< Atemmufo 1 >
1 Yosua wu akyi no, Israelfo bisaa Awurade se, “Abusuakuw bɛn na ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkɔtow hyɛ Kanaanfo no so kan?”
Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
2 Awurade buae se, “Yuda na ɛsɛ sɛ ɔkɔ; mede asase no sodi ahyɛ wɔn nsam.”
And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
3 Enti Yuda ntuanofo no ka kyerɛɛ wɔn nuanom Simeon abusuakuw no se, “Mommɛka yɛn ho na yɛnko ntia Kanaanfo a wɔte asase a wɔde ama yɛn no so. Yɛn nso, yɛbɛboa mo ama moako afa mo asase.” Enti Simeonfo mmarima no ne Yudafo no kɔe.
And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
4 Bere a Yuda kɔɔ wɔn so no, Awurade ma wodii Kanaanfo ne Perisifo no so nkonim, na wokunkum atamfo akofo mpem du wɔ Besek.
And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Besek hɔ, wɔne ɔhene Adoni-Besek hyiae, na wɔko tiaa no, dii Kanaanfo no ne Perisifo no so nkonim.
And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
6 Adoni-Besek guanee, nanso ankyɛ na Israelfo kɔkyeree no twitwaa ne nsa ne ne nan kokurobeti.
But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
7 Ɛmaa Adoni-Besek kae se, “Bere bi, na mewɔ Ahemfo aduɔson a wɔatwitwa wɔn kokurobeti na wɔbɛtasee mporoporowa wɔ me didipon ase. Afei, Awurade atua me nea meyɛɛ wɔn no so ka.” Wɔde no kɔɔ Yerusalem na owui wɔ hɔ.
And Adonibezek said, seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I have done, so God hath repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
8 Yuda mmarima no tow hyɛɛ Yerusalem so, dii so nkonim. Wokunkum kuropɔn no so nnipa nyinaa, too mu gya.
Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
9 Ɛno akyi, wɔdan faa anafo fam, kɔtow hyɛɛ Kanaanfo a wɔtete bepɔw asase, Negeb ne atɔe fam nkoko so no so.
And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt on the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
10 Yuda bɔ wuraa Kanaanfo a na wɔte Hebron a kan no na wɔfrɛ hɔ Kiriat-Arba no mu, dii Sesai, Ahima ne Talmai so.
And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba: ) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
11 Wofi hɔ kɔtoaa nnipa a wɔte Debir a kan no na wɔfrɛ hɔ (Kiriat-Sefer no).
And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:
12 Na Kaleb kae se, “Mede me babea Aksa bɛma obi a ɔbɛtow ahyɛ Kiriat-Sefer kurow no so na wadi so no aware.”
And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter for a wife.
13 Ɛnna Kaleb nua kumaa Kenas babarima Otniel kɔfae. Enti Aksa bɛyɛɛ Otniel yere.
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.
14 Aksa waree Otniel no, ɔka kyerɛɛ no se ommisa nʼagya Kaleb na ɔmma wɔn asase nka nea wɔwɔ no ho. Ofi nʼafurum so sii fam ara pɛ, Kaleb bisaa no se, “Asɛm bɛn? Dɛn na menyɛ mma wo?”
And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she got off her donkey; and Caleb said to her, What wilt thou?
15 Obuae se, “Ma me nhyira bio. Woadom me ama me asase wɔ Negeb, na mesrɛ wo ma me asase a nsu wɔ so.” Enti Kaleb maa no atifi ne anafo nsubɔnten.
And she said to him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
16 Bere a Yuda abusuakuw fii Yeriko no, Kenifo a wɔyɛ Mose ase barima asefo ne wɔn kɔɔ Yuda sare no so. Wɔtenaa nnipa a wɔwɔ hɔ no mu wɔ beae bi a ɛbɛn Arad a ɛwɔ Negeb.
And the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
17 Afei, Yuda ne Simeon ka bɔɔ mu ko tiaa Kanaanfo a wɔte Sefat no sɛee kurow no pasaa. Enti wɔtoo kurow no din Horma.
And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
18 Ɛno akyi, Yuda ko faa nkuropɔn Gasa, Askelon ne Ekron ne wɔn nsase a atwa wɔn ho ahyia.
Also Judah took Gaza with its land, and Askelon with its land, and Ekron with its land.
