< Yohane 12 >
1 Aka nnansia na Twam Afahyɛ no adu no, Yesu kɔɔ Betania, kurow a na Lasaro a Yesu nyan no fii awufo mu no te mu no mu.
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had made to come back from the dead.
2 Wɔtoo Yesu pon. Marta na ɔsomee wɔ saa aponto yi ase. Lasaro tenaa Yesu nkyɛn pɛɛ wɔ ɔpon no ho.
So they made him a meal there, and he was waited on by Martha, and Lazarus was among those who were seated with him at table.
3 Wɔredidi no, Maria faa ngohuam bi a ne bo yɛ den behwie guu Yesu nan ase de ne tinwi pepae. Ngo no hua gyee fie hɔ nyinaa.
Then Mary, taking a pound of perfumed oil of great value, put it on the feet of Jesus and made them dry with her hair: and the house became full of the smell of the perfume.
4 Yuda Iskariot a ɔyɛ asuafo no mu baako a akyiri no obeyi Yesu ama no ani annye nea ɔbea yi yɛe no ho,
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot (who was to give him up), said,
5 enti ɔkae se, “Adɛn nti na woantɔn saa ngohuam yi na yɛamfa sika no amma ahiafo?”
Why was not this perfume traded for three hundred pence, and the money given to the poor?
6 Ɛnyɛ sɛ na odwen ahiafo ho nti na ɔkaa saa asɛm yi, na mmom, na ɔyɛ ɔkorɔmfo, na esiane sɛ na ɔhwɛ asuafo no sika so nti, na owiawia bi.
(He said this, not because he had any love for the poor; but because he was a thief, and, having the money-bag, took for himself what was put into it.)
7 Yesu kae se, “Munnyaa ɔbea yi haw! Nea ɔbea yi ayɛ yi, ɔde asiesie me ama me wu.
Then Jesus said, Let her be. Let her keep what she has for the day of my death.
8 Mo ne ahiafo na ɛwɔ hɔ bere biara, na me de, me ne mo rentena hɔ daa.”
The poor you have ever with you, but me you have not for ever.
9 Bere a Yudafo no tee sɛ Yesu wɔ Betania no, wɔn mu pii kɔɔ hɔ. Ɛnyɛ Yesu nko nti na wɔkɔɔ hɔ, na mmom, wɔkɔɔ hɔ sɛ wɔrekɔhwɛ Lasaro a Yesu nyan no fii awufo mu no nso.
Then a great number of the Jews had news that he was there: and they came, not only because of Jesus, but so that they might see Lazarus who had been dead and to whom he had given life.
10 Afei, asɔfo mpanyin no bɔɔ pɔw sɛ wobekum Lasaro nso,
Now there was talk among the chief priests of putting Lazarus to death;
11 efisɛ esiane Lasaro wusɔre no nti, na nnipa bebree retwe wɔn ho afi Yudafo mpanyin no ho abedi Yesu akyi.
For because of him a great number of the Jews went away and had belief in Jesus.
12 Ade kyee no, nnipadɔm a wɔaba Twam Afahyɛ no tee sɛ Yesu reba Yerusalem no,
The day after, a great number of people who were there for the feast, when they had the news that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 wobubuu berɛw de kohyiaa no kwan de ahurusi teɛteɛɛ mu se, “Hosiana!” “Nhyira nka nea ɔreba wɔ Awurade din mu no!” “Nhyira nka Israelhene!”
Took branches of palm-trees and went out to him, crying, A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!
14 Yesu rekɔ no, na ɔte afurum ba bi so sɛnea Kyerɛwsɛm hyɛɛ ho nkɔm se,
And Jesus saw a young ass and took his seat on it; as the Writings say,
15 “Nsuro, Ɔbabea Sion! Hwɛ sɛ wo hene te afurum ba so reba wo nkyɛn.”
Have no fear, daughter of Zion: see your King is coming, seated on a young ass.
16 Mfiase no, asuafo no ante eyinom nyinaa ase kosii sɛ wɔhyɛɛ Yesu anuonyam no ansa na wɔrekae se, Kyerɛwsɛm no aka saa asɛm yi nyinaa afa ne ho dedaw, na ɛno ara ne nea wɔayɛ no.
(These things were not clear to his disciples at first: but when Jesus had been lifted up into his glory, then it came to their minds that these things in the Writings were about him and that they had been done to him.)
