerɛhoɔ yi abɛto okunafoɔ yi a ɔde ne fie asom me hɔhoɔ yi so, na wama ne ba awuo yi?”
He cried to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, have you also brought disaster on the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?"
21 Ɔbutuu abɔfra no so mprɛnsa, su guu Awurade so sɛ, “Ao Awurade, me Onyankopɔn, mesrɛ, ma abɔfra yi nnya nkwa bio.”
And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called out to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, please let this child's soul come into him again."
22 Awurade tiee Elia mpaeɛbɔ, na abɔfra no nyaa nkwa bio.
The LORD listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23 Enti, Elia de no firi soro hɔ brɛɛ ne maame, ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Hwɛ, wo ba no anyane.”
And Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the room into the house and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives."
24 Na ɔbaa no ka kyerɛɛ Elia sɛ, “Afei, mahunu pefee sɛ woyɛ Onyankopɔn onipa, na Awurade kasa fa wo so ampa.”
And the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth."
