1 Wɔde ma dwonkyerɛfo. Wɔde sanku na ɛto. Dawid “maskil” dwom. Ao Onyankopɔn, tie me mpaebɔ, mmu wʼani ngu me nkotosrɛ so,
To the Overseer with stringed instruments. — An instruction, by David. Give ear, O God, [to] my prayer, And hide not from my supplication.
2 tie me na gye me so. Me dadwen haw me na ama mayɛ basaa,
Attend to me, and answer me, I mourn in my (meditation) and make a noise,
3 esiane nea me tamfo reka, esiane omumɔyɛfo ahunahuna nti; efisɛ wɔde amanehunu ba me so; na wofi wɔn abufuw mu kum me.
Because of the voice of an enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked, For they cause sorrow to move against me, And in anger they hate me.
4 Me koma wɔ ahoyeraw mu; na owu huboa aba me so.
My heart is pained within me, And terrors of death have fallen on me.
5 Ehu ne ahopopo akyekyere me. Ahodwiriw abu afa me so.
Fear and trembling come in to me, And horror doth cover me.
6 Mekae se, “Ao, sɛ mewɔ ntaban sɛ aburuburu a, anka metu akɔ ama me ho atɔ me,
And I say, 'Who doth give to me a pinion as a dove? I fly away and rest,
7 anka metu akɔ akyirikyiri akɔtena sare so;
Lo, I move far off, I lodge in a wilderness. (Selah)
8 anka mɛyɛ ntɛm akɔ me hintabea, faako a mframahweam ne ahum mmɛn koraa.”
I hasten escape for myself, From a rushing wind, from a whirlwind.
9 Awurade, ma amumɔyɛfo nyɛ basaa, na ma wɔn kasa ntoto, efisɛ mihu basabasayɛ ne aperepere wɔ kuropɔn no mu.
Swallow up, O Lord, divide their tongue, For I saw violence and strife in a city.
10 Awia ne anadwo wɔtetɛw nʼafasu ho; adwemmɔne ne asisi wɔ mu.
By day and by night they go round it, on its walls. Both iniquity and perverseness [are] in its midst,
11 Adesɛefo dɔm reyɛ adwuma wɔ kuropɔn no mu. Ahunahuna ne nnaadaa wɔ ne mmɔnten so daa.
Mischiefs [are] in its midst. Fraud and deceit depart not from its street.
12 Sɛ ɛyɛɛ ɔtamfo na ɔresopa me a, anka metumi agyina ano; sɛ ɛyɛɛ ɔtamfo na ɔrema ne ho so atia me a, anka metumi de me ho ahintaw no.
For an enemy reproacheth me not, or I bear [it], He who is hating me Hath not magnified himself against me, Or I hide from him.
13 Nanso ɛyɛ wo, ɔdesani te sɛ me, me yɔnko, mʼadamfo kann,
But thou, a man — as mine equal, My familiar friend, and mine acquaintance.
14 a kan no na me ne no wɔ ayɔnkofa a mu yɛ den bere a yɛn nyinaa bɔɔ mu yuu kɔɔ Onyankopɔn fi na yɛka asomfo no ho no.
When together we sweeten counsel, Into the house of God we walk in company.
15 Ma owu mmɛfa mʼatamfo mpofirim; ma wɔnkɔ ɔda mu anikann, efisɛ bɔne te wɔn mu. (Sheol h7585)
Desolations [are] upon them, They go down [to] Sheol — alive, For wickedness [is] in their dwelling, in their midst. (Sheol h7585)
16 Nanso misu frɛ Onyankopɔn, na Awurade gye me nkwa.
I — to God I call, and Jehovah saveth me.
17 Anwummere, anɔpa ne awia, mede mmɔborɔnne su frɛ no, na ɔte me nne.
Evening, and morning, and noon, I meditate, and make a noise, and He heareth my voice,
18 Ɔde ne ho bɔ afɔre ma minya me ti didi mu wɔ ako a wodi tia me no mu, mpo dodow na wɔsɔre tia me.
He hath ransomed in peace my soul From him who is near to me, For with the multitude they were with me.
19 Onyankopɔn a wɔasi no hene afebɔɔ no, ɔbɛte wɔn nka na wahaw wɔn, ɔbɛhaw nnipa a wɔnsakra wɔn akwan da na wonsuro Onyankopɔn nso.
God doth hear and afflict them, And He sitteth of old. (Selah) Because they have no changes, and fear not God,
20 Me yɔnko tow hyɛ ne nnamfonom so; na obu nʼapam so.
He hath sent forth his hands against his well-wishers, He hath polluted his covenant.
21 Ɔwɔ tɛkrɛmawo, nanso ɔtan wɔ ne koma mu. Nʼano asɛm dwudwo sen ngo, nanso ɛyɛ afoa a wɔatwe.
Sweeter than honey hath been his mouth, And his heart [is] war! Softer have been his words than oil, And they [are] drawn [swords].
22 Fa wo haw to Awurade so na ɔno na obegye wo; ɔremma ɔtreneeni nhwe ase.
Cast on Jehovah that which He hath given thee, And He doth sustain thee, He doth not suffer for ever the moving of the righteous.
23 Nanso wo, Onyankopɔn, wobɛbrɛ amumɔyɛfo ase ama wɔakɔ ɔporɔw amoa mu; mogyapɛfo ne nnaadaafo renni wɔn nkwanna mu fa. Nanso me de, mede me ho to wo so.
And Thou, O God, dost bring them down To a pit of destruction, Men of blood and deceit reach not to half their days, And I — I do trust in Thee!
