1 Bere a Yehu babarima Yehoahas fii ase dii hene wɔ Israel no, na ɔhene Yoas nso adi ade mfe aduonu abiɛsa wɔ Yuda. Odii ade mfe dunson wɔ Samaria.
In the twenty-third year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda began Joachaz the son of Ju to reign in Samaria, [and he reigned] seventeen years.
2 Nanso ɔyɛɛ bɔne wɔ Awurade ani so. Odii Nebat babarima Yeroboam nhwɛso akyi, toaa ahonisom a odii Israelfo no anim yɛe no so.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked after the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them.
3 Enti Awurade bo fuw Israelfo, na ɔmaa ɔhene Hasael a ofi Aram ne ne babarima Ben-Hadad kwan ma wodii wɔn so mfe bebree.
And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and delivered them into the hand of Azael king of Syria, and into the hand of the son of Ader son of Azael, all their days.
And Joachaz implored the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw the affliction of Israel, because the king of Syria afflicted them.
5 Awurade yii ogyefo bi ma obegyee Israelfo no fii Aramfo nhyɛsotraso no ase. Na Israelfo no tenaa ase ahotɔ mu bio, sɛnea na wɔte kan no.
And the Lord gave deliverance to Israel, and they escaped from under the hand of Syria: and the children of Israel lived in their tents as heretofore.
6 Nanso wɔkɔɔ so yɛɛ bɔne, wodii Yeroboam nhwɛsobɔne no akyi. Na mpo, wosii Asera dua wɔ Samaria.
Only they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin: they walked in them—moreover the grove also remained in Samaria.
Whereas there was not left any army to Joachaz, except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand infantry: for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and they made them as dust for trampling.
8 Yehoahas ahenni mu nneɛma a esisii, dwuma a odii ne nea ne tumidi kɔpem nyinaa, wɔankyerɛw wɔ Israel Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nhoma no mu ana?
And the rest of the acts of Joachaz, and all that he did, and his mighty acts [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9 Bere a Yehoahas wui no, wosiee no wɔ Samaria wɔ ne mpanyimfo nkyɛn.
And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.
10 Yehoahas babarima Yehoas fii ase dii Israel so wɔ bere a na ɔhene Yoas adi ade wɔ Yuda ne mfe aduasa ason so. Odii ade wɔ Samaria mfe dunsia.
In the thirty-seventh year of Joas king of Juda, Joas the son of Joachaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria sixteen years.
11 Na ɔyɛɛ bɔne wɔ Awurade ani so. Wantwe ne ho amfi abosonsom a Nebat babarima Yeroboam dii Israel anim ma wɔyɛɛ no ho.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord; he departed not from all the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin: he walked in it.
12 Yehoas dwuma a odii no nkae wɔ nʼahenni mu ne ne mmaninyɛ nyinaa ne ne tumi a na ɔwɔ no ne ɔko a ɔne Yudahene Amasia koe no, wɔankyerɛw wɔ Israel Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nhoma no mu ana?
And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his mighty acts which he performed together with Amessias king of Juda, [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13 Bere a Yehoas wui no, wosiee no wɔ Samaria wɔ ne mpanyimfo nkyɛn.
And Joas slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne, and he was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Bere a owuyare bɔɔ Elisa no, Israelhene Yehoas kɔsraa no, na osuu no se, “Mʼagya! Mʼagya! Israel nteaseɛnam ne nteaseɛnamkafo!”
Now Elisaie was sick of his sickness, whereof he died: and Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept over his face, and said, [My] father, [my] father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof!
15 Elisa ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Hwehwɛ tadua ne bɛmma.” Na ɔhene no yɛɛ nea ɔkae no.
And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took to himself a bow and arrows.
16 Na Elisa ka kyerɛɛ Israelhene no se ɔmfa ne nsa nto tadua no so. Na Elisa de ɔno ankasa ne nsa too ɔhene no nsa so.
And he said to the king, Put your hand on the bow. And Joas put his hand upon [it]: and Elisaie put his hands upon the king's hands.
17 Afei, ɔhyɛe se, “Bue mfɛnsere a ɛkyerɛ apuei fam no.” Na obuei.
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. And Elisaie said, Shoot. And he shot. And [Elisaie] said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; and you shall strike the Syrians in Aphec until you have consumed them.
18 Afei, tase bɛmma a aka no na totow wowɔ fam.” Enti ɔhene no tasee, na ɔtotow wowɔɔ fam mprɛnsa.
And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took them. And [he] said to the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And the king struck three times, and stayed.
19 Nanso Onyankopɔn nipa no bo fuw no, kae se, “Anka ɛsɛ sɛ wototow sisi fam mpɛn anum anaa asia. Ɛno ansa a na anka wubedi Aram so, kosi sɛ wobɛtɔre wɔn ase. Enti wubedi nkonim mprɛnsa.”
And the man of God was grieved at him, and said, If you had struck five or six times, then you should have struck Syria till you had consumed them; but now you shall strike Syria [only] thrice.
20 Elisa wui, na wosiee no. Na Moabfo afowfo kɔfom asase no so nneɛma afe biara.
And Elisaie died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites came into the land, at the beginning of the year.
21 Bere bi a Israelfo resie obi no, wohuu afowfo bi. Ɛno nti, wɔyɛɛ no ntɛm tow amu no kyenee Elisa ɔboda mu. Amu no kɔkaa Elisa nnompe ara pɛ na owufo no nyanee, huruw gyinaa ne nʼanan so!
And it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold, they saw a band [of men], and they cast the man into the grave of Elisaie: and as soon as he touched the bones of Elisaie, he revived and stood up on his feet.
22 Na Aramhene Hasael hyɛɛ Israelfo so bere a Ɔhene Yehoahas dii ade no nyinaa.
And Azael greatly afflicted Israel all the days of Joachaz.
23 Nanso Awurade huu Israelfo mmɔbɔ nti, wɔn ase antɔre. Esiane apam a na ɔne Abraham, Isak ne Yakob ayɛ no nti, ohuu wɔn mmɔbɔ. Na ebesi nnɛ, ɔmpɛɛ sɛ ɔbɛtɔre wɔn ase, anaa ɔbɛpam wɔn afi nʼanim.
And the Lord had mercy and compassion upon them, and had respect to them because of his covenant with Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob; and the Lord would not destroy them, and did not cast them out from his presence.
And Azael king of Syria died, and the son of Ader his son reigned in his stead.
25 Na Yehoahas babarima Yehoas san kogyee nkurow a Hasael gyigye fii nʼagya Yehoahas nsam no. Yehoas dii Ben-Hadad so nkonim mprɛnsa, nam so gyigyee Israel nkurow no.
And Joas the son of Joachaz returned, and took the cities out of the hand of the son of Ader the son of Azael, which he had taken out of the hand of Joachaz his father in the war: thrice did Joas strike him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.
