Luka 8
1 Eyi akyi no, Yesu ne nʼasuafo dumien no kyinkyinii Galilea nkurow ne nkuraa bi ase kaa Onyankopɔn ahenni no ho asɛm a,
Shortly after this He visited town after town, and village after village, proclaiming His Message and telling the Good News of the Kingdom of God. The Twelve were with Him,
2 na nnipa a wodi nʼakyi no bi ne Maria Magdalene a otuu ahonhommɔne ason fii ne mu no
and certain women whom He had delivered from evil spirits and various diseases--Mary of Magdala, out of whom seven demons had come,
3 ne Yohana a ɔyɛ Kusa, Herode fi sohwɛfo panyin yere, ne Susana. Saa mmea yi ne afoforo bi na wofi wɔn ahonya mu hwɛɛ Yesu ne nʼasuafo.
and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many other women, all of whom contributed to the support of Jesus and His Apostles.
4 Da bi a nnipa bebree bi fi nkurow nkurow so baa ne nkyɛn no, ɔkyerɛkyerɛɛ wɔn abebu mu se,
And when a great crowd was assembling, and was receiving additions from one town after another, He spoke a parable to them.
5 “Da bi, okuafo bi kɔɔ nʼafum koguu aba. Ogui no, aba no bi koguu ɔkwan mu maa nnipa tiatiaa so na nnomaa nso bɛsosɔwee.
"The sower," He said, "goes out to sow his seed; and as he sows, some of the seed falls by the way-side, and is trodden upon, or the birds of the air come and peck it up.
6 Ebi nso koguu ɔbotan so, enti efifii no, ankyɛ na ne nyinaa hyewee, efisɛ annya nsu.
Another part drops upon the rock, and after growing up it withers away for want of moisture.
7 Aba no bi nso koguu nsɔe mu. Efifii no, nsɔe no kyekyeree no na ewui.
Another part falls among the thorns, and the thorns grow up with it and stifle it.
8 Ebi nso koguu asase pa mu, enyinii, sow aba mmɔho ɔha.” Na ɔkaa eyi no, ɔka kaa ho se, “Nea ɔwɔ aso a obetie no, ontie.”
But some of the seed falls into good ground, and grows up and yields a return of a hundred for one." While thus speaking, He cried aloud and said, "Listen, every one who has ears to listen with!"
9 Na nʼasuafo no bisaa no saa bɛ no ase no,
The disciples proceeded to ask Him what this parable meant.
10 obuaa wɔn se, “Mo de, wɔde Onyankopɔn Ahenni ho ahintasɛm ama mo, na afoforo de, wɔkasa kyerɛ wɔn mmebu mu, “‘sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a wɔbɛhwɛ, nanso wɔrenhu na wɔbɛte, nanso wɔrente ase.’
"To you," He replied, "it is granted to know the secrets of the Kingdom of God; but all others are taught by parables, in order that they may see and yet not see, and may hear and yet not understand.
11 “Afei bɛ no nkyerɛase ni. Aba no ne Onyankopɔn asɛm.
The meaning of the parable is as follows. The seed is God's Message.
12 Aba a eguu ɔkwan mu no gyina hɔ ma wɔn a wɔte Onyankopɔn asɛm no na ɔbonsam behwim fi wɔn koma mu, sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a, wɔrennye nni na wɔrennya nkwagye.
Those by the way-side are those who have heard, and then the Devil comes and carries away the Message from their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 Aba a eguu ɔbotan so no gyina hɔ ma wɔn a wɔte asɛm no na wɔde anigye so mu, nanso ɛntena wɔn mu. Na esiane wɔn gyidi a esua nti, ɛnkyɛ na asɛm no awu. Na sɛ sɔhwɛ ba wɔn so a, wɔpa abaw.
Those on the rock are the people who on hearing the Message receive it joyfully; but they have no root: for a time they believe, but when trial comes they fall away.
14 Aba a eguu nsɔe mu no gyina hɔ ma wɔn a wɔte Onyankopɔn asɛm, na wodi so, nanso asetena mu haw ne abɛbrɛsɛ, ahonya ne wiase afɛfɛde nti, asɛm no ntumi nyɛ wɔn mu adwuma sɛnea ɛsɛ.
