1 Me honhom atɔ beraw, me nna so atwa, na ɔda retwɛn me.
My spirit is broken, my days are ended, the last resting-place is ready for me.
2 Ampa ara fɛwdifo atwa me ho ahyia; ɛsɛ sɛ mehwɛ wɔn atutuwpɛ.
Truly, those who make sport of me are round about me, and my eyes become dark because of their bitter laughing.
3 “Ao Onyankopɔn, hyɛ me bɔ a wuhia. Hena bio na ɔbɛma me bammɔ?
Be pleased, now, to be responsible for me to yourself; for there is no other who will put his hand in mine.
4 Wɔato wɔn adwene mu a wɔnte asɛm ase; enti woremma wonni nkonim.
You have kept their hearts from wisdom: for this cause you will not give them honour.
5 Sɛ obi sopa ne nnamfonom de gye akatua a, ɛbɛhwere ne mma aniwa.
As for him who is false to his friend for a reward, light will be cut off from the eyes of his children.
6 “Onyankopɔn de me ayɛ asɛm a ɛda obiara ano, obi a wɔte ntasu gu nʼani so.
He has made me a word of shame to the peoples; I have become a mark for their sport.
7 Awerɛhow ama mʼani ayɛ siamoo me nipadua nyinaa yɛ sunsuma.
My eyes have become dark because of my pain, and all my body is wasted to a shade.
8 Ɛyɛ atreneefo nwonwa; wɔn a wodi bem tia wɔn a wonni nyamesu.
The upright are surprised at this, and he who has done no wrong is troubled because of the evil-doers.
9 Nanso atreneefo bɛkɔ wɔn anim, na wɔn a wɔn nsa ho tew no bɛkɔ so anya ahoɔden.
Still the upright keeps on his way, and he who has clean hands gets new strength.
10 “Mo nyinaa monsan mmra mmɛsɔ nhwɛ! Na merennya onyansafo wɔ mo mu.
But come back, now, all of you, come; and I will not see a wise man among you.
11 Me nna atwa mu, me nhyehyɛe apansam. Nanso me koma apɛde
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the desires of my heart.
12 ma anadwo dan awia; sum mu koraa no hann bɛn.
They are changing night into day; they say, The light is near the dark.
13 Sɛ ofi a mʼani da so nkutoo ne ɔda, sɛ mesɛw me kɛtɛ wɔ sum mu, (Sheol h7585)
If I am waiting for the underworld as my house, if I have made my bed in the dark; (Sheol h7585)
14 sɛ meka kyerɛ porɔwee se, ‘Wo yɛ mʼagya,’ ne osunson se, ‘Me na’ anaa ‘Me nuabea’ a,
If I say to the earth, You are my father; and to the worm, My mother and my sister;
15 na afei mʼanidaso wɔ he? Hena na obetumi anya anidaso bi ama me?
Where then is my hope? and who will see my desire?
16 Ebesian akɔ owu pon ano ana? Yɛn nyinaa besian akɔ mfutuma mu ana?” (Sheol h7585)
Will they go down with me into the underworld? Will we go down together into the dust? (Sheol h7585)
