< Mateo 2 >
1 Bere a Ɔhene Herode di ade no na wɔwoo Yesu wɔ Betlehem a ɛwɔ Yudea.
Now, when, Jesus, was born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, lo! wise men from eastern parts, came into Jerusalem:
2 Saa bere no ara mu na anyansafo bi fi apuei baa Yerusalem bebisae se, “Ɛhe na Yudafo hene a wɔawo no no wɔ? Yehuu ne nsoromma wɔ apuei nohɔ, nti na yɛaba sɛ yɛrebɛsom no.”
saying—Where is he that hath been born king of the Jews? for we saw his star in the east, and have come to bow down to him.
3 Ɔhene Herode tee saa asɛm yi no, ɛhaw ɔne Yerusalemfo nyinaa adwene yiye.
But, when King Herod heard, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;
4 Ɔhene Herode frɛɛ ɔman no mu asɔfo mpanyin ne Kyerɛwsɛm no akyerɛkyerɛfo behyiae. Obisaa wɔn se, “Ɛhefa na wɔbɛwo Kristo no?”
and, assembling all the high-priests and scribes of the people, he was enquiring of them—Where is, the Christ, to be born?
5 Wobuaa no se, “Betlehem a ɛwɔ Yudea. Na eyi ne nea odiyifo no kae:
And, they, said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea, —for, so, is it written through the prophet:
6 “‘Ao kurow Betlehem, wo a woyɛ otitiriw wɔ Yudaman mu, wo mu na meyi nea obedi me man Israel anim ahwɛ wɔn so.’”
And, thou, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means least, art thou, among the governors of Judah, —For, out of thee, shall one come forth to govern, Who shall shepherd my people Israel.
7 Ɔhene Herode frɛɛ anyansafo no kokoa mu bisaa wɔn bere pɔtee a wohuu nsoromma no. Ɔtoaa so ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se,
Then Herod, privately, calling the wise men, ascertained from them the time of the appearing star;
8 “Monkɔ Betlehem nkɔhwehwɛ abofra no. Sɛ muhu no a, mommɛka nkyerɛ me, na me nso menkɔsom no bi.”
and sending them to Bethlehem, said—Go search out accurately concerning the child, —and, as soon as ye find it, bring report unto me, that, I also, may come and bow myself down to it.
9 Anyansafo no tiee ɔhene no asɛm no wiei no, wɔkɔe. Wɔrekɔ no, nsoromma a wohuu wɔ apuei no san yii ne ho adi bio kyerɛɛ wɔn. Edii wɔn anim kosii faako a wɔawo abofra no wɔ Betlehem hɔ.
Now, they, hearing the king, went, and lo! the star which they had seen in the east, was going before them, until it went and stood over where the child was;
10 Bere a wohuu nsoromma no, wɔn ani gyee mmoroso.
and, seeing the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy;
11 Woduu ofi a abofra no ne ne na Maria wɔ mu no, wɔkotow sɔree no. Wɔde wɔn akyɛde a ɛyɛ sikakɔkɔɔ, aduhuam ne kurobow yɛɛ no ayɛ.
and, coming into the house, they saw the child, with Mary its mother, —and, falling down, prostrated themselves unto it, and, opening their treasures, offered unto it gifts—gold and frankincense and myrrh;
12 Onyankopɔn soo wɔn dae bɔɔ wɔn kɔkɔ se wɔnnsan nkɔ Herode nkyɛn bio wɔ Yerusalem. Enti wɔfaa ɔkwan foforo so kɔɔ wɔn kurom.
and, being instructed by dream, not to return unto Herod, by another way, retired they unto their own country.
13 Anyansafo no kɔ akyi no, Awurade bɔfo soo Yosef dae se, “Sɔre fa abofra no ne ne na na monkɔ Misraim nkɔtena hɔ nkosi sɛ mɛkyerɛ mo bere a mobɛsan aba. Efisɛ Ɔhene Herode rehwehwɛ abofra no akum no.”
Now, when they had retired, lo! a messenger of the Lord, appeareth by dream unto Joseph, saying, Arise, take unto thee the child and its mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there, until I tell thee, —for Herod is about to seek the child, to destroy it.
14 Anadwo no ara Yosef faa abofra no ne Maria sii mu kɔɔ Misraim,
And, he, arising, took unto him the child and its mother, by night, and retired into Egypt;
15 ma wɔtenaa hɔ kosii sɛ Ɔhene Herode wui. Eyi na ɛmaa nea Awurade nam odiyifo no so kae se, “Mafrɛ me Ba afi Misraim” no baa mu.
and was there, until the death of Herod, —that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt, called I my son.
16 Herode huu sɛ anyansafo no adaadaa no no, ne bo fuw mmoroso. Ɔsomaa nʼasraafo se wɔnkɔ Betlehem ne nkurow a atwa ho ahyia no nyinaa mu nkokunkum nkokoaa mmarimaa kosi wɔn a wɔadi mfe abien so, sɛnea anyansafo no bere a wɔkae sɛ wɔwoo abofra no wɔ mu no kyerɛ no.
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly enraged, —and sent and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its bounds, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had ascertained from the wise men.
17 Nea wɔnam odiyifo Yeremia so kae no baa mu se,
Then was fulfilled, that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
18 “Wɔte nne bi wɔ Rama. Ɛyɛ osu ne agyaadwo; Rahel resu ne mma; na ɔmpɛ sɛ wɔkyekye ne werɛ, efisɛ wɔnte ase bio.”
A voice, in Ramah, was heard, weeping and great mourning, —Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, —because they are not.
19 Herode wu akyi no, Awurade bɔfo yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ Yosef wɔ dae mu wɔ Misraim ka kyerɛɛ no se,
But, when Herod was, dead, lo! a messenger of the Lord, appeareth by dream unto Joseph in Egypt;
20 “Sɔre na fa abofra no ne ne na kɔ Israel asase so, efisɛ wɔn a wɔpɛe sɛ wokum abofra no awuwu.”
saying—Arise! and take unto thee the child and its mother, and be journeying into the land of Israel, —for they are dead, who were seeking the life of the child.
21 Yosef faa abofra no ne ne na san kɔɔ Israel asase so bio.
And, he, arising, took unto him the child and its mother, and entered into the land of Israel.

Hearing, however, that, Archelaus, was reigning over Judaea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid, thither, to go, —and so, being instructed by dream, he retired into the parts of Galilee;
23 Enti wɔkɔtenaa kurow Nasaret mu. Eyi nso maa nea adiyifo no kae se, “Wɔbɛfrɛ no Nasareni” no baa mu.
and came and fixed his dwelling in a city called Nazareth, —that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets—A Nazarene, shall he be called.
