1 Bere a Ɔhene Dawid bɔɔ akwakoraa posoposo no, sɛ wɔde ntama ahe kuru ne ho koraa a, entumi nka no hyew koraa.
Now when King Dauid was olde, and striken in yeeres, they couered him with clothes, but no heate came vnto him.
2 Enti nʼafotufo kae se, “Momma yɛmpɛ ɔbabun bi mma ɔhene na ɔtena ne ho nhwɛ no. Ɔbɛda ne kokom, na ama yɛn wura ɔhene ho ayɛ no hyew.”
Wherefore his seruants saide vnto him, Let there be sought for my lord ye King a yong virgin, and let her stand before the king, and cherish him: and let her lie in thy bosome, that my lord the King may get heate.
3 Enti wokyin ɔman no mu nyinaa, hwehwɛɛ ɔbea hoɔfɛfo bi. Wokonyaa Abisag a ofi Sunam, na wɔde no brɛɛ ɔhene no.
So they sought for a faire young maide thoroughout all the coastes of Israel, and founde one Abishag a Shunamite, and brought her to the king.
4 Na ɔyɛ ɔbabea hoɔfɛfo, na ɔno na ɔbɛhwɛɛ ɔhene. Nanso ɔhene no amfa ne ho anka no.
And the maid was exceeding faire, and cherished the king, and ministred to him, but the King knew her not.
5 Saa bere no mu Dawid babarima Adoniya a na wɔfrɛ ne na Hagit no yɛɛ ahomaso kaa se obesi ne ho hene, ahyɛ nʼagya a wabɔ akwakoraa no anan mu. Enti ɔyɛɛ nteaseɛnam, pɛɛ apɔnkɔ kaa ho. Ɔpɛɛ mmarima aduonum, twee nteaseɛnam no ne apɔnkɔ no dii nʼanim.
Then Adoniiah the sonne of Haggith exalted himselfe, saying, I will be king. And he gate him charets and horsemen, and fiftie men to run before him.
6 Na nʼagya, ɔhene Dawid, nteɛɛ no da, mpo sɛ obebisa no se, “Dɛn na woreyɛ yi?” Na Adoniya yɛ ɔbarima hoɔfɛfo. Ɔno na na odi Absalom akyi wɔ awo mu.
And his father would not displease him from his childehood, to say, Why hast thou done so? And hee was a very goodly man, and his mother bare him next after Absalom.
7 Adoniya gyee Seruia babarima Yoab ne ɔsɔfo Abiatar too mu, na wɔn nso penee sɛ wɔbɛboa no ama wadi ɔhene.
And he tooke counsel of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and of Abiathar the Priest: and they helped forward Adoniiah.
8 Na wɔn a wɔtaa Dawid akyi, na wɔampɛ sɛ wɔboa Adoniya na odi hene no bi ne ɔsɔfo Sadok, Yehoiada babarima Benaia, odiyifo Natan, Simei, Rei ne Dawid ho bammɔfo.
But Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and Nathan the Prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the men of might, which were with Dauid, were not with Adoniiah.
9 Adoniya kɔɔ Sohelet Bo a ɛbɛn En-Rogel asuti ho. Ɛhɔ na ɔde nguan, anantwi ne anantwi mma bɔɔ afɔre. Ɔtoo nsa frɛɛ ne nuabarimanom nyinaa, ɔhene Dawid mmabarima no, ne Yuda adehye mpanyimfo.
Then Adoniiah sacrificed sheepe and oxen, and fat cattel by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the kings sonnes, and al the men of Iudah ye Kings seruants,
10 Nanso wamfrɛ odiyifo Natan anaa Benaia anaa ɔhene ho bammɔfo anaa ne nuabarima Salomo.
But Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah, and the mightie men, and Salomon his brother hee called not.
11 Na odiyifo Natan kɔɔ Batseba a ɔyɛ Salomo na no nkyɛn kobisaa no se, “Wunim sɛ Hagit babarima Adoniya asi ne ho hene a yɛn wura Dawid mpo nnim ho hwee?
Wherefore Nathan spake vnto Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon, saying, Hast thou not heard, that Adoniiah ye sonne of Haggith doeth reigne, and Dauid our lord knoweth it not?
12 Sɛ wopɛ sɛ wunya wo ti didi mu, na wugye wo babarima Salomo nso nkwa a, tie mʼafotu yi.
Now therefore come, and I will now giue thee counsell, howe to saue thine owne life, and the life of thy sonne Salomon.
