< Mmebusɛm 16 >

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from YHWH.
2 Ɛyɛ onipa sɛ nʼakwan nyinaa yɛ kronkron, nanso Awurade na ɔpɛɛpɛɛ adwene mu.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but YHWH weighs the motives.
3 Fa nea woyɛ nyinaa hyɛ Awurade nsam, na wo nhyehyɛe besi yiye.
Entrust your works to YHWH, and your plans will be established.
4 Awurade yɛ biribiara ma nʼankasa botae, mpo, ɔhwɛ omumɔyɛfo so kosi amanehunu da.
YHWH has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Awurade kyi koma mu ahantanfo nyinaa. Nya saa ntease yi sɛ, wɔremfa wɔn ho nni.
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to YHWH: they shall certainly not be unpunished.
6 Wɔnam ɔdɔ ne nokware so pata bɔne; onipa nam Awurade suro so yi bɔne akwa.
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of YHWH men depart from evil.
7 Sɛ onipa akwan sɔ Awurade ani a, ɔma nʼatamfo mpo ne no tena asomdwoe mu.
When a man's ways please YHWH, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Kakraa bi a wɔnam trenee kwan so nya no ye sen mfaso pii a wɔnam ntɛnkyew so nya.
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.
A man's heart plans his course, but YHWH directs his steps.
10 Ɔhene anom kasa te sɛ nkɔmhyɛ, enti ɛnsɛ sɛ nʼano ka nea ɛnyɛ atɛntrenee.
Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.
11 Nsania ne abrammo a asisi nni mu fi Awurade; nkaribo a ɛwɔ kotoku mu no, ɔno na ɔyɛe.
Honest balances and scales are YHWH's; all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 Ahemfo kyi bɔneyɛ, efisɛ ahengua si trenee so.
It is an abomination to kings to do wickedness, for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Ahemfo ani sɔ ano a ɛka nokware; na wobu onipa a ɔka nokware.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.
14 Ɔhene abufuwhyew yɛ owu somafo, nanso onyansafo bedwudwo ano.
The king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
15 Sɛ ɔhene anim tew a, ɛyɛ nkwa, nʼadom te sɛ asusowbere mu omununkum.
In the light of the king's face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16 Eye sɛ wubenya nyansa sen sɛ wubenya sikakɔkɔɔ, sɛ wubenya nhumu sen sɛ wubenya dwetɛ!
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 Ɔtreneeni tempɔn kwati bɔne; nea ɔhwɛ nʼakwan yiye no bɔ ne nkwa ho ban.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Ahantan di ɔsɛe anim, na ahomaso honhom nso di asehwe anim.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Eye sɛ wobɛyɛ honhom mu hiani wɔ wɔn a wɔhyɛ wɔn so mu sen sɛ wo ne ahantanfo bɛkyɛ asade.
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
20 Nea ɔyɛ osetie ma nkyerɛkyerɛ no nya nkɔso; nhyira nka nea ɔde ne ho to Awurade so.
He who heeds the word finds prosperity, and blessed is he who trusts in YHWH.
The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
22 Ntease yɛ nkwa asuti ma wɔn a wɔwɔ bi, nanso agyimisɛm de asotwe brɛ nkwaseafo.
Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.
23 Onyansafo koma kyerɛ nʼano kwan, na nʼanofafa ma nkyerɛkyerɛ kɔ so.
The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
24 Abodwosɛm te sɛ ɛwokyɛm; ɛyɛ ɔkra dɛ, na ɛsa nnompe yare.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 Ɔkwan bi wɔ hɔ a ɛteɛ wɔ onipa ani so, nanso awiei no, ɛkɔ owu mu.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
26 Apaafo akɔnnɔ ma wɔyɛ adwumaden; efisɛ wɔpɛ sɛ wokum wɔn kɔm.
The appetite of the laboring man labors for him; for his mouth urges him on.
27 Ohuhuni bɔ pɔw bɔne, ne kasa te sɛ ogya a ɛhyew ade.
A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.
A perverse man stirs up strife, and a gossip separates close friends.
A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Nea obu nʼani no redwene bɔneyɛ ho; na nea omua nʼano no ani wɔ bɔne so.
One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is found in the path of righteousness.
32 Nea ɔwɔ abodwokyɛre no ye sen ɔkofo, na nea ɔmfa abufuw ye sen nea ɔko fa kuropɔn.
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
33 Wɔbɔ ntonto de hwehwɛ nea Awurade pɛ, nanso ne gyinaesi biara fi Awurade.
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from YHWH.
