Yohane 11
1 Ɔbarima bi tenaa ase wɔ Betania a na wɔfrɛ no Lasaro. Betania yi yɛ kurow a na Maria ne ne nua Marta fi mu. Da bi, saa ɔbarima yi yaree.
Now a certain [man] was sick, [named] Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 Saa Maria yi a ne nuabarima ne Lasaro a na ɔyare no na ohwiee ngo guu Awurade nan ase de ne tinwi pepae no.
(It was [that] Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Anuanom yi soma kɔɔ Yesu nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Awurade, wo dɔfo no yare.”
Therefore his sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 Yesu tee nkra no ɔkae se, “Ɛnyɛ saa ɔyare yi na ebekum Lasaro. Mmom Onyankopɔn pɛ sɛ ɔfa saa ɔyare yi so hyɛ ne ho anuonyam, na saa anuonyam yi bi nso ka Onipa Ba no.”
When Jesus heard [that], he said, This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it.
5 Na Yesu pɛ Maria ne ne nuabea Marta ne Lasaro asɛm yiye.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 Bere a Yesu tee nkra sɛ Lasaro yare denneennen no wankɔ saa bere no ara mu; ɔtenaa hɔ nnaanu.
When therefore he had heard that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Afei ɔka kyerɛɛ nʼasuafo no se, “Momma yɛnsan nkɔ Yudea.”
Then after that he saith to [his] disciples, Let us ho into Judea again.
8 Nanso asuafo no ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kyerɛkyerɛfo, ɛnkyɛe biara na Yudafo no pɛɛ sɛ wosiw wo abo na afei wuse yɛnsan nkɔ hɔ bio yi?”
[His] disciples say to him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Yesu kae se, “Nnɔnhwerew dumien na ɛwɔ da koro mu, meboa ana? Ɛno nti sɛ obi nam hann mu a ɔrenhintiw, efisɛ ɔnam wiase hann mu.
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walketh in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 Nanso sɛ ɔnam anadwo sum mu a obehintiw, efisɛ ɔnam sum mu.”
But if a man walketh in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 Yesu san kae se, “Yɛn adamfo Lasaro ada na merekɔ akonyan no.”
These things he said: and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Asuafo no ka kyerɛɛ Yesu se, “Awurade, sɛ wada de a ɛno de, na ne ho bɛtɔ no.”
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleepeth he will do well.
13 Na Yesu kyerɛ sɛ Lasaro awu nanso asuafo no de, na wosusuw sɛ nna ara na wada.
Now Jesus spoke of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking rest in sleep.
14 Ɛno nti Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn pefee se, “Lasaro awu;
Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 nanso mo nti ɛyɛ me anigye sɛ na minni hɔ sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a mubegye adi. Momma yɛnkɔ ne nkyɛn.”
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go to him.
16 Toma a wɔfrɛ no Ata no ka kyerɛɛ ne mfɛfo asuafo no se, “Momma yɛne Kyerɛkyerɛfo no nyinaa nkɔ na yɛne no nkowu.”
Then said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Yesu duu Betania no na Lasaro awu ama wɔasie no ma adi nnaanan.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Efi Betania rekɔ Yerusalem no nnu akwansin abien,
(Now Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs distant.)
19 na saa bere no na Yudafo bebree aba Marta ne Maria nkyɛn sɛ wɔrebegyam wɔn wɔ wɔn nua no wu no ho.
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Marta tee sɛ Yesu reba no, ofii adi kohyiaa no, na Maria de, ɔtenaa fie.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat in the house.
21 Marta ka kyerɛɛ Yesu se, “Ao, Awurade, sɛ wowɔ ha a anka me nua no anwu!
Then said Martha to Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 Minim mpo sɛ saa bere yi mu biribiara a wubebisa Onyankopɔn sɛ ɔnyɛ mma wo no ɔbɛyɛ.”
But I know that even now, whatever thou wilt ask of God, God will give [it] thee.
23 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Wo nua no bɛsan anya nkwa bio.”
Jesus saith to her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Marta buaa no se, “Awurade, minim sɛ owusɔre da no ɔno nso bɛsɔre.”
Martha saith to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Me na minyan awufo ma wɔn nkwa. Obiara a ogye me di no sɛ wawu mpo a ɔbɛsan anya nkwa.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this? (aiōn g165)
27 Marta buae se, “Awurade, migye midi. Migye di sɛ wone Kristo Agyenkwa a ɔne Onyankopɔn Ba a ɔreba wiase no.”
She saith to him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.
28 Marta kaa saa asɛm yi wiee no, ɔkɔfrɛɛ ne nua Maria de no kɔɔ kokoa mu ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kyerɛkyerɛfo no aba na wabisa wo ase.”
And when she had so said, she went and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 Maria tee saa asɛm yi no ɔyɛɛ ntɛm kohyiaa Yesu.
As soon as she heard [that], she arose quickly, and came to him.
30 Saa bere no na Yesu mmeduu akuraa no ase hɔ ɛ. Na ɔda so wɔ faako a Marta hyiaa no hɔ no.
Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 Bere a Yudafo a wɔne Maria wɔ fie hɔ regyam no no huu sɛ wasɔre mpofirim refi adi no wodii nʼakyi, efisɛ na wosusuw sɛ ɔrekɔ da no so akosu.