13 Kɔ ɔhene Dawid nkyɛn ntɛm so, na kobisa no se, ‘Me wura, ɛnyɛ wo na wohyɛɛ me bɔ sɛ, me babarima Salomo na da bi obedi wʼade sɛ ɔhene, na watena wʼahengua no so? Na adɛn nti na Adoniya ayɛ ɔhene?’
Go, and get thee in vnto King Dauid, and say vnto him, Didest not thou, my lorde, O King, sweare vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne? why is then Adoniiah King?
14 Na bere a wugu so ne no rekasa no, mɛba abesi asɛm biara a woaka no so dua.”
Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the King, I also will come in after thee, and confirme thy wordes.
15 Na Batseba kɔɔ ɔhene pia mu. Afei, na wabɔ akwakoraa posoposo a Abisag na na ɔhwɛ no.
So Bath-sheba went in vnto the King into the chamber, and the King was verie olde, and Abishag the Shunammite ministred vnto ye King.
16 Batseba kotow no, na ɔhene no bisaa no se, “Dɛn na menyɛ mma wo?”
And Bath-sheba bowed and made obeisance vnto the King. And the King saide, What is thy matter?
17 Obuaa no se, “Me wura, wugyina Awurade, wo Nyankopɔn, anim hyɛɛ me bɔ sɛ, me babarima Salomo na obedi wʼade, na watena wʼahengua so.
And shee answered him, My lorde, thou swarest by the Lord thy God vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne.
18 Nanso mprempren de, Adoniya na wabɛyɛ ɔhene foforo a mpo, wunnim ho hwee.
And beholde, nowe is Adoniiah king, and now, my lord, O King, thou knowest it not.
19 Ɔde anantwi ne anantwi mma a wɔadodɔ srade ne nguan abɔ afɔre. Na ɔtoo nsa frɛɛ wo mmabarima nyinaa ne ɔsɔfo Abiatar ne Yoab a ɔyɛ asraafo no sahene no. Nanso wanto nsa amfrɛ wo somfo Salomo bi.
And he hath offred many oxen, and fatte cattel, and sheepe, and hath called all the sonnes of the King, and Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the captaine of the hoste: but Salomon thy seruant hath he not bidden.
20 Na me wura ɔhene, Israel nyinaa retwɛn nea wobɛkyerɛ sɛ onni wʼade sɛ ɔhene.
And thou, my lorde, O King, knowest that the eyes of all Israel are on thee, that thou shouldest tell them, who shoulde sit on the throne of my lord the King after him.
21 Na sɛ woanyɛ biribi na sɛ wunya kɔ wo kra akyi pɛ a, wɔbɛyɛ me ne me ba Salomo sɛ amumɔyɛfo.”
For els when my lord the King shall sleepe with his fathers, I and my sonne Salomon shalbe reputed vile.
22 Ogu so ne no rekasa no ara pɛ na, odiyifo Natan beduu hɔ.
And lo, while she yet talked with the King, Nathan also the Prophet came in.
23 Ɔhene afotufo no ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Odiyifo Natan aba ha, na ɔpɛ sɛ ohu wo.” Natan kɔɔ mu kɔkotow ɔhene no.
And they tolde the King, saying, Beholde, Nathan the Prophet. And when he was come in to the King, hee made obeisance before the King vpon his face to the ground.
24 Obisae se, “Me wura, woayɛ wʼadwene sɛ Adoniya na onni wʼade, na ɔntena wʼahengua so ana?
And Nathan saide, My lorde, O King, hast thou said, Adoniiah shall reigne after mee, and he shall sit vpon my throne?
25 Nnɛ, ɔde anantwi, anantwi mma a wɔadodɔ srade ne nguan abɔ afɔre, na ɔtoo nsa frɛɛ wo mmabarima nyinaa maa wɔbaa afahyɛ no ase. Ɔfrɛɛ Yoab a ɔyɛ asraafo so sahene no ne ɔsɔfo Abiatar nso. Merekasa yi, wɔne no redidi, nom, teɛteɛ mu se, ‘Ɔhene Adoniya nkwa so!’
For hee is gone downe this day, and hath slaine many oxen, and fat cattel, and sheepe, and hath called al the Kings sonnes, and the captaines of the hoste, and Abiathar the Priest: and behold, they eate and drinke before him, and say, God saue King Adoniiah.
26 Na me a meyɛ wo somfo no, wanto nsa amfrɛ me; saa ara nso na wamfrɛ ɔsɔfo Sadok, Yehoiada babarima Benaia ne Salomo nso.
But me thy seruant, and Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and thy seruant Salomon hath he not called.
27 Ɛyɛ nokware sɛ me wura ayɛ saa a wamma nʼasomfo no mu biara ante onipa a obedi nʼade sɛ ɔhene no ho hwee?”
