1 Na Awurade bɔfo fi Gilgal kɔɔ Bokim de nkra kɔmaa Israelfo no se, “Miyii mo fii Misraim, de mo baa asase a mekaa ho ntam sɛ mede bɛma mo agyanom no so. Mekae se, Meremmu mʼapam a me ne mo ayɛ no so.
And an Angel of the Lord came vp from Gilgal to Bochim, and sayd, I made you to go vp out of Egypt, and haue brought you vnto the land which I had sworne vnto your fathers, and sayd, I wil neuer breake my couenant with you.
2 Mo fam de ne sɛ, mo ne nnipa a wɔte asase yi so no nnyɛ apam biara na mmom mobɛsɛe wɔn afɔremuka nyinaa. Na adɛn nti na moanni me mmara nsɛm so?
Ye also shall make no couenant with the inhabitants of this land, but shall breake downe their altars: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce. Why haue ye done this?
3 Nea moayɛ yi nti, merempam nnipa a wɔtete mo asase so no. Wɔbɛyɛ mo nkyɛn mu nsɔe na wɔn anyame nso ayɛ mfiri a wɔasum ahintaw mo.”
Wherefore, I sayd also, I wil not cast them out before you, but they shalbe as thornes vnto your sides, and their gods shalbe your destruction.
4 Awurade bɔfo kasa wiee no Israelfo no suu dennen.
And when the Angel of the Lord spake these wordes vnto all the children of Israel, the people lift vp their voyce, and wept.
5 Enti wɔtoo beae hɔ din “Agyaadwotwa.” Na wɔbɔɔ afɔre wɔ hɔ maa Awurade.
Therefore they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifices there vnto the Lord.
6 Yosua gyaa nkurɔfo no kwan akyi no, mmusuakuw no mu biara kɔfaa nʼagyapade a wɔde maa no sɛ ne kyɛfa no.
Now when Ioshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went euery man into his inheritance, to possesse the land.
7 Na Israelfo no som Awurade wɔ Yosua ne mpanyimfo a wɔanyinyin sen Yosua a wohuu nneɛma akɛse a Awurade yɛ maa Israel, Yosua nkwa nna nyinaa mu no.
And the people had serued the Lord al the dayes of Ioshua, and all the dayes of the Elders that outliued Ioshua, which had seene all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
8 Afei, Nun babarima Yosua, Awurade somfo wui a na wadi mfirihyia ɔha ne du.
But Ioshua the sonne of Nun the seruant of the Lord dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yeeres olde:
9 Wosiee no wɔ ne wugyaw asase a na ɛwɔ Timnat-Heres, Efraim bepɔw asase no a ɛwɔ Gaas bepɔw no atifi fam no.
And they buryed him in the coastes of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.
10 Saa awo ntoatoaso no akyi no, awo ntoatoaso foforo nyin a na wonnim Awurade, na wɔnkae nneɛma akɛse a wayɛ ama Israel no.
And so all that generation was gathered vnto their fathers, and another generation arose after them, which neither knewe the Lord, nor yet the works, which he had done for Israel.
11 Na Israelfo no yɛɛ nea enye wɔ Awurade ani so, na wɔsom Baalim ahoni.
Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim,
12 Wogyaw Awurade, wɔn agyanom Nyankopɔn a oyii wɔn fii Misraim no. Wodii anyame foforo akyi, som saa anyame no a ɛyɛ nnipa a wɔatwa wɔn ho ahyia no dea. Na wɔmaa Awurade bo fuwii.
And forsooke ye Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and followed other gods, euen the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed vnto them, and prouoked the Lord to anger.
13 Wogyaw Awurade akyidi, kɔsom Baalim ne Astoret ahoni.
So they forsooke the Lord, and serued Baal, and Ashtaroth.
14 Eyi maa Awurade bo fuw Israel, enti ɔde wɔn hyɛɛ afowfo nsa, maa wowiaa wɔn ahode. Ɔtɔn wɔn maa wɔn atamfo a wɔatwa wɔn ho ahyia, na wɔantumi annyina wɔn ano.
And the wrath of the Lord was hote against Israel, and he deliuered them into the hands of spoylers, that spoyled them, and he sold them into the handes of their enemies rounde about them, so that they could no longer stande before their enemies.
15 Bere biara a Israelfo bɛkɔ ɔko no, Awurade ko tia wɔn ma wodi nkogu, sɛnea ɔhyɛɛ bɔ no. Enti wɔn ho hiahiaa wɔn papaapa.
Whithersoeuer they went out, the hand of the Lord was sore against them, as ye Lord had sayd, and as the Lord had sworne vnto them: so he punished them sore.
16 Afei, Awurade pagyaw atemmufo ma wobegyee Israelfo fii wɔn atamfo nsam.
Notwithstanding, the Lord raysed vp Iudges, which deliuered them out of the hands of their oppressours.
17 Nanso Israelfo no antie atemmufo no. Wɔkɔɔ so de wɔn ho bɔɔ anyame foforo, kotow wɔn. Wɔtwee wɔn ho ntɛm so fii wɔn agyanom a wɔyɛɛ osetie maa Awurade mmara nsɛm no kwan so.
But yet they would not obey their Iudges: for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandements of the Lord: they did not so.
18 Bere biara a Awurade de otemmufo bi bedua Israel so no, na ɔka saa otemmufo no ho na ogye nnipa no fi wɔn atamfo no nsam wɔ saa otemmufo no nkwa nna nyinaa mu. Efisɛ Awurade huu ne nkurɔfo a wɔredi wɔn nya na wɔrehu amane no mmɔbɔ.
And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)
19 Nanso atemmufo no wu akyi no, nnipa no san kɔɔ wɔn bra bɔne no mu a, afei na wɔasɛesɛe sen wɔn a wodii wɔn anim kan no. Wodii anyame foforo akyi. Wɔkotow wɔn, som wɔn. Na wɔampɛ sɛ wogyae wɔn nnebɔnesɛm ne asobrakye no.
Yet when the Iudge was dead, they returned, and did worse then their fathers, in following other gods to serue them and worshippe them: they ceased not from their owne inuentions, nor from their rebellious way.
20 Enti Awurade bo fuw Israel. Ɔkae se, “Esiane sɛ saa nnipa yi abu apam a me ne wɔn agyanom yɛe so, na wɔapo me mmara nsɛm nti,
Wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sayd, Because this people hath transgressed my couenant, which I commaded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voyce,
21 merempam aman a Yosua anni wɔn so ansa na ɔrewu no.
Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the nations, which Ioshua left when he dyed,
22 Meyɛɛ eyi de sɔɔ Israel hwɛe sɛ wobetie Awurade sɛnea wɔn agyanom yɛe no.”
That through them I may proue Israel, whether they wil keepe the way of the Lord, to walke therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
23 Ɛno nti na amma Awurade ampam aman no ntɛm so na wamma Yosua ammedi wɔn nyinaa so no.
So the Lord left those nations, and droue them not out immediatly, neither deliuered them into the hand of Ioshua.
