1 Ɔhene Hesekia de nokwaredi wiee saa dwumadi yi, Asiriahene Sanaherib bɛtow hyɛɛ Yuda so, dii so nkonim. Otuaa nkurow a wɔabɔ ho ban no, na ɔhyɛɛ nʼakofo sɛ wommubu wɔn afasu no, mmɔ nwura mu.
After these things, and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to make a breach therein for himself.
2 Bere a Hesekia huu sɛ Sanaherib asan ayɛ nʼadwene sɛ ɔbɛtow ahyɛ Yerusalem so no,
And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 ɔne ne mpanyimfo ne nʼasraafo mu afotufo tuu agyina. Wosii gyinae sɛ wobesiw asu a ɛsen fa kuropɔn no akyi no kwan ma wɔboaa no.
he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city; and they helped him.
4 Wɔboaboaa adwumayɛfo ano sɛ wonkosi nsuti kwan na ansen ankɔ mfuw no mu. Na wɔkae se, “Adɛn nti na ɛsɛ sɛ Asiria ahemfo bɛba ha abenya nsu bebree?”
So there was gathered much people together, and they stopped all the fountains, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying: 'Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?'
5 Afei, Hesekia miaa ne bammɔ mu, osiesiee ɔfasu no baabiara a abubu no, na ɔtoo ɔfasu foforo kaa nea ɛwɔ hɔ dedaw no ho. Ɔsan miaa bammɔ a ɛwɔ Milo a ɛwɔ Dawid kuropɔn no mu no mu. Afei ɔyɛɛ akode ne nkatabo bebree.
And he took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and strengthened Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
6 Oyii asraafo mpanyimfo ma wɔhwɛɛ ɔmanfo no so, na ɔhyɛɛ sɛ wommehyia no wɔ kurow no pon ano aguabɔbea hɔ. Na Hesekia kaa nkuranhyɛsɛm kyerɛɛ wɔn se,
And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broad place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying:
7 “Monyɛ den na momma mo bo nyɛ duru. Munnsuro Asiriahene anaa nʼakofodɔm kɛse no, na yɛwɔ tumi a ɛso wɔ yɛn afa.
'Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him; for there is a Greater with us than with him:
8 Ɛwɔ mu sɛ ɔwɔ asraafodɔm kɛse de, nanso wɔyɛ nnipa kɛkɛ. Yɛwɔ Awurade, yɛn Nyankopɔn a ɔbɛboa yɛn adi ako ama yɛn.” Saa nsɛm a Hesekia, Yudahene kae yi hyɛɛ ɔmanfo no nkuran bebree.
with him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles.' And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 Bere a Asiriahene Sanaherib gu so retua Lakis kurow no, ɔsomaa mpanyimfo kɔɔ Yerusalem sɛ wɔmfa saa nkra yi nkɔma Hesekia ne ne manfo a wɔwɔ kurow no mu nyinaa:
After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem — now he was before Lachish, and all his power with him — unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying:
10 “Sɛnea Asiriahene Sanaherib se ni: Dɛn na mode mo ho to so, na ɛma mo susuw sɛ, mubetumi agyina Yerusalem anotua yi ano?
'Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria: Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide the siege in Jerusalem?
11 Hesekia aka se: ‘Awurade, yɛn Nyankopɔn, begye yɛn afi Asiriahene nsam.’ Nokwarem, Hesekia regyigye mo ama ɔkɔm ne osukɔm akum mo!
Doth not Hezekiah persuade you, to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying: The LORD our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12 Nokware, nea ɛsɛ sɛ mote ase ne sɛ, Hesekia no ara na obubuu Awurade nsɔree so ne afɔremuka no nyinaa. Ɔhyɛɛ Yuda ne Yerusalem sɛ wɔnsom wɔ afɔremuka baako pɛ a ɛwɔ Asɔredan no mu no so, na wɔmmɔ afɔre ahorow wɔ ɛno nko ara so.
Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away His high places and His altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying: Ye shall worship before one altar, and upon it shall ye offer?
13 “Nokware, ɛsɛ sɛ muhu nea me ne Asiria ahemfo a wɔaka no ayɛ nnipa a wɔwɔ asase so. Anyame a na wɔwɔ saa aman no so no tumi gyee wɔn nkurɔfo fii me tumi ase ana?
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any wise able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14 Ma nhwɛso baako kyerɛ onyame bi a ɔwɔ baabi a otumi gyee ne nkurɔfo fii me nsam! Dɛn na ɛma wudwen sɛ, wo Nyankopɔn betumi ayɛ ade pa bi?
Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?
15 Mommma Hesekia mmu mo kwasea. Mommma ɔnnaadaa mo saa! Miti mu, ka bio se, ɔman biara anyame ntumi nnyee ne nkurɔfo mfii me anaa mʼagyanom nsam da. Na ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na mo Nyankopɔn agye mo afi me tumi ase!”
Now therefore let not Hezekiah beguile you, nor persuade you after this manner, neither believe ye him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers; how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?'
