< Yosua 4 >
1 Bere a ɔman no nyinaa twaa Yordan wiei no, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Yosua se,
And it came to pass when the whole nation had completely gone over the Jordan, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 “Yiyi mmarima dumien fi ɔmanfo no mu a ɔbaako biara fi abusuakuw no bi mu,
Take you twelve men out of the people, one man out of every tribe,
3 na ka kyerɛ wɔn se, wɔmfa abo dumien mfi Yordan mfimfini nifa so wɔ faako a na asɔfo no gyina hɔ, na wɔnsoa mfa ntwa mmra mmegu faako a mobɛtena anadwo yi.”
and command them, saying, Take up hence out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Ɛnna Yosua frɛɛ mmarima dumien a oyii wɔn fii Israelfo no mu no a ɔbaako biara fi abusuakuw bi mu no,
And Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had appointed of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe;
and Joshua said to them, Pass before the ark of Jehovah your God into the midst of the Jordan, and lift up each of you a stone [and put it] upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel,
6 na ɛnyɛ nsɛnkyerɛnne wɔ mo mu. Sɛ daakye bi, mo mma bisa mo se, ‘Saa abo yi ase kyerɛ dɛn’ a,
that this may be a sign in your midst. When your children ask hereafter, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 monka nkyerɛ wɔn se, Yordan gyaee sen, gyinae wɔ Awurade apam adaka no anim, bere a Awurade apam adaka no retwa Yordan asubɔnten no. Saa abo yi bɛyɛ nkae ade ama Israelfo daa nyinaa.”
then ye shall say to them, That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; when it went through the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8 Enti, mmarima no yɛɛ sɛnea Yosua kyerɛɛ wɔn no. Wɔfaa abo dumien fii Asubɔnten Yordan mfimfini a ɔbo baako biara gyina hɔ ma abusuakuw baako, sɛnea Awurade hyɛɛ Yosua no. Wɔsoa de kɔɔ faako a wɔtenaa hɔ anadwo no na wosii nkaedum wɔ hɔ.
And the children of Israel did so, as Joshua had commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah had spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the lodging-place, and laid them down there.
9 Yosua nso de abo dumien sii nkaedum wɔ Yordan mfimfini wɔ faako a na asɔfo a wɔso apam Adaka no gyinae no. Ɛwɔ hɔ de besi nnɛ.
And twelve stones did Joshua set up in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood firm; and they are there to this day.
10 Asɔfo a na wɔso adaka no gyinaa asu no mfimfini hɔ ara kosii sɛ wɔyɛɛ Awurade ahyɛde a ɔnam Mose so de maa Yosua no nyinaa. Saa bere no, nnipa no yɛɛ ntɛm twaa asu no koduu ne konkɔn so.
And the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Jehovah had commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. And the people hasted and passed over.
11 Na bere a obiara duu asu no fa hɔ no, asɔfo no nso de Awurade adaka no twa kɔɔ hɔ bi.
And it came to pass, when all the people had completely gone over, that the ark of Jehovah went over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12 Na akofo a wɔahyɛ wɔn akode a wofi Ruben abusuakuw mu, Gad abusuakuw mu ne Manase abusuakuw fa mu akofo no dii Israelfo no anim twaa Yordan sɛnea Mose kyerɛɛ wɔn no pɛpɛɛpɛ.
And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, went over in array before the children of Israel, as Moses had spoken to them.
13 Saa akofo yi, na wɔn dodow bɛyɛ mpem aduanan a wɔasiesie wɔn ho ama ɔko. Wotwa kɔɔ Yeriko asase so wɔ Awurade anim.
About forty thousand armed for military service passed over before Jehovah to the war, unto the plains of Jericho.
14 Saa da no, Awurade yɛɛ Yosua kɛse wɔ Israelfo no nyinaa anim; na Yosua nna a aka no nyinaa, Israelfo de obu ne nidi maa no sɛnea wɔde obu ne nidi maa Mose no.
On that day Jehovah magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Yosua se,
And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
16 “Hyɛ asɔfo a Awurade apam adaka no so wɔn no sɛ, womfi nsubon no mu hɔ mmra.”
Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.
And Joshua commanded the priests, saying, Come up out of the Jordan.
18 Na bere a asɔfo a wɔso Awurade apam adaka no fii nsubon no mu ara pɛ na Asubɔnten Yordan san ka sram so tɛnn te sɛ kan no.
And it came to pass when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah had come up out of the midst of the Jordan, [when] the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on to the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and they flowed as previously, over all its banks.
19 Ɔsram a edi kan no da ɛto so du no nnipa no foro fii Yordan kɔbɔɔ atenae wɔ Gilgal, Yeriko apuei fam hye so.
And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the eastern extremity of Jericho.
20 Gilgal hɔ na Yosua boaa abo dumien a wɔde fi Asubɔnten Yordan mu bae no ano.
And those twelve stones which they had taken out of the Jordan did Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21 Afei, Yosua ka kyerɛɛ Israelfo no se, “Daakye bi mo mma bebisa se, ‘Saa abo yi kyerɛ dɛn?’
And he spoke to the children of Israel, saying, When your children hereafter ask their fathers, saying, What [mean] these stones?
22 Na mo nso moaka akyerɛ wɔn se, ‘Ɛha ne beae a Israelfo twaa Yordan wɔ asase wosee so no.’
then ye shall let your children know, saying, On dry land did Israel come over this Jordan;
23 Awurade, mo Nyankopɔn, maa asu no yowee wɔ mo anim, na ɔkɔɔ so ma ɛyowee ara kosii sɛ mo nyinaa twae, sɛnea ɔyɛɛ Po Kɔkɔɔ no. Ɔmaa no yowee ara kosii sɛ yɛn nyinaa twae.
because Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye had passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had passed over;
24 Ɔyɛɛ eyi sɛnea aman a wɔwɔ wiase nyinaa behu Awurade tumi na mo nso moasuro Awurade, mo Nyankopɔn, daa nyinaa.”
that all peoples of the earth might know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye might fear Jehovah your God continually.
