< 1 Ahemfo 17 >
1 Afei, Elia a ofi Tisbi a ɛwɔ Gilead no ka kyerɛɛ ɔhene Ahab se, “Mmere dodow a Awurade, Onyankopɔn a mesɔre no som no, Israel Nyankopɔn te ase yi, ɛbɔ rensi, na osu nso rentɔ mfe kakraa bi mu, gye sɛ ɛnam mʼasɛm so.”
Then said Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gil'ad, unto Achab, As the Lord the God of Israel liveth, before whom I have stood, there shall not be in these years dew or rain, except according to my word.
2 Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Elia se,
And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
3 “Kɔ asu Kerit a ɛwɔ apuei fam no a ɛbɔ Asubɔnten Yordan mu no, na kohintaw hɔ.
Go away from here, and turn thyself eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Kerith, which is to the east of the Jordan.
4 Nom asu no mu nsu, na di nea kwaakwaadabi no de bɛbrɛ wo, efisɛ, mahyɛ sɛ wɔmmrɛ wo aduan.”
And it shall be, that out of the brook shalt thou drink; and the ravens have I ordained to sustain thee there.
5 Enti Elia yɛɛ sɛnea Awurade aka akyerɛ no no. Ɔbɔɔ atenae wɔ asu Kerit ho.
And he went and did according to the word of the Lord; and he went and remained by the brook Kerith, that is to the east of the Jordan.
6 Kwaakwaadabi no brɛɛ no brodo ne nam anɔpa ne anwummere biara, na ɔnom nsu fii asu no mu.
And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening: and out of the brook he used to drink.
7 Akyiri no, asu no yowee, efisɛ na osu ntɔ wɔ asase no so baabiara.
And it came to pass after a while that the brook dried up; because there had been no rain in the land.
8 Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Elia se,
And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
9 “Kɔ na kɔtena akuraa Sarefat a ɛbɛn Sidon kurow no mu. Okunafo bi wɔ hɔ a ɔbɛma wo aduan adi. Makyerɛ no nea ɔnyɛ.”
Arise, go unto Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and remain there: behold, I have ordained there a widow-woman to sustain thee.
10 Na Elia kɔɔ Sarefat. Oduu kurow no abɔntenpon no ano no, ohuu okunafo bi a ɔrehwehwɛ mmabaa. Obisaa no se, “Mesrɛ wo, wubetumi ama me nsu kuruwa ma bi?”
So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, there was there a widow-woman gathering sticks of wood: and he called her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 Ɔrekɔsaw nsu no aba no, ɔsrɛɛ no se, “Ɛyɛ a fa brodo sin bi nso ka ho.”
And as she went to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand.
And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have nothing baked, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a cruise: and, behold, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son; and when we have eaten it, we shall have to die.
13 Nanso Elia ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Nsuro! Kɔ na kɔnoa aduan a etwa to no. Nanso ɛyɛ a, to brodo ketewa bi di kan ma me ansa. Na ɛno akyi no, aduan bebree bɛka ama wo ne wo ba no.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said; but make me thereof a little cake at first, and bring it out unto me, and for thee and for thy son shalt thou prepare [something] afterward.
14 Na sɛɛ na Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn ka, ‘Daa asikresiam ne ngo pii bɛka wɔ wo adekorade no mu kosi bere a Awurade bɛma osu atɔ, ama nnɔbae anyin bio.’”
For thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, The jar of meal shall not fail, neither shall the cruise of oil diminish, until the day that the Lord giveth rain upon the face of the earth.
15 Na ɔyɛɛ sɛnea Elia kae no. Enti ɔno, Elia ne ne ba no kɔɔ so dii asikresiam ne ngo a na ɔwɔ no ara nna bebree.
And she went and did according to the word of Elijah: and she, and he, and her household, did eat [many] days.
16 Bere biara na wɔwɔ asikresiam ne ngo a ɛbɛso wɔn di wɔ wɔn adekorade mu sɛnea Awurade nam Elia so hyɛɛ ho bɔ no.
The jar of meal failed not, nor did the cruise of oil diminish, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken through means of Elijah.
17 Akyiri no, ɔbea no babarima no yaree. Ɔyare no kɔɔ so ara kosii sɛ abofra no wui.
And it came to pass after these events, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness became very severe, until that at length there was no breath left in him.
18 Ɔbea no bisaa Elia se, “Onyankopɔn nipa, dɛn na woayɛ me yi? Wobaa ha sɛ worebɛtwe mʼaso wɔ me bɔne a mayɛ ho nti na woakum me ba yi?”
And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O man of God? thou art come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!
19 Nanso Elia ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Fa wo ba no ma me.” Na ogyee abarimaa no fii ne nsam. Ɔde no kɔɔ soro dan bi a wɔsoɛɛ mu no mu. Ɔde owufo no too ne mpa so.
And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the upper chamber, in which he abode, and he laid him upon his own bed.
20 Elia su guu Awurade so se, “Awurade, adɛn nti na wode saa awerɛhow yi abɛto okunafo yi a ɔde ne fi asom me hɔho yi so, na wama ne ba awu yi?”
And he called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
21 Obutuw abofra no so mprɛnsa, su guu Awurade so se, “Ao Awurade, me Nyankopɔn, mesrɛ, ma abofra yi nnya nkwa bio.”
And he stretched himself out over the child three times, and called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, let, I pray thee, the soul of this child return again within him.
22 Awurade tiee Elia mpaebɔ, na abofra no nyaa nkwa bio.
And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah: and the soul of the child returned into him, and he revived.
23 Enti Elia de no fi soro hɔ brɛɛ ne na, ka kyerɛɛ no se, “Hwɛ, wo ba no anyan.”
And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the upper chamber into the house, and gave him unto his mother; and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
24 Na ɔbea no ka kyerɛɛ Elia se, “Afei, mahu pefee sɛ woyɛ Onyankopɔn nipa, na Awurade kasa fa wo so ampa.”
And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this do I know, that thou art a man of God, and the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.
