< 2 Ahemfo 1 >
1 Ɔhene Ahab wu akyi no, Moabman tew wɔn ho fii Israel ho, nyaa wɔn ahofadi.
And Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 Da bi, Israelhene foforo Ahasia fii nʼabansoro dan a ɛwɔ Samaria ahemfi mfɛnsere mu tew hwee fam, ma opiraa yiye. Enti ɔsomaa abɔfo kɔɔ Baal-Sebub Ekron nyame nkyɛn abisa, kobisaa sɛ obenya ahoɔden ana.
And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber which was in Samaria, and was sick; and he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover from this disease.
Onyankopɔn nni Israel ana?’
And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
Na Elia kɔkaa nkra no.
Now therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die. And Elijah departed.
5 Bere a abɔfo no san baa ɔhene nkyɛn no, obisaa wɔn se, “Adɛn nti na moaba ntɛm saa?”
And the messengers returned to him; and he said to them, Why have ye returned?
6 Wobuae se, “Ɔbarima bi behyiaa yɛn, ka kyerɛɛ yɛn se yɛnsan nkɔ ɔhene nkyɛn, na nkra a ɔde fi Awurade nkyɛn a ɔde kaa ho ne sɛ, ‘Adɛn nti na morekɔ Baal-Sebub, Ekron nyame nkyɛn abisa sɛ ɔhene ho bɛtɔ no ana? Onyankopɔn nni Israel ana? Esiane sɛ woayɛ saa nti, worensɔre mfi mpa a woda so no so da. Na nea ɛbɛyɛ biara, wubewu.’”
And they said unto him, A man came up to meet us, and said to us, Go, return to the king that sent you and say to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
7 Ɔhene no bisae se, “Na saa ɔbarima no yɛ hena? Na ɔte dɛn?”
And he said to them, What manner of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 Wobuae se, “Na ne ho wɔ nwi a ɔbɔ aboanwoma abɔso.” Ɔhene no teɛɛ mu se, “Ɛyɛ Tisbini Elia.”
And they said to him, He was a man in a hairy [garment], and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
Ɔsafohene no ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Onyankopɔn nipa, ɔhene asoma yɛn sɛ yɛmmɛfa wo mmra.”
And he sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and behold, he sat on the top of the mount. And he spoke to him: Man of God, the king says, Come down!
10 Na Elia buaa ɔsahene no se, “Sɛ meyɛ Onyankopɔn nipa de a, ɛno de, ma ogya mfi ɔsoro mmra mmɛhyew wo ne wo mmarima aduonum no!” Na ogya fi ɔsoro bekunkum wɔn nyinaa.
And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, And if I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Enti ɔhene no san somaa ɔsafohene foforo a asraafo aduonum ka ne ho. Ɔsafohene no ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Onyankopɔn nipa, ɔhene se bra mprempren ara.”
And again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he spoke and said to him, Man of God, thus says the king: Come down quickly!
12 Elia buae se, “Sɛ meyɛ Onyankopɔn nipa de a, ɛno de, ma ogya mfi ɔsoro mmra mmɛhyew wo ne wo mmarima aduonum no!”
And Elijah answered and said to them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
Saa bere yi de, ɔsafohene no kobuu Elia nkotodwe. Ɔsrɛɛ no se, “Onyankopɔn nipa, mesrɛ sɛ, fa me ne saa asomfo aduonum yi nkwa kyɛ yɛn.
And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him and said to him, Man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Hwɛ sɛnea ogya fi ɔsoro abɛhyew akuw abien a wodi kan no. Nanso mprempren mesrɛ sɛ, fa me nkwa kyɛ me!”
Behold, there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; but now, let my life be precious in thy sight.
Wo ne no nkɔ.” Na Elia sɔre kɔɔ ɔhene no nkyɛn.
And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him to the king.
Onyankopɔn nni Israel ana? Esiane sɛ woayɛ saa nti, worensɔre mfi mpa a woda so no so da. Na nea ɛbɛyɛ biara wubewu.”
And he said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
Saa asɛm yi sii Yehosafat a na ɔyɛ Yudahene babarima Yehoram adedi mfe abien mu.
And he died according to the word of Jehovah that Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his stead, in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; for he had no son.
18 Nsɛm a esisii wɔ Ahasia ahenni mu no nkae no, wɔankyerɛw angu Israel Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nhoma no mu ana?
And the rest of the acts of Ahaziah, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