16 Na Sanaherib mpanyimfo kɔɔ so dii Awurade Nyankopɔn ne ne somfo Hesekia ho fɛw, twaa no adapaa.
And his servants spoke yet more against the LORD God, and against His servant Hezekiah.
17 Ɔhene no san kyerɛw nkrataa de buu Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn animtiaa. Ɔkyerɛw se: “Sɛnea anyame a wɔwɔ aman ahorow so antumi annye wɔn nkurɔfo amfi me tumi ase no, saa ara na Hesekia Nyankopɔn nso bedi nkogu.”
He wrote also a letter, to taunt the LORD, the God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying: 'As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver His people out of my hand.'
18 Asiria mpanyimfo a wɔde krataa no bae no teɛteɛɛ mu de Hebri kasa kaa saa asɛm yi kyerɛɛ nnipa a wɔaboa wɔn ho ano wɔ kurow no fasu fadansin no so, de hunahunaa wɔn, sɛnea wobetumi afa kuropɔn no a wɔremmrɛ ho.
And they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to terrify them, and to affright them; that they might take the city.
19 Saa mpanyimfo yi kasa faa Yerusalem Nyankopɔn yi ho te sɛ abosonsomfo anyame no mu baako a wɔde nnipa nsa na ɛyɛɛ no.
And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men's hands.
20 Ɔhene Hesekia ne Amos babarima odiyifo Yesaia bɔɔ mpae dennen, frɛɛ ɔsorosoro Nyankopɔn no.
And Hezekiah the king, and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.
21 Na Awurade somaa ɔbɔfo, bɛsɛee Asiria asraafodɔm ne wɔn asahene ne wɔn mpanyimfo nyinaa. Na Sanaherib de aniwu san kɔɔ ne kurom. Na owuraa ne nyame abosonnan mu no, ɔno ankasa mmabarima no mu baako twee ne so afoa, kum no.
And the LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22 Saa ɔkwan yi na Awurade faa so de gyee Hesekia ne Yerusalem manfo nkwa fii Asiriahene Sanaherib ne wɔn a wohunahuna wɔn no nyinaa nsam. Enti ɛmaa asomdwoe baa asase no so nyinaa.
Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all, and guided them on every side.
23 Efi saa bere no, aman a atwa wɔn ho ahyia no de obu ne nidi a enni kabea maa ɔhene Hesekia, na wɔde akyɛde bebree a ɛyɛ Awurade dea kɔɔ Yerusalem, na wɔde nneɛma a ɛsom bo kɔmaa Ɔhene Hesekia nso.
And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah; so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 Bere no mu, Hesekia yaree owuyare. Ɔbɔɔ mpae frɛɛ Awurade ma ɔsaa no yare daa nsɛnkyerɛnne nwonwaso bi adi kyerɛɛ no.
In those days Hezekiah was sick even unto death; and he prayed unto the LORD; and He spoke unto him, and gave him a sign.
25 Nanso Hesekia anyɛ adɔe a wɔyɛ kyerɛɛ no no so ade, na mmom, ɔbɛyɛɛ ahantan. Enti Awurade abufuw baa ɔno, Yuda ne Yerusalem nyinaa so.
But Hezekiah rendered not according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up; therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Enti Hesekia nuu ne ho wɔ nʼahantansu no ho, na ɔmanfo a wɔwɔ Yerusalem no nso brɛɛ wɔn ho ase. Ɛno nti, Hesekia nkwanna mu no, Awurade abufuw amma wɔn so.
Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour; and he provided him treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of goodly vessels;
28 Ɔsan sisii adekoradan de nʼatoko, ne nsa ne ne ngo guu mu; osisii buw bebree maa nʼanantwi ne ne nguan ne ne mmirekyi.
store-houses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and flocks in folds.
29 Ɔkyekyeree nkurow pii, pɛɛ nguan ne anantwi bebree, efisɛ na Onyankopɔn ama no ahonya bebree.
Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very much substance.
30 Osiw asuti a na ɛwɔ Gihon atifi fam no, na ɔde nsu no faa ɔdorobɛn mu kɔɔ Dawid kuropɔn no atɔe fam. Na biribiara a ɔyɛe no nso, ɛyɛɛ yiye.
This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 Bere a Babilonia ananmusifo bebisaa nneɛma titiriw a asisi wɔ asase no so no, Onyankopɔn twee ne ho fi Hesekia ho, de sɔɔ no hwɛe, pɛɛ sɛ ohu nea ɛwɔ ne koma mu.
Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that He might know all that was in his heart.
32 Hesekia ahenni ho nsɛm nkae ne nʼahofama no, wɔakyerɛw wɔ Amos babarima odiyifo Yesaia anisoadehu a ɛka Yuda ne Israel ahemfo nhoma ho no mu.
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Bere a Hesekia wui no, wosiee no wɔ adehye amusiei no atifi fam, na Yuda ne Yerusalem nyinaa hyɛɛ no anuonyam wɔ ne wu mu. Na ne babarima Manase, dii nʼade sɛ ɔhene.
And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent of the sepulchres of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