That which fell among the thorns means those who have heard, but as they go on their way, the Message is stifled by the anxieties, wealth and gaieties of time, and they yield nothing in perfection.
15 Aba a eguu asase pa mu no gyina hɔ ma wɔn a wɔde koma pa tie asɛmpa no, na wodi so, gyina pintinn de abrabɔ pa di ho adanse.
But as for that in the good ground, it means those who, having listened to the Message with open minds and in a right spirit, hold it fast, and patiently yield a return.
16 “Obi nsɔ kanea na ɔmfa kɛntɛn mmutuw so, anaa ɔmfa nhyɛ mpa ase na mmom, ɔde si kaneadua so na ahyerɛn ama wɔn a wɔba mu no.
"When any one lights a lamp, he does not cover it with a vessel or hide it under a couch; he puts it on a lampstand, that people who enter the room may see the light.
17 Nea ahintaw no bɛda adi, na nea ɛwɔ kokoa mu no nso ada gua.
There is nothing hidden, which shall not be openly seen; nor anything secret, which shall not be known and come into the light of day.
18 Enti nea mutie no, muntie no yiye. Obiara a ɔwɔ no wɔbɛma no pii aka ho, na nea onni ahe bi no, nea osusuw sɛ ɛyɛ ne de no mpo, wobegye afi ne nsam.”
Be careful, therefore, how you hear; for whoever has anything, to him more shall be given, and whoever has nothing, even that which he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."
19 Da bi, Yesu na ne ne nuanom pɛɛ sɛ wɔne no kasa, nanso esiane nnipakuw a na wɔatwa ne ho ahyia no nti, wɔantumi ne no ankasa.
Then came to Him His mother and His brothers, but could not get near Him for the crowd.
20 Obi kɔka kyerɛɛ Yesu se ne na ne ne nuanom gyina nkyɛn hɔ baabi rehwehwɛ no.
But He was told, "Your mother and brothers are standing on the edge of the crowd, and want to see you."
21 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Me na ne me nuanom ne wɔn a wotie Onyankopɔn asɛm na wodi so.”
"My mother and my brothers," He replied, "are these who hear God's Message and obey it."
22 Da bi a Yesu ne nʼasuafo te ɔkorow mu no, ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Momma yentwa nkɔ asuogya nohɔ.” Wosii mu a wɔrekɔ no,
One day He went on board a boat--both He and his disciples; and He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side of the Lake." So they set sail.
23 Yesu dae. Saa bere no ara mu na ahum a ano yɛ den bi bɔ maa nsu bɛtaa ɔkorow no mu maa ɔkorow no yɛɛ sɛ ɛremem. Eyi maa asuafo no koma tuu yiye.
During the passage He fell asleep, and there came down a squall of wind on the Lake, so that the boat began to fill and they were in deadly peril.
24 Asuafo no de hu ne nteɛteɛmu nyan no se, “Awurade, Awurade, yɛremem!” Amono mu hɔ ara, Yesu sɔre teɛteɛɛ ahum a ano yɛ den ne asorɔkye no ma ɛyɛɛ dinn.
So they came and woke Him, crying, "Rabbi, Rabbi, we are drowning." Then He roused Himself and rebuked the wind and the surging of the water, and they ceased and there was a calm.
25 Afei obisaa wɔn se, “Adɛn na munni gyidi?” Wɔn nyinaa suroe, de ahodwiriw bisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho se. “Onipa bɛn ni a mframa a ano yɛ den ne asorɔkye mpo tie no yi?”
"Where is your faith?" He asked them. But they were filled with terror and amazement, and said to one another, "Who then is this? for He gives orders both to wind and waves, and they obey Him."
26 Yesu ne nʼasuafo no twaa po no beduu Gerasefo asase a ɛne Galilea di nhwɛanim no so.
Then they put in to shore in the country of the Gerasenes, which lies opposite to Galilee.
27 Yesu fii ɔkorow no mu sii fam pɛ na ɔbarima bi a ahonhommɔne ahyɛ no ma akyɛ a ɔda adagyaw na ɔnte fie, na mmom ɔte amusiei a aboda mu na ɔdeda no behyiaa no.