19 Na Awurade ka Yuda nkurɔfo ho nti, ɛmaa wɔfaa bepɔw nsase no. Nanso wɔantumi ampam nnipa a wɔte tataw so no amfi hɔ, efisɛ na wɔwɔ nnade nteaseɛnam.
And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
20 Wɔde Hebron kuropɔn maa Kaleb sɛnea na Mose ahyɛ ho bɔ no. Na Kaleb pam nnipa a na wɔyɛ Anak mmabarima baasa no asefo no fii hɔ.
And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses said: and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.
21 Benyamin abusuakuw no antumi ampam Yebusifo a na wɔte Yerusalem no. Enti ebesi nnɛ yi, Yebusifo ne Benyamin nkurɔfo da so te Yerusalem.
And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
22 Yosef asefo kɔtow hyɛɛ Bet-El kurow no so, na Awurade kaa wɔn ho.
And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.
23 Wɔsomaa akwansrafo kɔɔ Bet-El (a kan no na wɔfrɛ no Lus) hɔ.
And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)
24 Wɔde nsɛmmisa puapuaa ɔbarima bi a na ofi kuropɔn no mu reba. Wɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kyerɛ yɛn ɔkwan a wɔde kɔ kuropɔn no mu na yɛn nso, yebehu wo mmɔbɔ.”
And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.
25 Enti ɔkyerɛɛ wɔn kuropɔn no kwan ma wokokunkum kuropɔn no mu nnipa nyinaa, na wogyaw ɔbarima no ne nʼabusuafo.
And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.
26 Akyiri no, ɔbarima no tutu kɔɔ Hetifo asase so. Ɔkyekyeree kuropɔn wɔ hɔ. Ɔtoo kuropɔn no din Lus. Na saa din no da kuropɔn no so de besi nnɛ.
And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name of it Luz: which is its name to this day.
27 Manase abusuakuw no nso antumi ampam nnipa a na wɔte Bet-Sean, Taanak, Dor, Yibleam, Megido ne wɔn nkuraase no, efisɛ na Kanaanfo no aka se, sɛnea ɛte biara, ɛhɔ ara na wɔpɛ sɛ wɔtena.
Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
28 Israelfo no nyaa ahoɔden kakra no, wɔhyɛɛ Kanaanfo no ma wɔyɛɛ nnwuma sɛ nkoa maa wɔn na wɔampam wɔn amfi asase no so.
And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour, and did not utterly drive them out.
29 Efraim abusuakuw no nso antumi antu Kanaanfo a na wɔte Geser no enti Kanaanfo no kɔɔ so ne wɔn tenae.
Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 Sebulon abusuakuw no antumi antu Kanaanfo a na wɔte Kitron ne Nahalol, nti wɔkɔɔ so ne wɔn tenae. Nanso wɔhyɛɛ wɔn ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa.
Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became forced labourers.
31 Aser abusuakuw no nso antumi antu wɔn a na wɔte Ako, Sidon, Ahlab, Aksib, Helba, Afik ne Rehob.
Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:
32 Nokware, esiane sɛ wɔantumi antu wɔn no nti, Kanaanfo no dɔɔso wɔ asase a Aserfo no te so no so.
But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.
33 Naftali abusuakuw no nso antumi antu wɔn a na wɔte Bet-Semes ne Bet-Anat. Mmom, Kanaanfo no dɔɔso wɔ asase a wɔte so no so. Nanso wɔhyɛɛ nnipa a wɔte Bet-Semes ne Bet-Anat ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa maa Naftali nkurɔfo.
Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became forced labourers to them.
34 Dan abusuakuw no de, Amorifo hyɛɛ wɔn ma wotu kɔɔ bepɔw nsase no so na wɔamma wɔn amma tataw so hɔ.
And the Amorites forced the children of Dan to the mountain: for they would not allow them to come down to the valley:
35 Amorifo no sii wɔn adwene pi sɛ, wɔbɛtena Heres bepɔw so wɔ Ayalon ne Saalbim, nanso Yosef asefo no yɛɛ den mmoroso no, wɔhyɛɛ Amorifo no ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa.
But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became forced labourers.
36 Na Amorifo hye fi Akrabbim atrapoe kɔ Sela na ɛtoa so kɔ atifi fam.
And the border of the Amorites was from the ascent to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
