< 1 Ahemfo 5 >
1 Na Tirohene Huram yɛ ɔhene Dawid adamfo nokwafo, enti bere a ɔtee sɛ wɔasra Salomo ngo sɛ ɔhene sɛ onni nʼagya Dawid ade no, ɔsomaa nʼasomafo kɔɔ Salomo nkyɛn, kɔmaa no tirinkwa.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon: for he heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram had always been David’s friend.
2 Salomo de saa nkra yi maa sɛ wɔnsan mfa nkɔma Huram:
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:
3 “Wo ara wunim sɛ mʼagya Dawid antumi ansi asɔredan anhyɛ Awurade ne Nyankopɔn din anuonyam, esiane akokoakoko a ɔne aman a wɔatwa ne ho ahyia no dii nti. Wantumi anyɛ kosii sɛ Awurade de nʼatamfo hyɛɛ nʼanan ase.
Thou knowest the will of David my father, and that he could not build a house to the name of the Lord his God, because of the wars that were round about him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Nanso mprempren, Awurade, me Nyankopɔn ama me ahotɔ wɔ afa nyinaa, minni ɔtamfo biara na biribiara rekɔ yiye.
But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about: and there is no adversary nor evil occurrence.
5 Ne saa nti, mayɛ adwene sɛ mesi asɔredan ama Awurade, me Nyankopɔn sɛnea Awurade ka kyerɛɛ mʼagya Dawid se me na mɛyɛ no. ‘Wo ba a mede no bɛtena ahengua so, asi wʼanan mu no besi asɔredan ahyɛ me din anuonyam.’
Wherefore I purpose to build a temple to the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spoke to David my father, saying: my son, whom I will set upon the throne in thy piece, he shall build a house to my name.
6 “Ɛno nti, hyɛ ma wonkotwa sida a efi Lebanon mmrɛ me. Me mmarima ne wo mmarima bɛyɛ adwuma, na akatua biara a wubegye ama wɔn no, metua. Wo ara wunim sɛ, obiara nkyɛn Sidonfo wɔ nnuabu mu.”
Give orders therefore that thy servants cut me down cedar trees out of Libanus, and let my servants be with thy servants: and I will give thee the hire of thy servants whatsoever thou wilt ask, for thou knowest how there is not among my people a man that has skill to hew wood like to the Sidonians.
7 Bere a Huram tee Salomo nkra no, nʼani sɔɔ yiye kae se, “Ayeyi nka Awurade nnɛ, efisɛ wama Dawid ɔba nyansafo sɛ ommedi saa ɔman kɛse Israel yi so.”
Now when Hiram had heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced exceedingly, and said: Blessed be the Lord God this day, who hath given to David a very wise son over this numerous people.
8 Enti Huram de nkra kɔmaa Salomo se, “Me nsa aka nkra a wode brɛɛ me no, na mɛyɛ wʼabisade a ɛfa nnua no ho no. Metumi de sida nnua ne ɔpepaw nnua abrɛ wo.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: I have heard all thou hast desired of me: and I will do all thy desire concerning cedar trees, and fir trees.
9 Mʼasomfo de nnua no befi Lebanon mmepɔw so aba Po Kɛse so, na mɛma atentɛn afa po ani sɛnea wɔde ayɛ ɔkorow no, de akɔ baabiara a wobɛkyerɛ. Ɛno akyi no, yɛbɛsan mu na yɛde nnua no abrɛ wo. Wobɛma me fifo aduan, sɛnea mehwehwɛ no.”
My servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea: and I will put them together in floats in the sea, and convey them to the place, which thou shalt signify to me; and will land them there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt allow me necessaries, to furnish food for my household.
10 Huram faa saa ɔkwan yi so maa Salomo sida ne ɔpepaw nnua sɛnea ɔpɛ,
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees, and fir trees, according to all his desire.
11 na Salomo maa Huram fifo atoko tɔn 3,600 ne ngo kronkron galɔn 120,000.
And Solomon allowed Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat, for provision for his house, and twenty measures of the purest oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram every year.
12 Na Awurade maa Salomo nyansa a emu dɔ, sɛnea ɔhyɛɛ no bɔ no. Na Huram ne Salomo yɛɛ asomdwoe apam.
And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they two made a league together.
13 Na ɔhene Salomo kyerɛw adwumayɛfo mpem aduasa a wofi Israel nyinaa din.
And king Solomon chose workmen cut of all Israel, and the levy was of thirty thousand men.
14 Ɔsomaa wɔn akuwakuw kɔɔ Lebanon. Ɔsram biara mu, nnipa mpem du kɔ, sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a, ɔbarima baako biara bedi ɔsram baako wɔ Lebanon, na wadi asram abien wɔ fie. Adoniram na na ɔhwɛ saa adwumayɛfo yi so.
And he sent them to Libanus, ten thousand every month by turns, so that two months they were at home: and Adoniram was over this levy.
15 Salomo nso faa nnesoasoafo mpem aduɔson; faa abopaefo mpem aduɔwɔtwe fi bepɔw asase no so,
And Solomon had seventy thousand to carry burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountain:
16 ne wɔn so sohwɛfo mpem ahaasa ne ahansia a wɔbɛhwɛ adwuma no so.
Besides the overseers who were over every work, in number three thousand, and three hundred that ruled over the people, and them that did the work.
17 Ɔhene no hyɛ ma abotwafo no paee, twaa aboɔdemmo no, yiyii ho sɛnea wɔde bɛhyɛ Asɔredan no fapem.
And the king commanded, that they should bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the temple, and should square them:
18 Mmarima a wofi Gebal kuropɔn mu boaa Salomo ne Huram adansifo no, ma wosiesiee nnua ne abo no maa Asɔredan no si.
And the masons of Solomon, and the masons of Hiram hewed them: and the Giblians prepared timber and stones to build the house.
