< Mmebusɛm 15 >

1 Mmuae pa sianka abufuwhyew, nanso asɛm a ano yɛ den hwanyan abufuw mu.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 Onyansafo tɛkrɛma yi nimdeɛ ayɛ, nanso ɔkwasea ano woro agyimisɛm.
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools gush out folly.
3 Awurade ani hu baabiara, na ɛhwɛ amumɔyɛfo ne apapafo.
The LORD’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 Tɛkrɛma a ɛde abodwo ba yɛ nkwadua, nanso nnaadaa tɛkrɛma dwerɛw honhom.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
5 Ɔkwasea mfa nʼagya nteɛso nyɛ hwee, na nea otie nteɛso no kyerɛ sɛ ɔyɛ onitefo.
A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
6 Ahonya bebree wɔ ɔtreneeni fi, nanso amumɔyɛfo adenya de ɔhaw brɛ wɔn.
In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
7 Anyansafo ano trɛtrɛw nimdeɛ mu, nanso ɛnyɛ saa na nkwaseafo koma te.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
8 Awurade kyi amumɔyɛfo afɔrebɔ, nanso teefo mpaebɔ sɔ nʼani.
The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 Awurade kyi amumɔyɛfo akwan, nanso ɔdɔ wɔn a wotiw trenee.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
10 Asotwe dennen wɔ hɔ ma nea ɔman fi ɔkwan no so, nea ɔtan nteɛso no bewu.
There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way. Whoever hates reproof shall die.
11 Owu ne Ɔsɛe da Awurade anim, na nnipa koma mu de, onim ma ɛboro so. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD— how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Ɔfɛwdifo mpɛ nteɛso; onkobisa anyansafo hwee.
A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
13 Anigye koma ma anim yɛ sereserew, na koma a abotow dwerɛw honhom.
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
14 Nhumufo koma hwehwɛ nimdeɛ, nanso ɔkwasea ano ka agyimisɛm.
The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
15 Wɔn a wɔhyɛ wɔn so nna nyinaa yɛ mmɔbɔmmɔbɔ, nanso anigye koma wɔ daa ahosɛpɛw mu.
All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
16 Ketewa bi a yenya a Awurade suro ka ho no ye sen ahonyade bebree a ɔhaw bata ho.
Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
17 Nhabamma aduan a ɔdɔ wɔ mu no ye sen nantwi sradenam a ɔtan bata ho.
Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
18 Nea ne bo fuw ntɛm no de mpaapaemu ba, nanso nea ɔwɔ ntoboase pata ntɔkwaw.
A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
19 Nsɔe ama onihawfo kwan asiw, nanso teefo kwan yɛ ɔtempɔn.
The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
20 Ɔba nyansafo ma nʼagya ani gye, nanso ɔba kwasea bu ne na animtiaa.
A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 Agyimisɛm ma nea onni adwene ani gye, nanso nea ɔwɔ ntease no fa ɔkwan a ɛteɛ so.
Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
22 Nhyehyɛe a enni afotu no sɛe, nanso afotufo bebree ma ɛyɛ yiye.
Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 Onipa a ɔma mmuae a ɛfata no ani gye, asɛm a ɛba bere pa mu no nso ye.
Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
24 Onyansafo asetena mu kwan ma no nkɔso, esiw ne da mukɔ ho kwan. (Sheol h7585)
The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
25 Awurade sɛe ɔhantanni fi, na ɔma akunafo ahye yɛ pɛpɛɛpɛ.
The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.
26 Awurade kyi amumɔyɛfo nsusuwii, nanso nʼani sɔ wɔn a wɔyɛ kronkron no de.
The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
27 Odifudepɛfo de ɔhaw brɛ nʼabusua, nanso nea okyi kɛtɛasehyɛ no benya nkwa.
He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
28 Ɔtreneeni koma kari ne mmuae, nanso omumɔyɛfo ano woro bɔne.
The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
29 Awurade mmɛn amumɔyɛfo koraa, nanso ɔte ɔtreneeni mpaebɔ.
The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
30 Anim a ɛtew ma koma nya ahomeka, na asɛm pa ma nnompe ahoɔden.
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
31 Nea otie animka a ɛma nkwa no ne anyansafo bɛbɔ mu atena ase.
The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home amongst the wise.
32 Nea ɔmfa ahohyɛso no bu ne ho animtiaa, na nea otie nteɛso no nya nhumu.
He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
33 Awurade suro kyerɛ onipa nyansa, ahobrɛase di anuonyam anim.
The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honour is humility.