Is this thing done by my lord the King, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sitte on the throne of my lorde the King after him?
28 Dawid kae se, “Momfrɛ Batseba mma me.” Na ɔbaa ɔhene anim begyinaa hɔ.
Then King Dauid answered, and saide, Call me Bath-sheba. And shee came into ye Kings presence, and stoode before the King.
29 Na ɔhene hyɛɛ bɔ se, “Mmere dodow a Awurade a ogyee me fii ɔhaw ne abɛbrɛsɛ mu da so te ase yi,
And the King sware, saying, As the Lord liueth, who hath redeemed my soule out of all aduersitie,
30 nnɛ, mehyɛ mmara sɛ, wo babarima Salomo na obedi ade sɛ ɔhene, na ɔbɛtena mʼahengua so, sɛnea mekaa ntam kyerɛɛ wo wɔ Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn, anim no.”
That as I sware vnto thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and hee shall sit vpon my throne in my place, so will I certainely doe this day.
31 Na Batseba san kotow no bio, na ɔteɛɛ mu se, “Me wura, ɔhene Dawid, ntena ase afebɔɔ!”
Then Bath-sheba bowed her face to the earth, and did reuerence vnto the King, and said, God saue my lord King Dauid for euer.
32 Na ɔhene Dawid hyɛɛ se, “Momfrɛ ɔsɔfo Sadok, odiyifo Natan ne Yehoiada babarima Benaia mma me.” Wɔbaa ɔhene anim no,
And King Dauid saide, Call mee Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada. And they came before the King.
33 ɔhene ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Momfa Salomo ne me mpanyimfo no nkɔ Gihon asuti no ho. Salomo ntena mʼafurumpɔnkɔ so.
Then the King said vnto them, Take with you the seruants of your lorde, and cause Salomon my sonne to ride vpon mine owne mule, and carie him downe to Gihon.
34 Ɛhɔ na ɔsɔfo Sadok ne odiyifo Natan bɛsra no ngo sɛ Israelhene. Monhyɛn torobɛnto, na monteɛteɛ mu se, ‘Ɔhene Salomo nkwa so!’
And let Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anoint him there King ouer Israel, and blowe ye the trumpet, and say, God saue king Salomon.
35 Na sɛ mosan de no ba ha a, ɔbɛtena mʼahengua so. Obedi mʼade sɛ ɔhene, efisɛ mayi no sɛ ɔnyɛ ɔhene wɔ Israel ne Yuda so.”
Then come vp after him, that hee may come and sit vpon my throne: and hee shall bee King in my steade: for I haue appointed him to be prince ouer Israel and ouer Iudah.
36 Yehoiada babarima Benaia gyee so se, “Amen! Awurade a ɔyɛ me wura, ɔhene Nyankopɔn no mmara no mmra mu saa.
Then Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada answered the King, and said, So be it, and the Lord God of my lord the King ratifie it.
37 Na Awurade nka Salomo ho sɛnea ɔkaa wo ho no, na Salomo ahenni nyɛ yiye nkyɛn wo de no mpo.”
As the Lord hath bene with my lorde the King, so be he with Salomon, and exalt his throne aboue the throne of my lorde king Dauid.
38 Enti ɔsɔfo Sadok, odiyifo Natan ne Yehoiada babarima Benaia ne ɔhene ho bammɔfo faa Salomo de no kɔɔ Gihon asuti no ho a, na Salomo te ɔhene Dawid afurumpɔnkɔ so.
So Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went downe and caused Salomon to ride vpon king Dauids mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39 Ɛhɔ na ɔsɔfo Sadok faa ngotoa fii ntamadan kronkron mu hɔ behwie guu Salomo tirim. Afei, wɔhyɛn torobɛnto maa nnipa no nyinaa teɛteɛɛ mu se, “Ɔhene Salomo nkwa so!”
And Zadok the Priest tooke an horne of oyle out of the Tabernacle, and anointed Salomon: and they blewe the trumpet, and all the people said, God saue king Salomon.
40 Na nnipa no nyinaa san ne Salomo kɔɔ Yerusalem a wɔrebɔ mmɛn, di ahurusi. Na anigye ne ahosɛpɛw ne nteɛteɛmu no ano yɛɛ den ara kosii sɛ, wɔn nne no wosow asase.
And all the people came vp after him, and the people piped with pipes, and reioyced with great ioye, so that the earth rang with the sound of them.