Here, on landing, He was met by one of the townsmen who was possessed by demons--for a long time he had not put on any garment, nor did he live in a house, but in the tombs.
28 Ohuu Yesu no, ɔteɛɛ mu, kotow nʼanan ase san teɛteɛɛ mu se, “Yesu, Ɔsorosoro Nyankopɔn Ba, dɛn na wo ne me wɔ yɛ? Mesrɛ wo, nyɛ me ayayade biara.”
When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, and said in a loud voice, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of God Most High? Do not torture me, I beseech you."
29 Ɔkaa saa asɛm yi, efisɛ na Yesu ateɛteɛ ahonhommɔne no sɛ womfi ne mu. Saa ahonhommɔne yi taa ka no na sɛ wɔde hama kyekyere ne nsa ne nʼanan mpo a, otumi tetew mu ma ahonhommɔne no pam no kɔ wuram.
For already He had been commanding the foul spirit to come out of the man. For many a time it had seized and held him, and they had repeatedly put him in chains and fetters and kept guard over him, but he used to break the chains to pieces, and, impelled by the demon, to escape into the Desert.
30 Yesu bisaa no se, “Wo din de dɛn?” Obuaa no se, “Dɔm.” Efisɛ na ahonhommɔne ahyɛ no ma.
"What is your name?" Jesus asked him. "Legion," he replied--because a great number of demons had entered into him;
and they besought Him not to command them to be gone into the Bottomless Pit. (Abyssos g12)
32 Saa bere no na mprako bi redidi wɔ bepɔw no nkyɛn mu baabi. Ahohommɔne no srɛɛ Yesu sɛ ɔmma wɔn ho kwan na wonkowura mprako no mu. Na ɔmaa wɔn ho kwan.
Now there was a great herd of swine there feeding on the hill-side; and the demons begged Him to give them leave to go into them, and He gave them leave.
33 Enti ahonhommɔne no fii ɔbarima no mu kowuraa mprako no mu ma wɔbɔɔ kirididi, sian bepɔw no koguu ɔtare no mu wuwui.
The demons came out of the man and left him, and entered into the swine; and the herd rushed violently over the cliff into the Lake and were drowned.
34 Wɔn a wɔhwɛ mprako no so no huu nea asi no, wɔde hu ne ahopopo tutuu mmirika kɔbɔɔ amanneɛ wɔ kurom maa asɛm no trɛw wɔ mpɔtam hɔ nyinaa.
The swineherds, seeing what had happened, fled and reported it both in town and country;
35 Nnipa a wɔtee asɛm no bɔɔ twi kɔhwɛɛ nea asi. Woduu nea Yesu wɔ no, wohuu ɔbarima no sɛ ne ho atɔ no a ofura ntama te Yesu nkyɛn. Nnipa no nyinaa ho dwiriw wɔn.
whereupon the people came out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and they found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were terrified.
36 Na wɔn a wohuu ɔkwan a Yesu faa so saa ɔbarima no ɔyare no bɔɔ wɔn a wɔbaa hɔ no amanneɛ.
And those who had seen it told them how the demoniac was cured.
37 Ehu hyɛɛ Gerasefo a na wɔahyia wɔ hɔ no nyinaa ma, ma wɔsrɛɛ Yesu sɛ omfi wɔn nkyɛn hɔ nkɔ. Eyi nti, Yesu kɔtenaa ɔkorow no mu san twa kɔɔ asuogya nohɔ.
Then the whole population of the Gerasenes and of the adjacent districts begged Him to depart from them; for their terror was great. So He went on board and returned.
38 Ansa na Yesu rebefi hɔ no, ɔbarima a otuu ahonhommɔne fii ne mu no srɛɛ no sɛ ɔne no bɛkɔ. Nanso Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no se,
But the man from whom the demons had gone out earnestly asked permission to go with Him; but He sent him away.
39 “Kɔ na kodi nea Onyankopɔn ayɛ ama wo no ho adanse kyerɛ wo manfo.” Ɔbarima no fii hɔ kodii anwonwade a Yesu ayɛ ama no no ho adanse kyerɛɛ kurom hɔfo nyinaa.
"Return home," He said, "and tell there all that God has done for you." So he went and published through the whole town all that Jesus had done for him.
