< 2 Samuel 24 >

And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Enti ɔhene no ka kyerɛɛ ne sahene Yoab se, “Kan nnipa a wɔwɔ asase yi so nyinaa, efi Dan a ɛwɔ atifi fam, de besi Beer-Seba a ɛwɔ anafo fam, na ama mahu nnipa dodow a wɔwɔ ha.”
And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the sum of the people.
3 Na Yoab buaa ɔhene no se, “Awurade mma wo ntena ase kosi sɛ nnipa a wɔwɔ wʼahenni yi mu ase bɛterɛw mmɔho ɔha. Na adɛn nti na wopɛ sɛ woyɛ eyi?”
And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 Na ɔhene no hyɛɛ no ketee sɛ, wɔnkan nnipa nti, Yoab ne nʼadwumayɛfo kɔkan nnipa a wɔwɔ Israel.
Notwithstanding the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
5 Nea edi kan no, wotwaa Yordan kɔtenaa Aroer, kurow a ɛwɔ obon no anafo a ɛkyerɛ Gad no. Afei, wɔkɔɔ Yaser,
And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and unto Jazer.
6 toaa so koduu Gilead a ɛwɔ Tatim-hodsi, toaa so kɔɔ Dan Yaan ne Sidon fa mu.
then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Zidon,
7 Afei, wɔbaa Tiro aban mu ne Hewifo ne Kanaanfo nkuropɔn nyinaa mu. Wɔkɔɔ Yuda anafo, koduu Beer-Seba de wiei.
and came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beer-sheba.
8 Wowurawuraa asase no nyinaa so, de asram akron ne nnafua aduonu wiee nnipakan no, san kɔɔ Yerusalem.
So when they had gone to and fro through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Yoab de ne nnipa dodow a wonyae brɛɛ ɔhene no. Na mmarima a wɔadu sogyadi mfe so wɔ Israel no dodow yɛ mpem ahanwɔtwe, na mpem ahannum nso wɔ Yuda.
And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 Dawid kan nnipa no nyinaa wiei no, nʼahonim buu no fɔ, nti ɔka kyerɛɛ Awurade se, “Nea meyɛe yi nti, mayɛ bɔne. Enti Awurade, mesrɛ wo, yi saa afɔbu yi fi wo somfo so. Mayɛ nkwaseade.”
And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: but now, O LORD, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
11 Ade kyee no, Awurade asɛm baa odiyifo Gad a ɔyɛ Dawid ɔdehufo nkyɛn se:
And when David rose up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
12 “Kɔka kyerɛ Dawid sɛ, Sɛnea Awurade se ni: ‘Mede nsɛm abiɛsa reto wʼanim. Yi mu baako na menyɛ ntia wo.’”
Go and speak unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
13 Enti Gad kɔɔ Dawid nkyɛn kobisaa no se, “Ɔkɔm mmra wʼasase yi so mfe abiɛsa ana? Anaa, atamfo a wogu wo so no wubeguan wɔn asram abiɛsa? Anaa, ɔyaredɔm mmra wo man yi mu nnansa? Enti afei, dwene ho yiye, na ma minhu mmuae a memfa nkɔma Awurade.”
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days pestilence in thy land? now advise thee, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
14 Dawid ka kyerɛɛ Gad se, “Yɛwɔ ahohiahia mu. Momma yɛmfa yɛn ho nhyɛ Awurade nsa, efisɛ nʼadɔe dɔɔso; nanso mma me nkɔtɔ nnipa nsam.”
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Enti Awurade tow ɔyaredɔm guu Israel so anɔpa no ma edii nnansa. Na nnipa mpem aduɔson fii Dan kosi Beer-Seba wuwui.
So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.
16 Bere a ɔbɔfo no reyɛ ahoboa akɔsɛe Yerusalem no, Awurade nuu ne ho wɔ asɛm no ho, na ɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Eye! Gyae.” Saa bere no na Awurade bɔfo no adu Yebusini Arauna awiporowbea hɔ.
And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 Bere a Dawid huu ɔbɔfo no, ɔka kyerɛɛ Awurade se, “Me na mayɛ bɔne. Eyinom de wonnim ho hwee, dɛn na wɔayɛ? Ma wo bɔfo nsɛe me ne me fifo.”
And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.
18 Da no, Gad kɔɔ Dawid nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kɔ na kosi afɔremuka ma Awurade wɔ Yebusini Arauna awiporowbea hɔ.”
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 Na Dawid kɔyɛɛ nea Awurade hyɛɛ no sɛ ɔnyɛ no.
And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as the LORD commanded.
20 Bere a Arauna huu sɛ ɔhene ne ne mmarima reba no, opue bɛkotow ɔhene, de nʼanim butuw fam.
And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
21 Arauna bisae se, “Adɛn nti na woaba, me wura?” Dawid buae se, “Merebɛtɔ awiporowbea hɔ, na masi afɔremuka wɔ hɔ ama Awurade, sɛnea Awurade bɛma ɔyaredɔm no agyae.”
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22 Arauna ka kyerɛɛ Dawid se, “Me wura fa na fa yɛ nea wopɛ. Nantwi a wɔde bɛbɔ ɔhyew afɔre ni. Wubetumi de awiporowbea nnua ne nantwi mpamho nnua no ayɛ nnyina wɔ afɔremuka no so.
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, the oxen for the burnt offering, and the threshing instruments and the furniture of the oxen for the wood:
23 Mede ne nyinaa bɛma wo, na mesrɛ se, Awurade, wo Nyankopɔn nnye afɔre yi.”
all this, O king, doth Araunah give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.
24 Na ɔhene no buaa Arauna se, “Dabi da, mepɛ sɛ mɛtɔ, na merentumi mmɔ ɔhyew afɔre mma Awurade, me Nyankopɔn, a mammɔ ho ka biara.” Enti Dawid tuaa dwetɛ bɛyɛ gram ahannum aduoson anum de tɔɔ awiporowbea ne nantwi no.
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will verily buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 Dawid sii afɔremuka wɔ hɔ maa Awurade, na ɔbɔɔ ɔhyew afɔre ne asomdwoe afɔre hɔ. Na Awurade tiee ne mpaebɔ maa ɔyaredɔm no gyaee.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
