< Nnwom 73 >
1 Asaf dwom. Ampa ara Onyankopɔn ye ma Israel, oye ma wɔn a wɔn koma mu tew.
A Psalm by Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
2 Nanso me de, anka me nan reyɛ awatiri; anka merehwere me nnyinaso,
But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.
3 efisɛ mʼani beree ahantanfo bere a mihuu amumɔyɛfo yiyedi no.
For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Wonni aperepere; na wɔwɔ ahoɔden ne apɔwmuden.
For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.
5 Dadwen a ɛtaa ba nnipa so biara nna wɔn so; ɔdesani haw biara nna wɔn so.
They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Enti ahantan yɛ wɔn kɔnmuade, na wofura akakabensɛm.
Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.
7 Wɔn koma a apirim no mu na nnebɔne fi; na wɔn amumɔyɛ adwene nni awiei.
Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
8 Wɔserew afoforo na wɔka wɔn ho nsɛm a enye; wɔde nhyɛso hunahuna afoforo wɔ ahomaso mu.
They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.
9 Wɔn ano ka ɔsoro nsɛm, na wɔn tɛkrɛma agye asase afa.
They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.
10 Ɛno nti wɔn nkurɔfo kɔ wɔn nkyɛn na wonya nsu nom ma ebu so.
Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.
11 Wobisa se, “Ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na Onyankopɔn ahu? Na Ɔsorosoroni no wɔ nhumu ana?”
They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”
12 Sɛɛ na amumɔyɛfo no te, hwee mfa wɔn ho, na wɔkɔ so pɛ ahonyade.
Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.
13 Ampa ara, mannya hwee amfi me komamtew mu; me nsa a enni fɔ no ayɛ ɔkwa.
Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence,
14 Da mu nyinaa mihu amane; anɔpa biara wɔtwe mʼaso.
For all day long I have been plagued, and punished every morning.
15 Sɛ mekae se, “Mɛkasa saa” a, anka midii wo mma no huammɔ.
If I had said, “I will speak thus”, behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
16 Mebɔɔ mmɔden sɛ mɛte eyinom nyinaa ase, nanso na ɛhyɛ me so
When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me—
17 kosii sɛ mekɔɔ Onyankopɔn kronkronbea hɔ; ɛhɔ na metee nea awiei no ɛbɛba wɔn so no ase.
until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end.
18 Ampa ara wode wɔn gu faako a hɔ yɛ toro wode wɔn hwe fam sɛe wɔn pasaa.
Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.
19 Sɛnea wɔsɛe prɛko pɛ, na ehu hwim wɔn kɔ no.
How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.
20 Ɛte sɛ adaeso, bere a onipa anyan, Awurade, sɛ wokanyan wo ho a, wubebu wʼani agu wɔn so sɛ biribi a enni hɔ.
As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.
21 Bere a awerɛhow hyɛɛ me koma mu na me honhom dii yaw no,
For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.
22 meyɛɛ sɛ obi a onnim hwee na onni adwene; meyɛɛ sɛ aboa gyimfo wɔ wʼanim.
I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.
23 Nanso na me ne wo wɔ hɔ bere biara; na wode wo nsa nifa aso me mu.
Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.
24 Wode wʼafotu kyerɛ me kwan; na akyiri no, wode me bɛkɔ anuonyam mu.
You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Hena na mewɔ wɔ ɔsoro ka wo ho? Na biribiara nni asase so a mepɛ ka wo ho.
Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.
26 Me honam, ne me koma bedi me huammɔ, nanso Onyankopɔn ne me koma ahoɔden ne me kyɛfa daa nyinaa.
My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
27 Wɔn a wɔmmɛn wo no bɛyera. Wosɛe wɔn a wonni wo nokware nyinaa.
For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.
28 Nanso me de, minim sɛ eye sɛ wobɛbɛn Onyankopɔn. Mede Otumfo Awurade ayɛ me guankɔbea; mɛka wo nneyɛe nyinaa akyerɛ.
But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
