1 Dwom a wɔde ma dwonkyerɛfo. Koramma “maskil” dwom. Ao, Onyankopɔn, yɛde yɛn aso ate; yɛn agyanom aka akyerɛ yɛn; nea woyɛɛ wɔ wɔn bere so, wɔ tete mmere no mu.
“To the chief musician, for the sons of Korach, a Maskil.” O God, with our ears have we heard, our fathers have told us, deeds which thou hadst done in their days, in times of old.
2 Wode wo nsa pam amanaman no na wobɔɔ yɛn agyanom atenase; wodwerɛw nnipa no na womaa yɛn agyanom dii yiye.
Thou, with thy hand, didst indeed drive out nations, and plant them; thou didst ill-treat people, and cause them to spread out.
3 Ɛnyɛ wɔn afoa na wɔde nyaa asase no, na ɛnyɛ wɔn nsa na ɛmaa wɔn nkonimdi; ɛyɛ wo nsa nifa, wo basa, ne wʼanim hann, efisɛ na wodɔ wɔn.
For not by their sword did they obtain possession of the land, and their own arm brought them no victory; but thy right hand, and thy arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst given them thy favor.
4 Woyɛ me Hene ne me Nyankopɔn, nea ɔhyɛ nkonimdi ma Yakob.
Thou art my King, O God: ordain salvation for Jacob.
5 Ɛnam wo so na yɛpam yɛn Atamfo; wo din mu na yetiatia wɔn a wokyi yɛn no so.
Through thee will we butt down our assailants: through thy name will we tread under foot our opponents.
6 Memmfa me ho nto mʼagyan so, mʼafoa remfa nkonimdi mmrɛ me;
For not in my bow will I trust, and my sword shall not help me.
7 na wo na woma yedi yɛn atamfo so wugu wɔn a wɔtan yɛn no anim ase.
But thou helpest us against our assailants, and those that hate us thou puttest to shame.
8 Onyankopɔn mu na yɛhoahoa yɛn ho da mu nyinaa, na yɛbɛkamfo wo din no daa daa.
Of God we boast all the day, and to thy name will we give thanks for ever. (Selah)
9 Nanso mprempren woapo yɛn abrɛ yɛn ase; wone yɛn asraafo nkɔ ɔsa bio.
But [now] thou hast cast off, and put us to the blush, and goest not forth with our armies.
10 Woma yeguan fii dɔm anim, ma yɛn atamfo fom yɛn agyapade.
Thou causest us to turn back from before our assailant: and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.
11 Wuyii yɛn maa sɛ wonkum yɛn sɛ nguan na woahwete yɛn wɔ amanaman no mu.
Thou givest us up like sheep for food, and among the nations hast thou dispersed us.
12 Wotɔn wo nkurɔfo fofoofow, na woannya mfaso biara amfi mu.
Thou sellest thy people for no value, and acquirest no gain by their price.
13 Woayɛ yɛn ahohorade ama yɛn afipamfo, animtiaabude ne aserewde ama wɔn a wɔatwa yɛn ho ahyia.
Thou renderest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us.
14 Woayɛ yɛn kasabebui wɔ aman no mu na nnipa no wosow wɔn ti de gu yɛn so.
Thou renderest us a by-word among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 Mʼanimguase di mʼanim daa, na aniwu akata mʼanim,
All the day is my disgrace before me, and the shame of my face covereth me;
16 esiane wɔn a wɔbɔ me ahohora na wɔkasa tia me de yi me ahi, esiane ɔtamfo a nʼani abere sɛ ɔbɛtɔ were no nti.
Because of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.
17 Eyinom nyinaa too yɛn de, nanso yɛn werɛ mfii wo, na yemmuu wʼapam no nso so ɛ.
All this is come over us, yet have we not forgotten thee; nor have we dealt falsely by thy covenant;
18 Yɛn koma ntwe mfii wo ho; na yɛn anan nso mman mfii wo kwan so ɛ.
Our heart is not moved backward, nor hath our step turned aside from thy path:
19 Nanso wodwerɛw yɛn yɛɛ yɛn sakraman tu na wode sum kabii kataa yɛn so.
Even when thou didst crush us in the abode of monsters, and cover us with the shadow of death.
20 Sɛ na yɛn werɛ afi yɛn Nyankopɔn din anaa sɛ yɛatrɛw yɛn nsam akyerɛ ananafo nyame a,
If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange God:
21 anka Onyankopɔn behu, efisɛ onim koma mu ahintasɛm.
Would not God search out this? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Nanso wo nti wokum yɛn daa nyinaa; wobu yɛn sɛ nguan a wɔrekokum wɔn.
But for thy sake are we slain all the day; we are counted as flocks [destined] for slaughter.
23 Nyan, Awurade! Adɛn nti na woada? Keka wo ho! Nnyaw yɛn hɔ afebɔɔ.
Awake, wherefore wilt thou sleep, O Lord? arise, abandon us not for ever.
24 Adɛn nti na wode wʼanim ahintaw na wo werɛ fi yɛn ahohia ne nhyɛso?
Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, wilt thou forget our misery, and our oppression?
25 Wɔabrɛ yɛn ase kɔ dɔte mu na yɛn nipadua aka afam dɔte.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaveth unto the earth.
26 Sɔre bɛboa yɛn; wʼadɔe a ɛnsa da no nti, gye yɛn.
Arise unto our help, and redeem us for the sake of thy kindness.
