< Amos 3 >
1 Muntie saa asɛm a Awurade aka atia mo yi, Israelfo, nea etia abusua a miyii wɔn fii Misraim no nyinaa:
Listen to this message, Israelites, which the Lord has spoken against you, against the whole nation that I brought out of Egypt:
2 “Mo nko ara na mayi mo wɔ mmusua a ɛwɔ asase so nyinaa mu; enti mɛtwe mo aso wɔ mo bɔne nyinaa ho.”
You alone have I cared for of all the nations of the world, this is why I will punish you for your crimes.
3 Nnipa baanu betumi abɔ mu anantew, wɔ bere a wɔnyɛɛ nokoro ana?
Do two walk together unless they agreed to meet?
4 Gyata bobɔ mu wɔ ɔdɔtɔ ase wɔ bere a onhuu hanam biara ana? Ɔbobɔ mu wɔ ne tu mu wɔ bere a ɔnkyeree hanam biara ana?
Does a lion roar in the forest when there is no prey for him? Does a young lion cry out in his den unless he has caught something?
5 Anomaa bɛtɔ afiri mu wɔ fam wɔ baabi a wonsum afiri ana? Afiri huan konkɔn hɔ wɔ bere a enyii aboa ana?
Does a bird swoop down into a trap if no bait is set for it? Does a trap spring up from the ground if nothing sets it off?
6 Sɛ wɔhyɛn torobɛnto wɔ kuropɔn mu a nnipa no ho mpopo ana? Sɛ atoyerɛnkyɛm ba kuropɔn bi mu a ɛnyɛ Awurade na ɔyɛe ana?
Can a trumpet be blown in a city and the people not tremble? Can disaster strike a city and the Lord not have caused it?
7 Ampa ara, Otumfo Awurade nyɛ biribi a ɔnna ne nhyehyɛe adi nkyerɛ nʼAsomafo adiyifo no.
Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing his purpose to his servants the prophets.
8 Gyata no abobɔ mu, hena na onnsuro? Otumfo Awurade akasa, hena na ɔrenhyɛ ho nkɔm?
The lion has roared; who does not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who will not prophesy?
9 Mompae mu nka nkyerɛ Asdod aban ne Misraim aban: “Mommoaboa mo ho ano wɔ Samaria mmepɔw so; hwɛ basabasayɛ a ɛwɔ no so ne nhyɛso a ɛwɔ ne nkurɔfo mu.”
Proclaim over the palaces in Ashdod, and over the palaces in the land of Egypt: Gather upon the mountain of Samaria, and see the violent turmoil, the acts of oppression in her midst.
10 “Wonnim sɛnea wɔyɛ nea eye,” sɛnea Awurade se ni. “Wɔde nneɛma a wɔafow ne nea wɔawia sie wɔ wɔn aban mu.”
For they do not know how to do right. They are heaping up violence and oppression in their palaces, says the Lord.
11 Ɛno nti, sɛɛ na Otumfo Awurade se, “Ɔtamfo bi betwiw afa mo asase no so; Obebubu mo bammɔ agu, na wɔafow mo aban.”
Therefore the Lord God says: An enemy will surround the land, he will strip your strength from you. and your palaces will be looted.
12 Nea Awurade se ni: “Sɛnea oguanhwɛfo gye anan abien nnompe anaa aso sin pɛ fi gyata anum no, saa ara na wobegye Israelfo nkwa, wɔn a wɔtete wɔn mpa ntwea so wɔ Samaria, ne wɔn a wɔdeda nkongua pa mu wɔ Damasko no.”
The Lord says: Just as a shepherd rescues from the jaws of a lion two shinbones or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites living in Sameria will be rescued – with the corner of a couch, and the damask of a divan!
13 “Tie eyi, na di adanse tia Yakobfi,” sɛnea Awurade, Asafo Awurade Nyankopɔn se ni.
Listen and testify against the house of Jacob, says the Lord God, the God of hosts.
14 “Da a mɛtwe Israel aso wɔ ne nnebɔne ho no, mɛsɛe afɔremuka a ɛwɔ Bet-El; wobetwitwa afɔremuka no mmɛn na abu ahwe fam.
On the day when I punish Israel for their crimes, I will also visit in judgment the altars of Bethel, the horns of the altar will be hacked off, and they will fall to the ground.
15 Medwiriw awɔwbere mu ofi ne ahuhurubere mu ofi agu; na afi a wɔde asonse adura ho no wɔbɛsɛe no na afi akɛse no nso wobebubu agu,” sɛnea Awurade se ni.
I will destroy the winter houses together with the summer houses and the houses of ivory will perish. Many great houses will be swept away, says the Lord.