41 Adoniya ne nʼahɔho tee osebɔ ne nteɛteɛmu bere a wɔreyɛ awie wɔn aponto no. Yoab tee torobɛnto nne no, obisae se, “Na asɛm bɛn na asi? Na adɛn nso na kurow no mu ayɛ gyegyeegye yi?”
And Adoniiah and all the ghestes that were with him, heard it: (and they had made an ende of eating) and when Ioab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, What meaneth this noise and vprore in the citie?
42 Bere a ogu so rekasa no, Yonatan a ɔyɛ ɔsɔfo Abiatar babarima no kɔɔ hɔ. Adoniya ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Bra mu, efisɛ woyɛ onipa papa. Minim sɛ asɛm pa wɔ wʼano.”
And as he yet spake, beholde, Ionathan the sonne of Abiathar the Priest came: and Adoniiah said, Come in: for thou art a worthie man, and bringest good tidings.
43 Yonatan buae se, “Dabi da! Mprempren ara, yɛn wura ɔhene Dawid, asi Salomo ɔhene.
And Ionathan answered, and said to Adoniiah, Verely our lord King Dauid hath made Salomon King.
44 Ɔhene no maa ɔne ɔsɔfo Sadok, odiyifo Natan, Yehoiada babarima Benaia a ɔhene ho bammɔfo rebɔ wɔn ho ban, kɔɔ Gihon asuti ho. Wɔmaa no tenaa ɔhene afurumpɔnkɔ so,
And the King hath sent with him Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they haue caused him to ride vpon the Kings mule.
45 na Sadok ne Natan sraa no ngo sɛ ɔhene foforo. Wɔreba ara ni, na kurow mu no nyinaa agye bum ahokeka so. Gyegyeegye no nkyerɛase ara ne no.
And Zadok the Priest, and Nathan ye Prophet haue anointed him King in Gihon: and they are gone vp from thence with ioy, and the citie is moued: this is the noise that ye haue heard.
46 Afei, mprempren, Salomo te ahengua so sɛ ɔhene.
And Salomon also sitteth on the throne of the kingdome.
47 Adehye mpanyimfo nyinaa kɔɔ ɔhene Dawid nkyɛn, kɔmaa no mo, kae se, ‘Onyankopɔn mma Salomo ahenni nhyeta nkyɛn wo de no, na Salomo ahemman nso nyɛ kɛse nsen wo de no!’ Na ɔhene sii ne ti ase yii Awurade ayɛ, bere a na ɔda ne mpa mu,
And moreouer the Kings seruantes came to blesse our lord King Dauid, saying, God make the name of Salomon more famous then thy name, and exalt his throne aboue thy throne: therefore the King worshipped vpon the bed.
48 na ɔkaa saa nsɛm yi, ‘Nhyira nka Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn, a nnɛ da yi wayi obi sɛ ɔntena mʼahengua so wɔ bere a mete ase, na mihu nea ɛrekɔ so nyinaa.’”
And thus sayd the King also, Blessed bee the Lord God of Israel, who hath made one to sit on my throne this day, euen in my sight.
49 Ɛhɔ ara, Adoniya ahɔho no nyinaa de hu gyee bum, fii aponto no ase, na ntɛm so, obiara kɔɔ ne kwan.
Then all the ghestes that were with Adonijah, were afraide, and rose vp, and went euery man his way.
50 Na Adoniya no ankasa suro Salomo, enti oguan kɔɔ ntamadan kronkron no mu kosusoo mmɛn a esisi afɔremuka no so no mu.
And Adonijah fearing the presence of Salomon, arose and went, and tooke holde on the hornes of the altar.
51 Ankyɛ na Salomo tee sɛ Adoniya akosuso mmɛn a esisi afɔremuka no so, na ɔresrɛ se, “Momma Salomo nsua nkyerɛ nnɛ yi ara, na wankum me!”
And one tolde Salomon, saying, Beholde, Adonijah doeth feare King Salomon: for lo, he hath caught holde on the hornes of the altar, saying, Let King Salomon sweare vnto me this day, that he will not slay his seruant with the sword.
52 Salomo buae se, “Sɛ obedi me nokware de a, wɔrenhaw no. Na sɛ wanyɛ saa de a, wobekum no.”
Then Salomon sayd, If he will shewe him selfe a worthy man, there shall not an heare of him fall to the earth, but if wickednes be found in him, he shall dye.
53 Enti ɔhene Salomo frɛɛ Adoniya, na wɔde no fi afɔremuka no so kɔe. Ɔkotow ɔhene no, na Salomo ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Kɔ fie.”
Then King Salomon sent, and they brought him from the altar, and he came and did obeisance vnto King Salomon. And Salomon sayde vnto him, Go to thine house.
