1 Asɛm bɛn na yɛbɛka afa yɛn honam fam tete agya Abraham ho? Osuahu bɛn na onyae?
What shall we then say that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 Sɛ wɔnam nneɛma a ɔyɛe so buu no bem a, anka ɔwɔ biribi a ɔde bɛhoahoa ne ho. Nanso ɔrentumi nhoahoa ne ho wɔ Onyankopɔn anim.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory, but not before God.
3 Kyerɛwsɛm no kyerɛ yɛn se, “Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn dii; na ɛno so na ɛnam maa Onyankopɔn gyee no sɛ ɔtreneeni no.”
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
4 Onipa a ɔyɛ adwuma no fata nʼakatua; ɛnsɛ sɛ wobu nʼakatua no sɛ akyɛde, na mmom, ɛyɛ biribi a wayɛ ho adwuma anya.
Now to him that worketh, is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 Ɛnyɛ nnwuma bi a onipa yɛ na ɛbɛma Onyankopɔn abu no bem. Onyankopɔn gye nnebɔneyɛfo to mu, efisɛ wɔwɔ gyidi wɔ ne mu.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Dawid ka asɛm koro no ara se nhyira a efi Onyankopɔn nkyɛn ba onipa a Onyankopɔn agye no ato mu so. Saa nhyira yi mfi nnipa nnwuma mu. Ɛno nti Dawid kae se:
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 “Nhyira ne wɔn a wɔde wɔn amumɔyɛ akyɛ wɔn, na wɔakata wɔn bɔne so.
[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Nhyira nka onipa a Awurade mmu ne bɔne ngu ne so da.”
Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9 Saa anigye a Dawid ka ho asɛm no wɔ hɔ ma twetiatwafo nko ana? Dabi. Ɛwɔ hɔ ma wɔn nso a wontwaa twetia no; efisɛ yɛakenkan afi Kyerɛwsɛm no mu se, “Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn dii, na esiane ne gyidi nti, Onyankopɔn gyee no sɛ ɔtreneeni.”
[Cometh] this blessedness then upon the circumcision [only], or upon the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 Bere bɛn na saa asɛm yi sii? Esii ansa na wɔretwa Abraham twetia anaa Abraham twetiatwa no akyi na esii? Esii ansa, na ɛnyɛ twetiatwa no akyi na esii.
How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 Akyiri yi na wotwaa no twetia na ne twetiatwa no yɛ nsɛnkyerɛnne a ɛkyerɛ sɛ, na Onyankopɔn agye no sɛ ɔtreneeni ansa na wɔretwa no twetia. Enti Abraham yɛ Honhom mu agya ma wɔn a wogye Onyankopɔn di nyinaa na wagye wɔn sɛ atreneefo a wontwaa wɔn twetia nso.
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which [he had yet] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they are not circumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also;
12 Saa ara nso na Abraham yɛ agya ma obiara a wɔatwa no twetia na ɔwɔ gyidi sɛnea na Abraham wɔ gyidi ansa na wɔretwa no twetia no.
And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
13 Ɛnyɛ mmara no so na wɔnam hyɛɛ Abraham ne nʼasefo bɔ sɛ wɔbɛyɛ wiase adedifo, mmom ɛnam trenee a efi gyidi mu so.
For the promise that he should be the heir of the world [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 Sɛ wɔn a wodi Mmara so yɛ adedifo a, ɛno de na gyidi nka hwee, na bɔhyɛ no nso so nni mfaso,
For if they who are of the law [are] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of no effect.
15 efisɛ mmara de abufuwhyew ba. Na sɛ mmara nni hɔ a, mmarato nni hɔ.
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, [there is] no transgression.
16 Enti bɔhyɛ no fi gyidi mu sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a ebefi adom mu na ɛbɛtena hɔ ama Abraham asefo nyinaa; ɛnyɛ wɔn a wɔwɔ mmara no ase nko ara, na mmom wɔn a wɔwɔ gyidi sɛ Abraham nso. Ɔyɛ yɛn nyinaa agya.
Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all;
17 Sɛnea wɔakyerɛw no, “Mayɛ wo aman bebree agya.” Onyankopɔn kaa saa, efi sɛ, Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn a ɔma awufo nya nkwa, na ɔyɛ nneɛma foforo fi nea enni hɔ mu dii.
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who reviveth the dead, and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
18 Bere a anidaso asa no, Abraham nyaa anidaso gye dii, enti ɔbɛyɛɛ aman bebree so agya, sɛnea na wɔaka akyerɛ no se, “Saa na wʼasefo bɛyɛ” no.
Who against hope believed with hope, that he should become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 Abraham gyidi anhinhim bere a na ɔreyɛ adi mfe ɔha no mpo. Na onim nso sɛ ɔregye nna awu, na ne yere Sara nso rentumi nwo mma.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.
20 Nanso ne gyidi anhinhim, na wannye Onyankopɔn bɔhyɛ no ho akyinnye. Ɔhyɛɛ ne gyidi mu den de anuonyam maa Onyankopɔn.
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 Na ogye dii yiye sɛ Onyankopɔn betumi ayɛ nea wahyɛ ho bɔ no.
And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Eyi nti wobuu no sɛ trenee maa no.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Wɔkyerɛw se, “Wobuu no sɛ trenee maa no” no, wɔankyerɛw amma ɔno nko ara.
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 Na mmom wɔkyerɛw maa yɛn nso a Onyankopɔn bebu yɛn sɛ atreneefo, yɛn a yegye nea onyan Yesu, yɛn Awurade fii awufo mu di no.
But for us also, to whom it will be imputed, if we believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
25 Yɛn bɔne nti, woyii no maa owu, na wonyan no maa yɛn bembu.
Who was delivered for our offenses, and raised again for our justification.
