And the high priest said, Are these things so?
2 Stefano buae se, “Anuanom ne agyanom, muntie me! Ansa na yɛn agya Abraham rebefi Mesopotamia akɔtena Haran no, Onyankopɔn daa nʼanuonyam adi kyerɛɛ no,
And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
3 ka kyerɛɛ no se, ‘Fi wʼabusuafo nkyɛn ne wʼasase so kɔ baabi a mɛkyerɛ wo no.’
and said unto him, Get thee out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
4 “Enti ofii Kaldea asase so kɔtenaa Haran. Abraham agya wu akyi no Onyankopɔn ma ɔbɛtenaa asase a mote so mprempren yi so.
Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran: and from thence, when his father was dead, [God] removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell:
5 Onyankopɔn amfa asase no fa baabiara ankyɛ Abraham sɛ nʼankasa de. Nanso Onyankopɔn hyɛɛ no bɔ sɛ ɛbɛyɛ ɔne nʼasefo nyinaa dea. Bere a Onyankopɔn hyɛɛ Abraham bɔ yi na onni mma.
and he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: and he promised that he would give it to him in possession, and to his seed after him, when [as yet] he had no child.
6 Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ Abraham se, ‘Wʼasefo bɛtena ananafo asase so ayɛ nkoa wɔ hɔ na wɔayɛ wɔn ayayade mfe ahannan.
And God spake on this wise, that his seed should sojourn in a strange land, and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil, four hundred years.
7 Na mɛtwe ɔman a wɔbɛsom wɔn no aso; na ɛno akyi wobefi saa ɔman no mu abɛsom me wɔ ha.’
And the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
8 Onyankopɔn ne Abraham yɛɛ apam na wɔde twetiatwa yɛɛ apam no ho nsɛnkyerɛnne. Eyi nti wɔwoo Isak nnaawɔtwe akyi na wotwaa no twetia; Isak nso twaa Yakob twetia, saa ara na Yakob twitwaa agyanom mpanyin dumien no nso twetia.
And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so [Abraham] begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac [begat] Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
9 “Agyanom mpanyin no ani beree Yosef enti wɔtɔn no ma ɔkɔyɛɛ akoa wɔ Misraim. Nanso esiane sɛ na Onyankopɔn wɔ nʼafa nti
And the patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt: and God was with him,

and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Now there came a famine over all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 Enti bere a Yakob tee sɛ aduan wɔ Misraim no, ɔsomaa ne mma a wɔyɛ yɛn agyanom ma wɔkɔɔ hɔ nea edi kan.
But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers the first time.
13 Wɔkɔɔ ne mprenu so no, Yosef daa ne ho adi kyerɛɛ ne nuanom, na ɛnam so ma Farao huu Yosef abusuafo.
And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s race became manifest unto Pharaoh.
14 Yosef kraa nʼagya Yakob se ɔne nʼabusuafo nyinaa mmra Misraim. Na wɔn nyinaa dodow yɛ aduɔson anum.
And Joseph sent, and called to him Jacob his father, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

And Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died, himself, and our fathers;

and they were carried over unto Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
17 “Bɔ a Onyankopɔn hyɛɛ Abraham no bere redu no, na yɛn nkurɔfo a wɔwɔ Misraim no ase atrɛw.
But as the time of the promise drew nigh, which God vouchsafed unto Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Akyiri no, ɔhene foforo bi bedii ade wɔ Misraim a na onnim Yosef ho asɛm.
till there arose another king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

The same dealt subtilly with our race, and evil entreated our fathers, that they should cast out their babes to the end they might not live.

At which season Moses was born, and was exceeding fair; and he was nourished three months in his father’s house:

and when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was mighty in his words and works.
23 “Mose dii mfe aduanan no, ɔyɛɛ nʼadwene sɛ ɔrekɔsra ne nuanom Israelfo.
But when he was well-nigh forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
24 Oduu hɔ no ohuu sɛ Misraimni bi resisi ne nuanom mu baako bi. Mose kɔboaa ne nua no ma Mose kum Misraimni no.
And seeing one [of them] suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the Egyptian:
25 Mose susuw sɛ nʼankasa nkurɔfo behu sɛ Onyankopɔn nam ne so bɛma wɔade wɔn ho nanso wɔante ase.
and he supposed that his brethren understood how that God by his hand was giving them deliverance; but they understood not.
26 Ade kyee no, ohuu sɛ Israelfo baanu bi reko enti ɔkɔɔ hɔ sɛ ɔrekɔpata. Obisaa wɔn se, ‘Adɛn nti na moatwa mo ho reko? Munnim sɛ moyɛ anuanom ana?’
And the day following he appeared unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
27 “Nea ɔresisi ne yɔnko no sum Mose bisaa no se, ‘Hena na ɔyɛɛ wo yɛn so panyin ne otemmufo?
But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Wopɛ sɛ wukum me sɛnea nnɛra wukum Misraimni no ana?’
Wouldest thou kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Mose tee saa no, otu fii Misraim kɔtenaa Midian asase so. Ɛhɔ na ɔwoo mmabarima baanu.
And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
30 “Mfe aduanan akyi no, ɔbɔfo nam wura bi gyaframa mu yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ Mose wɔ sare bi a ɛbɛn bepɔw Sinai no so.
And when forty years were fulfilled, an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