The Jews then who were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary that she rose hastily, and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth to the grave to weep there.
32 Maria duu faako a Yesu wɔ no, ɔkotow ne nan ase kae se, “Ao Awurade, sɛ wowɔ ha a anka me nua no anwu.”
Then when Mary had come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 Yesu huu sɛ Maria ne Yudafo a wɔka ne ho no resu no, ɛhaw no yiye na ne werɛ howee.
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled;
34 Obisaa wɔn se, “Ɛhe na musiee no?” Wobuaa no se, “Awurade, bra na yɛnkɔkyerɛ wo.”
And said, Where have ye laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see.
35 Yesu sui.
Jesus wept.
36 Yudafo no huu sɛ ɔresu no wɔkae se, “Eyi kyerɛ ɔdɔ a ɔde dɔ no.”
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 Wɔn mu bi kae se, “Onipa a ɔmaa onifuraefo huu ade no munnnye nni sɛ anka obetumi agye Lasaro nkwa ana?”
And some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Asɛm a nkurɔfo no kaa no maa Yesu werɛ howee. Afei ɔkɔɔ ɔda a wɔde ɔbo ahini ano no so.
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself, cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Yesu hyɛɛ wɔn se, “Munyi ɔbo a ehini ɔda no ano no.” Marta a ɔyɛ owufo no nuabea no kae se, “Awurade, ɛbɛyɛ nnaanan ni a wosiee no nti saa bere yi de, ɔbɔn.”
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith to him, Lord, by this time his body is offensive: for he hath been [dead] four days.
40 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ Marta se, “Manka ankyerɛ wo se sɛ wugye di a wubehu Onyankopɔn anuonyam?”
Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Woyii ɔbo no fii ɔda no ano. Afei Yesu hwɛɛ ɔsoro, bɔɔ mpae se, “Agya, meda wo ase sɛ wutie me.
Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me:
42 Minim sɛ wutie me daa nyinaa nanso esiane nnipa a wɔwɔ ha nti na mereka eyi sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a wobegye adi sɛ wo na wosomaa me.”
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand by, I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Ɔkaa eyi wiee no, ɔteɛɛ mu dennen se, “Lasaro, sɔre bra!”
And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 Lasaro sɔre bae a ntama a wɔde kyekyeree ne nsa ne ne nan ne nʼanim no da so kyekyere no. Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Monsan ne ho ntama no na ɔnkɔ.”
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith to them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Yudafo a wɔbɛsraa Maria na wohuu nea Yesu yɛe no mu bebree gyee no dii.
Then many of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 Na wɔn mu bi nso kɔɔ Farisifo no hɔ kɔkaa nea esii no nyinaa kyerɛɛ wɔn.
But some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Enti Farisifo no ne asɔfo mpanyin no hyiaa baguafo no kae se, “Dɛn na yɛreyɛ? Monhwɛ anwonwade a saa onipa yi reyɛ!
Then the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and said, What do we? for this man performeth many miracles.
48 Sɛ yɛma ɔkɔ so yɛ nea ɔreyɛ yi a, nnipa nyinaa begye no adi na wɔadi nʼakyi. Sɛ ɛba saa a Roma aban bebisa yɛn asɛm na wasɛe yɛn asɔredan ne ɔman mu yi nyinaa.”
If we let him thus alone, all [men] will believe on him: and the Romans will come, and take away both our place and nation.
49 Kaiafa a saa bere no na ɔyɛ ɔsɔfopanyin no kae se, “Mo de munnim hwee!
And one of them, [named] Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Munnim sɛ eye ma mo sɛ onipa baako bewu ama nnipa no nyinaa sen sɛ wɔbɛsɛe ɔman mu no nyinaa?”
Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 Emfi ɔno ankasa ne tumi mu na ɔkaa saa asɛm yi, efisɛ esiane sɛ na ɔyɛ ɔsɔfopanyin saa bere no nti na ɔhyɛɛ nkɔm se, “Yesu bewu de agye mo nkwa,”
And this he spoke not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 na ɛnyɛ wɔn nko, na mmom ɛnam eyi so bɛma Onyankopɔn mma a wɔabɔ ahwete no nyinaa ano aboa na wɔayɛ ɔman baako.
And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Efi saa bere no, Yudafo mpanyin no faa adwene sɛ wobekum Yesu.
Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.
54 Eyi nti Yesu anyi ne ho adi wɔ Yudea, na ofii hɔ kɔɔ sare so kurow bi a wɔfrɛ no Efraim ne nʼasuafo no kɔtenaa hɔ.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence to a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 Na Yudafo Twam Afahyɛ no rebɛn nti nnipa pii fii wɔn nkuraa kɔɔ Yerusalem sɛ wɔrekodwira wɔn ho de atwɛn afahyɛ no.
And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Na wɔrehwehwɛ Yesu ahu no. Ɛno nti woduu asɔredan mu hɔ no, wobisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho se, “Mugye di sɛ Yesu bɛba afahyɛ yi bi ana?” Ebinom kae se, “Yennye nni.”
Then they sought for Jesus, and spoke among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Saa bere yi na asɔfo mpanyin ne Farisifo no ahyɛ sɛ, sɛ obi nim faako a Yesu wɔ a, ɔnkyerɛ na wɔnkɔkyere no.
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show [it], that they might take him.
