< Atemmufo 7 >
1 Anɔpahema, Yerub-Baal (a ɔne Gideon) ne nʼakofo kɔɔ ara kosii Harod asu ho. Midian asraafo nso bɔɔ tukuw wɔ atifi fam wɔ obon bi a ɛbɛn More bepɔw no.
Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early and encamped beside the spring of Harod. Midian’s camp was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2 Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon se, “Akofo a wɔka wo ho no dɔɔso dodo. Sɛ mema mo nyinaa ko tia Midianfo a, Israelfo no bɛhoahoa wɔn ho akyerɛ me sɛ wɔn ara nam wɔn ahoɔden so na wogyee wɔn ho sii hɔ.
The LORD said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel brag against me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’
3 Ɛno nti, ka kyerɛ nnipa no se, ‘Obiara a ɔyɛ bɔtee anaa osuro no, onyi ne ho mfi mu na ɔnkɔ fie.’” Wɔn mu mpem aduonu abien na wɔkɔɔ fie, na ɛkaa wɔn mu mpem du a wɔpɛe sɛ wɔbɛko.
Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.
4 Nanso Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon se, “Wɔdɔɔso ara. Fa wɔn bra asu no ho na mɛsa wɔn mu ayi wɔn a wo ne wɔn bɛkɔ ne wɔn a wɔne wo renkɔ.”
The LORD said to Gideon, “There are still too many people. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. It shall be, that those whom I tell you, ‘This shall go with you,’ shall go with you; and whoever I tell you, ‘This shall not go with you,’ shall not go.”
5 Bere a Gideon de nʼakofo no kɔɔ asu no ho no, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kyɛ nnipa no mu akuw abien. Fa nnipa a wɔbɔ nsu gu wɔn nsam na wɔde wɔn tɛkrɛma taforo no sɛ akraman no kɔ kuw baako mu. Kuw a ɛto so abien no nso, fa wɔn a wobu nkotodwe de wɔn ano nom nsu wɔ asuwa mu no hyɛ mu.”
So he brought down the people to the water; and the LORD said to Gideon, “Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue, like a dog laps, you shall set him by himself; likewise everyone who bows down on his knees to drink.”
6 Mmarima no mu ahaasa pɛ na na wɔnom nsu fi wɔn nsa mu. Wɔn a aka no nyinaa nso, na wobu nkotodwe de wɔn ano nom nsu fi asuwa no mu.
The number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down on their knees to drink water.
7 Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon se, “Menam saa mmarima ahaasa yi so begye mo, na mama moadi Midianfo no so nkonim. Ma wɔn a aka no nyinaa nkɔ fie.”
The LORD said to Gideon, “I will save you by the three hundred men who lapped, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, each to his own place.”
8 Enti Gideon gyigyee wɔn akwansoduan ne ntorobɛnto fii akofo no nkyɛn ma wɔkɔɔ fie. Ɛnna ɔmaa mmarima ahaasa no kaa ne nkyɛn. Na Midianfo no atenae wɔ obon a ɛwɔ Gideon ase pɛɛ.
So the people took food in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the rest of the men of Israel to their own tents, but retained the three hundred men; and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
9 Anadwo no, Awurade kae se, “Sɔre! Kɔ Midianfo no atenae no mu wɔ ase hɔ, na mɛma mo adi wɔn so nkonim!
That same night, the LORD said to him, “Arise, go down into the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.
10 Na sɛ wusuro sɛ wobɛkɔ akɔtow ahyɛ wɔn so a, wo ne wo somfo Pura nkɔ hɔ.
But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp.
11 Tie nea Midianfo no reka na ɛbɛhyɛ wo nkuran. Na wo ho bɛpere wo ama woatow ahyɛ wɔn so.” Enti Gideon faa Pura kaa ne ho ne no kɔɔ atamfo no atenae no mfikyiri.
You will hear what they say; and afterward your hands will be strengthened to go down into the camp.” Then went he down with Purah his servant to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the camp.
12 Saa bere no na Midianfo, Amalekfo ne nnipa no nkae a wofifi apuei fam no abɛfɔre so te sɛ mmoadabi wɔ obon no mu. Na wɔn yoma nso dodow te sɛ mpoano nwea. Wɔdɔɔso dodo!
The Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.
When Gideon had come, behold, there was a man telling a dream to his fellow. He said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream; and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, came to the tent, and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.”