And when Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold, there came a voice of the Lord,
32 ‘Mene wo agyanom Abraham, Isak ne Yakob Nyankopɔn.’ Ehu kaa Mose nti wantumi anhwɛ.
I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
33 “Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, ‘Worɔw wo mpaboa, efisɛ faako a wugyina no yɛ asase kronkron.
And the Lord said unto him, Loose the shoes from thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
34 Mahwɛ na mahu atirimɔden a wɔde yɛ me manfo a wɔwɔ Misraim no. Mate apini a wɔresi no nyinaa na maba sɛ merebegye wɔn. Yɛ ntɛm na mensoma wo nkɔ Misraim.’
I have surely seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning, and I am come down to deliver them: and now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 “Saa Mose yi ne obi a Israelfo poo no bere a wobisaa no se, ‘Hena na ɔyɛɛ wo yɛn so panyin ne otemmufo no?’ Ɔno na Onyankopɔn nam ɔbɔfo a oyii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ no wɔ nwura a ɛrehyew no gyaframa mu no, yɛɛ no ɔpanyin ne ogyefo.
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? him hath God sent [to be] both a ruler and a deliverer with the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 Ɔno na ɔnam anwonwade ne nsɛnkyerɛnne so yii Israelfo fii Misraim de wɔn twaa Po Kɔkɔɔ no, dii wɔn anim wɔ sare so mfe aduanan no.
This man led them forth, having wrought wonders and signs in Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
37 “Mose yi ara na ɔka kyerɛɛ Israelfo se, sɛnea Onyankopɔn somaa me no, saa ara na obeyi odiyifo a ɔte sɛ me afi mo mu aba mo nkyɛn.
This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me.
38 Ɔno ne obi a ɔne Israelfo yɛɛ nhyiamu wɔ sare no so hɔ; ɔne yɛn agyanom ne ɔbɔfo a ɔkasa kyerɛɛ wɔn wɔ Sinai Bepɔw no so no. Ne nsa kaa Onyankopɔn asɛm a nkwa wɔ mu no de brɛɛ yɛn.
This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us:
39 “Nanso yɛn agyanom antie no. Wɔpoo no pɛɛ sɛ wɔsan kɔ Misraim asase so bio.
to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,
40 Enti wɔka kyerɛɛ Aaron se, ‘Yɛ ahoni bi a wobedi yɛn anim ma yɛn, efisɛ yennim asɛm a ato saa Mose a oyii yɛn fii Misraim asase so no!’
saying unto Aaron, Make us gods which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, which led us forth out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
41 Wɔyɛɛ nantwi ba sɛso honi bi bɔɔ afɔre maa no, gyee wɔn ani sɛnea ɛsɛ.
And they made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
42 Onyankopɔn twee ne ho fii wɔn ho ma wɔsom ɔsoro nsoromma sɛnea wɔakyerɛw wɔ adiyifo nhoma mu se, “‘Israelfo, ɛnyɛ me na mode afɔrebɔde ne ayɛyɛde brɛɛ me mfe aduanan wɔ sare so ana?
But God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, Did ye offer unto me slain beasts and sacrifices Forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
43 Mode mo ho nyinaa ato Molek nyame, ne mo honi Rɛfan so; wɔyɛ ahoni a moayɛ sɛ mobɛsom wɔn. Saa nti mɛpam mo akogu Babilonia akyi.’
And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of the god Rephan, The figures which ye made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 “Saa bere no na ntamadan a edi adanse sɛ Onyankopɔn ka ne manfo ho no ka yɛn agyanom ho wɔ sare so hɔ. Mose sii ntamadan yi sɛnea Onyankopɔn kyerɛɛ no sɛ onsi no no ara pɛ.
Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he appointed who spake unto Moses, that he should make it according to the figure that he had seen.
45 Akyiri no, yɛn agyanom a Yosua dii wɔn anim no de ntamadan no baa asase a Onyankopɔn pam so nnipa de maa wɔn no so. Esii hɔ ara kosii Dawid bere so.
Which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered on the possession of the nations, which God thrust out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
46 Onyankopɔn hyiraa Dawid enti obisaa Onyankopɔn se ɔmma onsi asɔredan mma Yakob Nyankopɔn.
who found favour in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
47 Nanso Salomo na osii dan no maa Onyankopɔn.
But Solomon built him a house.
48 “Nanso ɔsorosoro Nyankopɔn nte ɔdan a nnipa asi mu, sɛnea odiyifo no ka se,
Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in [houses] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 “‘Ɔsoro yɛ mʼahengua, Awurade na ose. Na asase yɛ mʼanan ntiaso. Ɔdan bɛn na wubesi ama me? Na mʼahomegyebea wɔ he?
The heaven is my throne, And the earth the footstool of my feet: What manner of house will ye build me? saith the Lord: Or what is the place of my rest?
50 Ɛnyɛ mʼankasa na meyɛɛ eyinom nyinaa?’
Did not my hand make all these things?
51 “Mo asoɔdenfo, mo a mo koma apirim na muntie Onyankopɔn asɛm. Mote sɛ mo agyanom pɛpɛɛpɛ. Mo nso daa musiw Honhom Kronkron no ho kwan.
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Odiyifo bi wɔ hɔ a mo agyanom antaa no ana? Wokum Onyankopɔn asomafo a wodii kan bɔɔ ɔtreneeni a ɔbɛba no ho dawuru. Saa ara nso na moapa no, akum no.
Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and they killed them which shewed before of the coming of the Righteous One; of whom ye have now become betrayers and murderers;

ye who received the law as it was ordained by angels, and kept it not.

Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;

and they cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 Wɔresiw Stefano abo no nyinaa na ɔrebɔ mpae se, “Awurade Yesu, wo nsam na mede me honhom hyɛ!”
And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [the Lord], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 Afei obuu nkotodwe teɛɛ mu dennen se, “Awurade, fa wɔn bɔne kyɛ wɔn.” Ɔkaa saa no, owui.
And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
