< Luka 3 >
1 Kaesare Tiberio dii ade ne mfe dunum so na Onyankopɔn asɛm baa Sakaria ba Yohane so wɔ sare so.
Now in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of Ituraea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 Saa bere no na Pilato yɛ amrado wɔ Yudea, na Herode di Galilea mansinhene; ne nua Filipo di Iturea ne Trakoniti mansin so, na Lisania di Abilene mansinhene, na Anas ne Kaiafa nso yɛ Yudafo asɔfo mpanyin.
in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, [the] word of God came upon John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.
3 Yohane kyinkyinii Asubɔnten Yordan ho nyinaa kyerɛkyerɛɛ nnipa se, wɔmma wɔmmɔ wɔn asu nsakra mfi wɔn bɔne ho, na wɔde wɔn bɔne akyɛ wɔn.
And he came into all the district round the Jordan, preaching [the] baptism of repentance for [the] remission of sins,
4 Sɛnea Odiyifo Yesaia kae se, “Nne bi teɛ mu wɔ sare so se, ‘Munsiesie kwan mma Awurade; momma nʼatempɔn nteɛ.
as it is written in [the] book of [the] words of Esaias the prophet: Voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of [the] Lord, make straight his paths.
5 Obon biara bɛyɛ ma. Bepɔw ne nkoko nyinaa bɛkɔ fam; asase a ɛyɛ abonkyiabonkyi no bɛyɛ tamaa, na mmeae a ɛyɛ akɔntɔnkye no ayɛ tataw.
Every gorge shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked [places] shall become a straight [path], and the rough places smooth ways,
6 Na nnipa nyinaa behu Onyankopɔn nkwagye.’”
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Yohane ka kyerɛɛ nkurɔfo a wɔbaa hɔ se ɔmmɔ wɔn asu no se, “Awɔ mma! Hena na ɔbɔɔ mo kɔkɔ sɛ munguan mfi abufuwhyew a ɛreba no ho?
He said therefore to the crowds which went out to be baptised by him, Offspring of vipers, who has forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 Monkɔbɔ ɔbra pa mfa nkyerɛ sɛ moasakra ampa. Na monnhoahoa mo ho sɛ moyɛ Abraham asefo, efisɛ Onyankopɔn betumi ama saa abo yi adan nnipa ma wɔabɛyɛ Abraham asefo.
Produce therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say in yourselves, We have Abraham for [our] father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
9 Onyankopɔn de nʼabonnua ato dua biara a ɛnsow aba pa ntin ho sɛ ɔde betwa na ɔde agu gya mu ahyew no.”
And already also the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into [the] fire.
10 Nnipakuw no bisaa no se, “Na ɛno de, dɛn na yɛnyɛ?”
And the crowds asked him saying, What should we do then?
11 Yohane buaa wɔn se, “Sɛ wowɔ ntama abien a, ma nea onni bi no baako. Saa ara nso na sɛ wowɔ aduan a, ma nea onni bi no bi.”
And he answering says to them, He that has two body-coats, let him give to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.
12 Towgyefo a wɔbaa hɔ sɛ wɔmmɔ wɔn asu no nso bisae se, “Kyerɛkyerɛfo, yɛnyɛ dɛn?”
And tax-gatherers came also to be baptised, and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do?
13 Obuaa wɔn se, “Munnnye mmmoro nea wɔatwa ato hɔ sɛ munnye no.”
And he said to them, Take no more [money] than what is appointed to you.
14 Asraafo bi nso bisae se, “Yɛn nso yɛnyɛ dɛn?” Yohane buaa wɔn se, “Mommmɔ apoo, monntoto obiara ano, momma mo akatua nsɔ mo ani!”
And persons engaged in military service also asked him saying, And we, what should we do? And he said to them, Oppress no one, nor accuse falsely, and be satisfied with your pay.
15 Esiane sɛ saa bere no na nnipa no nyinaa rehwɛ Agyenkwa no kwan nti, na wosusuw sɛ Yohane ne Agyenkwa no.
But as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John whether he might be the Christ,
16 Eyi maa Yohane ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Me de, mede nsu na ɛrebɔ mo asu. Nanso obi di mʼakyi a ɔreba a, ɔwɔ tumi sen me na ne mpaboa mpo, mensɛ sɛ mikura. Ɔno de, sɛ ɔba a ɔde Honhom Kronkron ne ogya na ɛbɛbɔ mo asu.
John answered all, saying, I indeed baptise you with water, but the mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to unloose; he shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire;
17 Ɔno na sɛ ɔba a, obehuhuw aburow no so ayiyi mu aba pa no afi ntɛtɛ no mu, na ɔde aba pa no akosie na ɔde ogya a ennum da ahyew ntɛtɛ no.”
whose winnowing-fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing-floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 Ɔnam afotu ahorow so kaa asɛmpa no kyerɛɛ wɔn.
Exhorting then many other things also he announced [his] glad tidings to the people.
19 Yohane kaa Herode anim wɔ ne nua yere Herodia a ɔwaree no ne bɔne ahorow a na ɔyɛ no ho.
But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him as to Herodias, the wife of his brother, and as to all the wicked things which Herod had done,
20 Eyi maa Herode de Yohane too afiase.
added this also to all [the rest], that he shut up John in prison.
21 Bere a Yohane bɔɔ nkurɔfo pii asu wiee no, ɔbɔɔ Yesu nso asu. Ɔbɔɔ no asu wiee a ɔrebɔ mpae no, ɔsoro buei.
And it came to pass, all the people having been baptised, and Jesus having been baptised and praying, that the heaven was opened,
22 Honhom Kronkron sian te sɛ aborɔnoma baa Yesu so na nne bi fi ɔsoro kae se, “Wone me Dɔba a wosɔ mʼani.”
and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove upon him; and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.