14 Nʼadamfo no kae se, “Wo dae no kyerɛ ade baako pɛ. Onyankopɔn de Midian ne ne dɔm nyinaa so nkonimdi ahyɛ Yoas babarima Gideon, Israelni no nsa.”
His fellow answered, “This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has delivered Midian into his hand, with all the army.”
15 Bere a Gideon tee dae no ne ne nkyerɛase no, ɔkotow sɔree Onyankopɔn. Ɔsan baa Israel atenae mu teɛɛ mu se, “Monsɔre! Awurade de Midianfo ahyɛ mo nsa.”
It was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. Then he returned into the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the LORD has delivered the army of Midian into your hand!”
16 Ɔkyɛɛ mmarima ahaasa no mu akuwakuw abiɛsa. Ɔde ntorobɛnto ne dɔte kuruwa a ogyatɛn hyehyɛ mu maa wɔn.
He divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put into the hands of all of them trumpets and empty pitchers, with torches within the pitchers.
17 Afei, ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Monhwɛ me. Munni mʼakyi. Sɛ midu atenae no mfikyiri a, nea mɛyɛ biara no, monyɛ bi.
He said to them, “Watch me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so you shall do.
18 Sɛ me ne wɔn a wɔka me ho nyinaa hyɛn ntorobɛnto no a, mo a moatwa atenae no ho ahyia no nyinaa, mo nso monhyɛn mo de na monteɛ mu se, ‘Yɛko ma Onyankopɔn ne Gideon.’”
When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and shout, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon!’”
19 Anadwo dasum a wɔasesa awɛmfo no awie pɛ, na Gideon ne mmarima ɔha a wɔka ne ho no koduu Midianfo atenae mfikyiri. Mpofirim wɔhyɛn wɔn ntorobɛnto no, bobɔɔ dɔte nkuruwa a na ɛhyehyɛ wɔn nsam no.
So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch. Then they blew the trumpets and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.
20 Afei akuw abiɛsa no nyinaa hyɛn wɔn ntorobɛnto bobɔɔ wɔn nkuruwa. Na wokurakura ogyatɛn a ɛredɛw no wɔ wɔn nsa benkum mu na wokurakura ntorobɛnto wɔ wɔn nsa nifa mu, wɔteɛɛ mu se, “Awurade afoa yɛ Gideon afoa!”
The three companies blew the trumpets, broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands with which to blow; and they shouted, “The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!”
21 Ɔbarima biara gyinaa nʼafa wɔ atenae no ho, hwɛɛ Midianfo no sɛ wɔabɔ huboa reteɛteɛ mu na wɔreguan.
They each stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran; and they shouted, and put them to flight.
22 Bere a Israelfo ahaasa no hyɛn wɔn ntorobɛnto no, Awurade maa wɔn atamfo akofo a wɔwɔ atenae hɔ no twaa wɔn ho de afoa ne wɔn ho wɔn ho koe. Wɔn a wɔanwu no guan koduu Bet-Sita a ɛbɛn Serera ne Abel-Mehola hye a ɛbɛn Tabat so.
They blew the three hundred trumpets, and the LORD set every man’s sword against his fellow and against all the army; and the army fled as far as Beth Shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.
23 Afei, Gideon soma kɔfaa Naftali, Aser ne Manase akofo a wɔbɛboa ma wɔtaa Midian nsraadɔm a wɔreguan no.
The men of Israel were gathered together out of Naphtali, out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued Midian.
24 Gideon tuu abɔfo kɔɔ Efraim mmepɔw aman no so kɔkae se, “Mommra mmɛtow nhyɛ Midianfo so. Munhyia wɔn wɔ Yordan aworoe so a ɛwɔ Bet-Bera hɔ no.” Na Efraim mmarima no yɛɛ sɛnea wɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn no.
Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against Midian and take the waters before them as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan!” So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together and took the waters as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan.
25 Wɔkyeree Oreb ne Seeb a na wɔyɛ Midian asahene. Wokum Oreb wɔ Oreb botan so, na wokum Seeb nso wɔ Seeb nsakyiamoa ho. Na wɔkɔɔ so taa Midianfo no. Akyiri no, Israelfo no de Oreb ne Seeb ti no brɛɛ Gideon a na saa bere no ɔwɔ Yordan ho no.
They took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at Oreb’s rock, and Zeeb they killed at Zeeb’s wine press, as they pursued Midian. Then they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.
