The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
2 “Sɛɛ na Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn, ka kyerɛ wo, Baruk:
"Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:
3 Wokae se, ‘Nnome nka me! Awurade de awerɛhow aka me yawdi ho; apinisi ne ɔbrɛ ama mʼahoɔden asa.’
'You said, "Woe is me now. For YHWH has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'"
4 Awurade kae se, ‘Ka eyi kyerɛ no: Nea Awurade se ni: Mɛsɛe nea makyekyere na matu nea madua no ase wɔ asase no so nyinaa.
"You shall tell him, 'Thus says YHWH: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.
5 Enti ɛsɛ sɛ wopɛ nneɛma akɛse ma wo ho ana? Nyɛ saa. Efisɛ mede amanehunu bɛba nnipa nyinaa so, Awurade na ose, nanso baabiara a wobɛkɔ no, mɛbɔ wo ho ban.’”
Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says YHWH; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"