17 Nnipa a na wɔwɔ hɔ a wohuu sɛ Yesu nyan Lasaro fii awufo mu no kaa asɛm a esii no kyerɛɛ afoforo.
Now the people who were with him when his voice came to Lazarus in the place of the dead, and gave him life again, had been talking about it.
18 Eyi nti na nnipa bebree kɔɔ se wɔrekohyia Yesu kwan no, efisɛ na wɔate sɛ wayɛ anwonwade.
And that was the reason the people went out to him, because it had come to their ears that he had done this sign.
19 Farisifo no huu nea ɛrekɔ so no, wɔkae se, “Anyɛ yiye! Monhwɛ sɛ nnipa no nyinaa atu adi nʼakyi!”
Then the Pharisees said one to another, You see, you are unable to do anything: the world has gone after him.
20 Afahyɛbere no mu no, Helafo bi nso kɔɔ Yerusalem sɛ wɔrekɔsom.
Now there were some Greeks among the people who had come up to give worship at the feast:
21 Wɔkɔɔ Filipo a ofi Betsaida no nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Owura, yɛpɛ sɛ yehu Yesu.”
They came to Philip, who was of Beth-saida in Galilee, and made a request, saying, Sir, we have a desire to see Jesus.
22 Filipo kɔbɔɔ Andrea amanneɛ ma wɔn baanu kɔka kyerɛɛ Yesu.
Philip went and gave word of it to Andrew; and Andrew went with Philip to Jesus.
23 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Bere no aso sɛ wɔbɛhyɛ Onipa Ba no anuonyam.
And Jesus said to them in answer, The hour of the glory of the Son of man has come.
Truly I say to you, If a seed of grain does not go into the earth and come to an end, it is still a seed and no more; but through its death it gives much fruit.
25 Obiara a ɔdɔ ne kra no bɛhwere ne nkwa, na nea ɔnnɔ ne kra no benya nkwa a enni awiei. (aiōnios )
He who is in love with life will have it taken from him; and he who has no care for his life in this world will keep it for ever and ever. (aiōnios )
26 Obiara a ɔpɛ sɛ ɔsom me no, ɛsɛ sɛ odi mʼakyi, na baabiara a mewɔ no, ɛsɛ sɛ mʼasomfo nso wɔ hɔ bi.”
If any man is my servant, let him come after me; and where I am, there will my servant be. If any man becomes my servant, my Father will give him honour.
27 Yesu kae se, “Afei de, me kra ho yeraw no na asɛm bɛn na menka? Menka se, ‘Agya, gye me fi saa amanehunu yi mu ana?’ Nanso, eyi nti na wosomaa me baa wiase sɛ mimmehu amane.
Now is my soul troubled; and what am I to say? Father, keep me from this hour. No: for this purpose have I come to this hour.
28 Agya, hyɛ wo din anuonyam!” Ɔkasa wiee no, nne bi fi ɔsoro kae se, “Mahyɛ no anuonyam dedaw na mɛsan mahyɛ no bio.”
Father, give glory to your name. Then there came a voice out of heaven, saying, I have given it glory, and I will give it glory again.
29 Nnipakuw a na wɔwɔ hɔ no tee nne no, wɔkae se aprannaa na ɛrebobɔ mu. Ebinom nso kae se, ɔsoro ɔbɔfo na ɔkasa kyerɛɛ no.
Hearing the sound, a number of people who were there said that it was thunder: others said, An angel was talking to him.
30 Nanso Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Mo nti na saa nne yi kasae na ɛnyɛ me nti.
Jesus said in answer, This voice came not for me but for you.
31 Afei, bere adu sɛ wobu wiase atɛn na wotu ɔbonsam a odi wiase so no gu.
Now is this world to be judged: now will the ruler of this world be sent out.
32 Sɛ wonya ma me so fi asase so a, mɛtwe nnipa nyinaa aba me nkyɛn.”
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will make all men come to me.
33 Ɔkaa eyi de kyerɛɛ owu ko a obewu no.
(This he said, pointing to the sort of death he would have.)
34 Nnipa no kae se, “Kyerɛwsɛm no di adanse sɛ, Agyenkwa no renwu da. Adɛn nti na woka kyerɛ yɛn se, ‘Ɛsɛ sɛ wɔma Onipa Ba no so’. Hena ne saa Onipa Ba no?” (aiōn )
Then the people in answer said to him, The law says that the Christ will have life without end: how say you then that it is necessary for the Son of man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? (aiōn )
35 Yesu buaa wɔn se, “Me hann no bɛhyerɛn ama mo mmere tiaa bi mu. Ɛno nti, monnantew mu bere a mowɔ saa hann no mu yi nkɔ baabiara a mopɛ sɛ mokɔ, ansa na sum aduru; anyɛ saa a morenhu kwan.