40 Yesu duu asuogya hɔ no, nnipakuw no de anigye hyiaa no kwan, efisɛ na wɔatwɛn no abrɛ.
Now when Jesus was returning, the people gave Him a warm welcome; for they had all been looking out for Him.
41 Ɔbarima bi a wɔfrɛ no Yairo a na ɔyɛ Yudafo hyiadan mu panyin baa ne nkyɛn bebuu no nkotodwe, srɛɛ no sɛ, ɔne no nkɔ ne fi
Just then there came a man named Jair, a Warden of the Synagogue, who threw himself at the feet of Jesus, and entreated Him to come to his house;
42 na ne babea koro a wadi bɛyɛ mfe dumien reyɛ awu. Bere a Yesu rekɔ no na nnipakuw no kyere ne so.
for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. And as He went, the dense throng crowded on Him.
43 Ɔbea bi a mogya atu no mfirihyia dumien a obiara ntumi nsa no yare no,
And a woman who for twelve years had been afflicted with haemorrhage--and had spent on doctors all she had, but none of them had been able to cure her--
44 fii Yesu akyi soo nʼatade ano. Amono mu hɔ ara na mogya a etu no no twae.
came close behind Him and touched the tassel of His robe; and instantly her flow of blood stopped.
45 Yesu bisae se, “Hena na osoo mʼatade ano no no?” Obiara buae se ɛnyɛ ɔno. Eyi maa Petro kae se, “Awurade, na sɛ nnipa no akyere wo so.”
"Who is it touched me?" Jesus asked. And when all denied having done so, Peter and the rest said, "Rabbi, the crowds are hemming you in and pressing on you."
46 Yesu buaa no se, “Dabi, obi aso mʼatade mu efisɛ mete nka sɛ tumi bi afi me mu.”
"Some one has touched me," Jesus replied, "for I feel that power has gone out from me."
47 Ɔbea no huu sɛ ohintaw a ɛrenyɛ ye nti, ɔde hu ne ahopopo bebuu Yesu nkotodwe wɔ nnipa no nyinaa anim, kyerɛɛ no nea enti a osoo ne mu ne sɛnea ne ho atɔ no no.
Then the woman, perceiving that she had not escaped notice, came trembling, and throwing herself down at His feet she stated before all the people the reason why she had touched Him and how she was instantly cured.
48 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Ɔbabea, wo gyidi ama wo ho atɔ wo. Fa asomdwoe kɔ.”
"Daughter," said He, "your faith has cured you; go, and be at peace."
49 Yesu gu so rekasa no, obi fi Yairo fi bɛka kyerɛɛ Yairo se, “Wo babea no anya awu enti nhaw Kyerɛkyerɛfo no bio.”
While He was still speaking, some one came to the Warden of the Synagogue from his house and said, "Your daughter is dead; trouble the Rabbi no further."
50 Yesu tee asɛm no osee Yairo se, “Nsuro, gye di, na wo babea no benyan anya nkwa.”
Jesus heard the words and said to him, "Have no fear. Only believe, and she shall be restored to life."
51 Oduu fie hɔ no, wamma obiara anka ne ho ankɔ ɔdan a abofra no da mu no mu gye Petro, Yohane, Yakobo ne abofra no awofo nko ara.
So He came to the house, but allowed no one to go in with Him but Peter and John and James and the girl's father and mother.
52 Na nnipa a wɔwɔ hɔ no nyinaa resu di awerɛhow. Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Munnsu, onwui na wada.”
The people were all weeping aloud and beating their breasts for her; but He said, "Leave off wailing; for she is not dead, but asleep."
53 Wɔserew no dii ne ho fɛw, efisɛ na wɔn de, wonim pefee sɛ wawu.
And they jeered at Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 Yesu soo ne nsa ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Me ba, sɔre!”
He, however, took her by the hand and called aloud, "Child, awake!"
55 Amono mu hɔ ara, ɔsɔree na Yesu kae se wɔmma no biribi nni.
And her spirit returned, and instantly she stood up; and He directed them to give her some food.
56 Nʼawofo no ho dwiriw wɔn yiye nanso Yesu bɔɔ wɔn ano se, wɔnnka nea asi no nkyerɛ obiara.
Her parents were astounded; but He forbad them to mention the matter to any one.
