< 1 Samuel 19 >

1 Saulo hyɛɛ nʼasomfo ne ne babarima Yonatan sɛ wonkum Dawid. Nanso esiane sɛ na Yonatan adamfo pa ara ne Dawid nti,
And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
2 Yonatan kaa adwene a nʼagya ayɛ afa ne ho no kyerɛɛ no tuu no fo se, “Ɔkyena anɔpa, pɛ wuram baabi kɔbɔ wo ho aguaa, efisɛ mʼagya rehwehwɛ wo akum wo.
But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to kill you: now therefore, I pray you, take heed to yourself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide yourself:
3 Mɛka akyerɛ mʼagya, na ɔne me aba hɔ na mɛka wo ho asɛm nyinaa akyerɛ no. Na biribiara a mehu wɔ hɔ no nso, mɛbɔ wo amanneɛ.”
And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will commune with my father of you; and what I see, that I will tell you.
4 Ade kyee anɔpa no, Yonatan ne nʼagya dii nkɔmmɔ faa Dawid ho. Yonatan kaa ne ho nsɛm pa pii. Yonatan srɛɛ nʼagya se, “Mesrɛ wo, nyɛ bɔne biara ntia Dawid. Ɔnyɛɛ biribiara a ɛbɛhaw wo. Daa, ɔfa ɔkwan biara a obetumi so boa wo.
And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been to you-ward very good:
5 Wo werɛ afi bere a ɔde ne nkwa too ne nsam, kokum Filistini no, na ɛnam so maa Awurade de nkonimdi kɛse brɛɛ Israel no? Saa bere no, akyinnye biara nni ho sɛ, wʼani gyei. Adɛn nti na ɛsɛ sɛ wukum onipa a ne ho nni asɛm sɛ Dawid? Nkyerɛase pa biara nni mu koraa.”
For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel: you saw it, and did rejoice: why then will you sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6 Enti Saulo tiee Yonatan, na ɔkaa ho ntam dii nsew se, “Sɛ Awurade te ase yi, wɔrenkum Dawid.”
And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As the LORD lives, he shall not be slain.
7 Akyiri no, Yonatan frɛɛ Dawid kaa asɛm a asi no kyerɛɛ no. Enti ɔfaa Dawid de no kohuu Saulo, na biribiara totɔɔ yiye, sɛnea kan no na ɛte no ara pɛ.
And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
8 Ankyɛ biara na ɔko bi sii, maa Dawid dii nʼakofo anim kɔko tiaa Filistifo. Ɔde anibere toaa wɔn, maa wɔn nyinaa guanee.
And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
9 Nanso da bi, Saulo te fi ara no, honhommɔne a efi Awurade bɛhyɛɛ ne mu prɛko pɛ bio. Bere a Dawid rebɔ ne sanku ama ɔhene no,
And the evil spirit from the LORD was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.
10 Saulo tow ne peaw kyerɛɛ Dawid so, pɛɛ sɛ okum no. Nanso Dawid twee ne ho, totɔɔ esum mu guan maa peaw no kaa ɔfasu no mu.
And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11 Saulo somaa mmarima kɔɔ Dawid fi kɔwɛn hɔ sɛ, opue anɔpa a wonkum no. Nanso Dawid yere Mikal bɔɔ no kɔkɔ se, “Sɛ woanguan ampɛ wo nkwa anadwo yi a, ɔkyena, wobekum wo.”
Saul also sent messengers to David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If you save not your life to night, to morrow you shall be slain.
12 Enti Mikal de Dawid faa mfɛnsere mu ma oguanee.
So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 Na Mikal faa ohoni bi de no too mpa so de atade kataa ho, na ne ti hɔ no nso, ɔde abirekyi ho nwi katae.
And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.
14 Bere a Saulo somaa mmarima sɛ wɔnkɔkyere Dawid no, Mikal ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Ɔyare a ontumi nsɔre mfi mpa so.”
And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15 Saulo san somaa mmarima no bio se, “Monkɔfa no mfi ne mpa so mmra, sɛnea metumi akum no.”
And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
16 Nanso mmarima no wuraa ɔdan no mu no, na ohoni na ɔda mpa no so a abirekyi ho nwi na ɛkata so.
And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster.
17 Saulo bisaa Mikal se, “Adɛn nti na woadaadaa me, ama me tamfo aguan?” Mikal buaa no se, “Na ɛsɛ sɛ meyɛ saa efisɛ ɔka kyerɛɛ me se, ‘Mammoa no a, obekum me.’”
And Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me so, and sent away my enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said to me, Let me go; why should I kill you?
18 Bere a Dawid guanee no, ɔkɔɔ Samuel nkyɛn wɔ Rama kɔkaa nea Saulo ayɛ no no nyinaa kyerɛɛ no. Enti Samuel de Dawid kɔtenaa Naiot.
So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelled in Naioth.
19 Bere a Saulo tee sɛ Dawid te Naiot a ɛwɔ Rama no,
And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
20 ɔsomaa asraafo sɛ wɔnkɔkyere no mmra. Nanso woduu a wohuu Samuel ne adiyifo bi sɛ wɔrehyɛ nkɔm no, Onyankopɔn honhom baa Saulo mmarima no so, maa wɔn nso hyɛɛ nkɔm.
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
21 Saulo tee asɛm a aba no, ɔsan somaa asraafo foforo, nanso wɔn nso kɔhyɛɛ nkɔm! Asɛm koro no ara sii ne mprɛnsa so.
And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.
22 Akyiri yi koraa, Saulo no ankasa kɔɔ Rama, koduu abura kɛse bi a ɛwɔ Seku ho. Obisae se, “Samuel ne Dawid wɔ he?” Obi ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Wɔn baanu wɔ Naiot a ɛwɔ Rama hɔ.”
Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
23 Na ɔrekɔ Naiot no, ɔkwan no so na Onyankopɔn honhom baa Saulo so, na ɔno nso fii ase hyɛɛ nkɔm.
And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 Osunsuan nʼatade mu, de ne ho too fam, daa hɔ da mu ne anadwo mu nyinaa, hyɛɛ nkɔm wɔ Samuel anim. Nnipa a wɔrehwɛ no no teɛteɛɛ mu se, “Asɛm ni? Enti daa yi Saulo nso yɛ odiyifo?”
And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Why they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
