< 2 Mose 17 >
1 Awurade hyɛe maa Israelfo no fii Sin sare no so kokɔɔ nkurow nkurow so, koduu Refidim. Woduu hɔ no, na nsu a wɔbɛnom biara nni hɔ.
And all the congregation of the sons of Israel journey from the wilderness of Sin, on their journeys, by the command of YHWH, and encamp in Rephidim, and there is no water for the people to drink;
2 Ɛha nso nnipa no nwiinwii bio tiaa Mose sɛ, “Ma yɛn nsu nnom!” Mose ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Monyɛ dinn! Adɛn nti na mo ne me regye akyinnye? Adɛn nti na mopɛ sɛ mosɔ Awurade hwɛ?”
and the people strive with Moses, and say, “Give us water, and we drink.” And Moses says to them, “Why do you strive with me? Why do you try YHWH?”
3 Na osukɔm a ɛde wɔn no nti, wɔteɛteɛɛ mu se, “Adɛn nti na wuyii yɛn fii Misraim? Adɛn nti na wode yɛn baa ha? Yɛn, yɛn mma ne yɛn anantwi nyinaa bewuwu!”
And the people thirst for water there, and the people murmur against Moses, and say, “Why [is] this [that] you have brought us up out of Egypt to put us to death, also our sons and our livestock, with thirst?”
4 Mose su frɛɛ Awurade se, “Dɛn na menyɛ saa nkurɔfo yi? Wɔpɛ sɛ wosiw me abo.”
And Moses cries to YHWH, saying, “What do I do to this people? Yet a little, and they have stoned me.”
5 Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “Fa Israelfo mpanyimfo no bi ka wo ho na fa pema a wode bɔɔ Nil mu no na di wɔn anim fa wɔn kɔ.
And YHWH says to Moses, “Pass over before the people, and take with you from [the] elderly of Israel, and take your rod in your hand, with which you have struck the River, and you have gone.
6 Mehyia wo wɔ ɔbotan a ɛwɔ bepɔw Horeb ho. Sɛ wudu hɔ a, fa wo pema no bɔ ɔbotan no mu sɛnea wode bɔɔ Nil mu no na nsu befi mu aba ama obiara anya bi anom amee.” Mose yɛɛ nea Awurade kae no wɔ Israel mpanyimfo no anim maa nsu tue fii ɔbotan no mu.
Behold, I am standing before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you have struck on the rock, and waters have come out from it, and the people have drunk.” And Moses does so before the eyes of [the] elderly of Israel,
and he calls the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the strife of the sons of Israel, and because of their trying YHWH, saying, “Is YHWH in our midst or not?”
8 Afei, akofo a wofi Amalek bɛtow hyɛɛ Israelfo no so wɔ Refidim ne wɔn koe.
And Amalek comes, and fights with Israel in Rephidim,
9 Mose ka kyerɛɛ Yosua se, “Yi asraafo ma yɛn na yɛne Amalekfo no nkɔko. Ɔkyena megyina bepɔw no apampam a mikura Onyankopɔn pema no.”
and Moses says to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I am standing on the top of the hill, and the rod of God in my hand.”
10 Enti Yosua ne ne dɔm kɔtoaa Amalekfo asraafo no ne wɔn koe sɛnea na Mose ahyɛ no, na Mose ne Aaron ne Hur foro kɔɔ bepɔw no apampam pɛɛ.
And Joshua does as Moses has said to him, to fight with Amalek, and Moses, Aaron, and Hur have gone up [to] the top of the height;
11 Mmere dodow a Mose kura pema no mu kyerɛ soro na Israelfo no redi nkonim na sɛ ɔbrɛ pema no ase a, na Amalekfo no nso redi Israelfo no so.
and it has come to pass, when Moses lifts up his hand, that Israel has been mighty, and when he lets his hands rest, that Amalek has been mighty.
12 Mose brɛ a na ontumi mma pema no so bio enti Aaron ne Hur pirew ɔbo bi too hɔ ma ɔtenaa so. Wogyinagyinaa Mose benkum ne nifa memaa ne nsa abien no so kosii sɛ owia kɔtɔe.
And the hands of Moses [are] heavy, and they take a stone and set [it] under him, and he sits on it, and Aaron and Hur have taken hold on his hands, one on this [side] and one on that [side]; and his hands are steadfast until the going in of the sun;
13 Ɛbaa saa no, Yosua ne ne dɔm dii Amalekfo no so, kunkum wɔn wɔ afoa ano.
and Joshua weakens Amalek and his people by the mouth of the sword.
And YHWH says to Moses, “Write this, a memorial in a Scroll, and set [it] in the ears of Joshua, that I utterly wipe away the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens”;
15 Mose sii afɔremuka hɔ na ɔtoo no din Awurade Nissi a ase ne Awurade ne me frankaa.
and Moses builds an altar, and calls its name YHWH-Nissi,
16 Mose kae se, “Efisɛ wɔama wɔn nsa so atia Awurade ahengua nti, Awurade ne Amalekfo bedi ako afi awo ntoatoaso so akosi awo ntoatoaso so.”
and says, “Because a hand [is] on the throne of YAH, war [is] to YHWH with Amalek from generation [to] generation.”
