< 1 Ahemfo 13 >
1 Awurade hyɛɛ Onyame onipa bi ma ɔkɔɔ Bet-El, na ɔduruu hɔ ɛberɛ a na Yeroboam rekɔ afɔrebukyia no ho akɔbɔ afɔdeɛ.
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth-el; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to offer.
2 Na ɔfiri Awurade ɔhyɛ nsɛm mu teaam guu afɔrebukyia no sɛ, “Ao, afɔrebukyia! Afɔrebukyia! Sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie: ‘Wɔbɛwo ɔbabarima bi a wɔbɛto no edin Yosia ato Dawid fie, na wo so na ɔde asɔfoɔ a wɔfiri asɔreeɛ so ha a wɔhye aduhwam ne nnipa nnompe no bɛbɔ afɔdeɛ!’”
And he cried against the altar by the word of the LORD, and said: 'O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD: Behold, a son shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that offer upon thee, and men's bones shall they burn upon thee.'
3 Ɛda no ara, Onyankopɔn onipa no yɛɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ, na ɔkaa sɛ, “Yei ne nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a Awurade ada no adi. Afɔrebukyia no mu bɛpae mmienu, na nsõ a ɛgu soɔ no ahwie agu.”
And he gave a sign the same day saying: 'This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.'
4 Ɔhene Yeroboam bo fuu Onyame onipa yi sɛ wakasa atia afɔrebukyia yi. Enti ɔtenee ne nsa wɔ ne so, teaam sɛ, “Monkyere no!” Nanso, ne nsa a ɔtenee wɔ ɔbarima no so no senseneeɛ a wantumi anyɛ ho hwee.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Beth-el, that Jeroboam put forth his hand from the altar, saying: 'Lay hold on him.' And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back to him.
5 Na afɔrebukyia no mu paee mmienu, na nsõ a ɛgu so no hwie guiɛ, sɛdeɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a Onyankopɔn onipa nam Awurade ɔhyɛ nsɛm so daa no adi kyerɛeɛ no.
The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
6 Afei, ɔhene no srɛɛ Onyankopɔn onipa no sɛ, “Srɛ Awurade, wo Onyankopɔn, ma me na me nsa no nnya ahoɔden.” Enti, Onyankopɔn onipa no srɛɛ Awurade maa no, na ɔhene no nsa nyaa ahoɔden ma ɛyɛɛ sɛdeɛ na ɛteɛ kane no.
And the king answered and said unto the man of God: 'Entreat now the favour of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me.' And the man of God entreated the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him, and became as it was before.
7 Afei, ɔhene no ka kyerɛɛ Onyankopɔn onipa no sɛ, “Ma yɛnkɔ fie, na kɔdidi, na mɛma wo akyɛdeɛ bi.”
And the king said unto the man of God: 'Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.'
8 Nanso, Onyankopɔn onipa no buaa no sɛ, “Mpo, sɛ wode wʼagyapadeɛ mu fa bɛkyɛ me koraa a, me ne wo renkɔ, na burodo nso, merenni na manom nsuo wɔ ha.
And the man of God said unto the king: 'If thou wilt give me half thy house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place.
9 Awurade asɛm so na wɔnam hyɛɛ me sɛ, ‘Ɛnsɛ sɛ wodi burodo anaa wonom nsuo wɔ hɔ. Afei, nsane mfa ɛkwan a wofaa so kɔɔ Bet-El no so.’”
For it so was charged me by the word of the LORD, saying: Thou shalt eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that thou camest.'
10 Enti, ɔfiri Bet-El faa ɛkwan foforɔ so, sɛ ɔrekɔ efie.
So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
11 Na ɛbaa sɛ na odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa bi te Bet-El. Ne mmammarima bɛkaa deɛ Onyankopɔn onipa no ayɛ wɔ Bet-El da no nyinaa kyerɛɛ no. Afei, wɔkaa asɛm a waka akyerɛ ɔhene no nyinaa, kyerɛɛ wɔn agya no.
Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the words which he had spoken unto the king, and they told them unto their father.
12 Odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no bisaa wɔn sɛ, “Na ɔfaa he?” Na ne mmammarima no kyerɛɛ no kwan a Onyankopɔn onipa no faa so kɔeɛ.
And their father said unto them: 'What way went he?' For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, that came from Judah.
13 Ɔka kyerɛɛ ne mmammarima no sɛ, “Monhyehyɛ afunumu no mma me ntɛm.” Na wɔhyehyɛɛ afunumu no maa no no, ɔhuri tenaa ne so
And he said unto his sons: 'Saddle me the ass.' So they saddled him the ass; and he rode thereon.
14 tii Onyankopɔn onipa no. Ɔkɔtoo no sɛ ɔte odum bi ase, na odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no bisaa no sɛ, “Wo ne Onyankopɔn onipa a wofiri Yuda no anaa?” Ɔbuaa no sɛ, “Aane, me a.”
And he went after the man of God, and found him sitting under a terebinth; and he said unto him: 'Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah?' And he said: 'I am.'
15 Afei, odiyifoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ma yɛnkɔ efie, na kɔdidi.”
Then he said unto him: 'Come home with me, and eat bread.'
16 Onyankopɔn onipa no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Merentumi nsane mʼakyi. Menni ho ɛkwan sɛ medidi anaa menom nsuo wɔ ha.
