1 Obi a ɔkɔ so yɛ tufoante wɔ animka pii akyi no wɔbɛsɛe no mpofirim a wɔrennya ano aduru.
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 Sɛ atreneefo di yiye a, nnipa no di ahurusi; sɛ amumɔyɛfo di nnipa so a, wusi apini.
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3 Onipa a ɔdɔ nyansa no ma nʼagya anigye, nanso nguamanfo yɔnko sɛe nʼahonya.
He that loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
4 Ɔhene nam atɛntrenee so ma ɔman no asomdwoe, nanso nea ɔde adifudepɛ gye adanmude no bɔ ɔman no.
The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
5 Obiara a ɔdaadaa ne yɔnko no sum ne nan afiri.
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
6 Ɔdebɔneyɛni bɔne sum no afiri, nanso ɔtreneeni betumi ato dwom ama nʼani agye.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 Ahiafo atɛntreneebu ho hia atreneefo, nanso amumɔyɛfo nni saa ɔtema no.
The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
8 Fɛwdifo de basabasayɛ ba kuropɔn mu, nanso anyansafo sianka abufuw.
Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Sɛ onyansafo de ɔkwasea kɔ asennii a, ɔkwasea no bobɔ mu kasa di fɛw, na asomdwoe mma.
If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rageth or laugheth, there is no rest.
10 Mogyapɛfo kyi ɔnokwafo, na wɔhwehwɛ sɛ wobekum nea ɔteɛ.
The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
11 Ɔkwasea da abufuw nyinaa adi, nanso onyansafo hyɛ ne ho so.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
12 Sɛ ɔsodifo tie nkontomposɛm a, nʼadwumayɛfo nyinaa bɛyɛ amumɔyɛfo.
If a ruler hearkeneth to lies, all his servants are wicked.
13 Ohiani ne ɔsohyɛfo nyinaa wɔ saa ade baako yi: Awurade ma wɔn baanu nyinaa ani a wɔde hu ade.
The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD giveth light to both their eyes.
14 Sɛ ɔhene di ahiafo asɛm yiye a, nʼahengua betim hɔ daa.
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 Nteɛso abaa ma nyansa, na abofra a wɔde ne pɛ ma no no, gu ne na anim ase.
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
16 Sɛ amumɔyɛfo di yiye a, bɔne nso kɔ so, na atreneefo behu wɔn asehwe.
When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
17 Teɛ wo ba, na ɔbɛma wo asomdwoe; ɔbɛma wo kra ani agye.
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight to thy soul.
18 Sɛ anisoadehu nni hɔ a nnipa no yɛ basaa; na nhyira nka nea odi mmara so.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 Wɔmfa anom nsɛm kɛkɛ nteɛ ɔsomfo; ɔte ase de, nanso ɔremfa.
A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understandeth he will not answer.
20 Wuhu obi a ɔpɛ ntɛm kasa ana? Ɔkwasea wɔ anidaso sen no.
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 Sɛ obi kokɔ ne somfo fi ne mmofraase a, awiei no ɔde awerɛhow na ɛbɛba.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him at length become his son.
22 Onipa a ne bo afuw de mpaapaemu ba, na nea ne bo nkyɛ fuw no yɛ bɔne pii.
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
23 Onipa ahomaso brɛ no ase, nanso nea ɔwɔ ahobrɛase no nya anuonyam.
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
24 Nea ɔboa ɔkorɔmfo no haw ɔno ankasa ho. Wɔama waka ntam nti osuro sɛ obedi adanse.
Whoever is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and revealeth it not.
25 Onipa ho suro betumi ayɛ afiri, na nea ɔde ne ho to Awurade so no, wobegye no.
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but he who putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26 Bebree hwehwɛ sɛ wobenya ɔhene ne no akasa, nanso onipa nya atɛntrenee fi Awurade nkyɛn.
Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.
27 Atreneefo kyi atorofo; na amumɔyɛfo kyi wɔn a wɔn akwan teɛ.
An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
