1 Awurade asɛm baa me nkyɛn se:
A message from the Lord came to me, saying,
2 “Onipa ba, ɔkwan bɛn so na bobe dutan so bɛba mfaso asen kwae mu dua foforo biara mman?
“Son of man, is wood from a vine better than the wood from any other tree in the forest?
3 Wotwa dua no bi de yɛ biribi a so wɔ mfaso? Wɔde yɛ pɛe a wɔde nneɛma sensɛn so ana?
Can you make anything useful from vine wood? Can you use it to make even just a peg to hang up pots and pans?
4 Na sɛ wɔde ne nnyina hyɛ ogya mu na eti ne ti hyew ma mfimfini yɛ nso a, so ba mfaso bi ana?
No, you just throw it on the fire to keep the fire burning. Even then the fire burns both ends, but only chars the middle part. Can you use it for anything?
5 Na sɛ so amma mfaso bere a ɛyɛ mua no a, ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na wobetumi de ayɛ ade bi a mfaso wɔ so, bere a ahyew atɔ nso no?
Even before you burned it you couldn't make it into anything useful. It's even less useful once the fire has burned and charred it!
6 “Enti sɛɛ na Otumfo Awurade se: Sɛnea mede bobe dua a ɛfra kwaennua ama sɛ wɔmfa nsɔ ogya no, saa ɔkwan no ara so na mede nnipa a wɔte Yerusalem no nso bɛfa.
So this is what the Lord God says: In the same way that I have taken the wood of a vine from the forest and thrown it on the fire to be burned, so I'm going to throw away the people of Jerusalem.
7 Metu mʼani asi wɔn so. Ɛwɔ mu sɛ wɔafi ogya no mu de, nanso ɛbɛhyew wɔn bio. Na sɛ mitu mʼani si wɔn so a, wubehu sɛ mene Awurade.
I will turn against them. While they might have escaped this fire, another fire is going to burn them up. When I turn against them, then you will know that I am the Lord.
8 Mɛma asase no ada mpan efisɛ wɔanni nokware, Otumfo Awurade asɛm ni.”
I'm going to turn the country into a wasteland, because they were unfaithful to me, declares the Lord God.”