And he said: 'I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place.
17 Awurade hyɛɛ me sɛ, ‘Ɛnsɛ sɛ wodi aduane biara anaa wonom nsuo ɛberɛ a wowɔ hɔ, anaa wofa ɛkwan a wofaa so kɔɔ hɔ no so sane wʼakyi.’”
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD: Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn back to go by the way that thou camest.'
18 Odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no buaa sɛ, “Me nso, meyɛ odiyifoɔ sɛ wo ara. Na ɔbɔfoɔ bi kaa Awurade asɛm kyerɛɛ me sɛ, ‘Fa no sane bra wo fie, na ɔmmɛdidi na ɔnnom nsuo.’” Nanso na odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no redaadaa no.
And he said unto him: 'I also am a prophet as thou art; and an angel spoke unto me by the word of the LORD, saying: Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water.' — He lied unto him. —
19 Enti, Onyankopɔn onipa no ne no sane kɔeɛ, kɔdidi nomee wɔ ne fie.
So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.
20 Ɛberɛ a wɔte didipono ho redidi no, nkra firi Awurade nkyɛn baa odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no so.
And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back.
21 Ɔteaam guu Onyankopɔn onipa a ɔfiri Yuda no so sɛ, “Sei na Awurade ka: Woabu Awurade asɛm so, na woanni ahyɛdeɛ a Awurade, wo Onyankopɔn, hyɛɛ wo no so.
And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying: 'Thus saith the LORD: Forasmuch as thou hast rebelled against the word of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,
22 Wosane baa ha bɛdii aduane, nom nsuo, nanso ɔka kyerɛɛ wo sɛ nni hwee, nnom hwee. Esiane yei enti, wɔrensie wʼamu wɔ wʼagyanom damena mu.”
but camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which He said to thee: Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcass shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.'
23 Na Onyankopɔn onipa no didi nom wieeɛ no, odiyifoɔ no hyehyɛɛ nʼafunumu no maa no,
And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, namely, for the prophet whom he had brought back.
24 na Onyankopɔn onipa no sii ɛkwan so bio. Na ɔrekɔ no ara, gyata bi ba bɛkumm no. Nʼamu no daa ɛkwan mu a, na afunumu no ne gyata no gyinagyina ho.
And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him; and his carcass was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it; the lion also stood by the carcass.
25 Nnipa ba bɛtoo so sɛ amu no da ɛkwan mu a gyata no gyina ho. Enti, wɔkɔbɔɔ amaneɛ wɔ Bet-El baabi a odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no te hɔ.
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcass cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcass; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 Ɛberɛ a odiyifoɔ akɔkoraa no tee asɛm no, ɔkaa sɛ, “Ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn onipa no a wanni Awurade ahyɛdeɛ so no. Awurade ama nʼasɛm no aba mu sɛ ɔmaa gyata to hyɛɛ no so, kumm no.”
And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said: 'It is the man of God, who rebelled against the word of the LORD; therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke unto him.'
27 Na odiyifoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ ne mmammarima no sɛ, “Monhyehyɛ afunumu no mma me.” Na wɔhyehyɛɛ afunumu no.
And he spoke to his sons, saying: 'Saddle me the ass.' And they saddled it.
28 Ɔkɔeɛ kɔhunuu sɛ amu no da ɛkwan mu. Na afunumu no ne gyata no da so gyinagyina ne ho a, gyata no nwee amu no, nto nhyɛɛ afunumu no nso so.
And he went and found his carcass cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcass; the lion had not eaten the carcass, nor torn the ass.
29 Enti, odiyifoɔ no faa Onyankopɔn onipa no amu no de no too nʼafunumu no so, sane de no kɔɔ kurom, kɔsuu no, siee no.
And the prophet took up the carcass of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back; and he came to the city of the old prophet, to lament, and to bury him.
30 Ɔde amu no too nʼankasa ne damena mu, firii awerɛhoɔ mu, suu no sɛ, “Ao, me nua!”
And he laid his carcass in his own grave; and they made lamentation for him: 'Alas, my brother!'
31 Akyire yi, odiyifoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ ne mmammarima no sɛ, “Sɛ mɛwu a, monsie me wɔ damena a wɔasie Onyankopɔn onipa wɔ mu no mu. Momfa me nnompe ngu ne nnompe ho.
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying: 'When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Na asɛm a Awurade ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ ɔnka ntia afɔrebukyia a ɛwɔ Bet-El ne abosomfie no a ɛwowɔ Samaria nkuro so no, ɛbɛba mu.”
For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.'
33 Nanso, yei akyi koraa no, Yeroboam annane ne ho amfiri nʼakwammɔne no so. Ɔkɔɔ so yii asɔfoɔ firi nnipa no mu. Obiara a ɔpɛ no, ɔtumi yɛɛ ɔsɔfoɔ wɔ abosomfie hɔ.
After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again from among all the people priests of the high places; whosoever would, he consecrated him, that he might be one of the priests of the high places.
34 Yei bɛyɛɛ bɔne kɛseɛ, na ɛnam so sɛee Yeroboam ahemman, ma ne fiefoɔ nyinaa wuwuiɛ.
And by this thing there was sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