Jesus said to them, For a little time longer the light will be among you; while you have the light go on walking in it, so that the dark may not overtake you: one walking in the dark has no knowledge of where he is going.
36 Bere a mowɔ hann mu yi, munnye hann no nni na moayɛ hann no mma.” Yesu kaa nsɛm yi wiee no, ofii hɔ de ne ho kohintawee.
In so far as you have the light, put your faith in the light so that you may become sons of light. With these words Jesus went away and for a time was not seen again by them.
37 Ɛwɔ mu sɛ na Yesu ayɛ anwonwade ahorow ama Yudafo no ahu de, nanso na wonnye no nni ara.
But though he had done such a number of signs before them, they still had no belief in him:
38 Eyi ne Odiyifo Yesaia asɛm a ɔkae se, “Awurade, hena na wagye yɛn asɛnka adi? Na hena nso na Awurade wʼanwonwadwuma no ada adi akyerɛ no?”
So that the words of the prophet Isaiah might come true, when he said, Lord, who has any belief in our preaching? and the arm of the Lord, to whom has it been unveiled?
39 Yudafo no annye anni efisɛ, na Odiyifo Yesaia asan aka se,
For this reason they were unable to have belief, because Isaiah said again,
40 “Onyankopɔn afura wɔn ani, na wapirim wɔn koma, sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a wɔrentumi nnan mma me nkyɛn na masa wɔn yare.”
He has made their eyes blind, and their hearts hard; for fear that they might see with their eyes and get knowledge with their hearts, and be changed, and I might make them well.
41 Yesaia kaa eyi faa Yesu anuonyam a daakye obenya a Onyankopɔn yi kyerɛɛ no no ho.
(Isaiah said these words because he saw his glory. His words were about him.)
42 Mpo, na Yudafo mpanyimfo no mu pii gye Yesu di, nanso na wosuro sɛ, sɛ Farisifo no hu wɔn a, wɔremma wɔmma asɔredan no mu bio.
However, a number even of the rulers had belief in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not say so openly for fear that they might be shut out from the Synagogue:
43 Na wɔpɛ sɛ nnipa bɛkamfo wɔn sen sɛ Onyankopɔn bɛhyɛ wɔn anuonyam.
For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God.
44 Yesu teɛɛ mu se, “Obiara a ogye me di no, ɛnyɛ me nko na ogye me di, na ogye nea ɔsomaa me no nso di.
Then Jesus said with a loud voice, He who has faith in me, has faith not in me, but in him who sent me.
45 Na nea ohu me no hu nea ɔsomaa me no nso.
And he who sees me, sees him who sent me.
46 Maba wiase sɛ hann, na obiara a ogye me di no ankɔ so antena sum mu.
I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who has faith in me will go on living in the dark.
47 “Obiara a ɔte mʼasɛm na onni so no, meremmu no atɛn. Efisɛ mamma sɛ merebebu nnipa atɛn, na mmom, mebae sɛ merebegye wɔn nkwa.
And if any man gives ear to my words and does not keep them, I am not his judge: I did not come to be judge of the world but to give salvation to the world.
48 Obiara a ɔpo me na onnye mʼasɛm nni no, otemmufo bi wɔ hɔ a obebu no atɛn. Me nsɛm a maka akyerɛ mo no na atemmuda no ebebu mo atɛn.
He who puts me on one side and does not take my words to heart, is not without a judge: the word which I have said will be his judge on the last day.
49 Nsɛm a maka no nyinaa, ɛnyɛ mʼankasa mʼadwene na mede ka kyerɛɛ mo, na mmom ɛyɛ nea Agya no ka kyerɛɛ me se menka nkyerɛ mo no.
For I have not said it on my authority, but the Father who sent me gave me orders what to say and how to say it.
50 Minim sɛ asɛm biara a Agya no ahyɛ me sɛ menka no de nnipa kɔ nkwa a enni awiei mu; enti asɛm a ɔbɛka akyerɛ me sɛ menka biara no, ɛno na meka!” (aiōnios )
And I have knowledge that his order is eternal life: so that the things which I say, I say them even as the Father says them to me. (aiōnios )
