1 Saa bere no, Yeroboam babarima Abia yaree denneennen.

At that time, fell sick, Abijah son of Jeroboam.

2 Enti Yeroboam ka kyerɛɛ ne yere se, “Sesa wo ho, sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a obiara renhu wo sɛ wone ɔhemmea no. Na kɔ odiyifo Ahiya, ɔbarima a ɔka kyerɛɛ me se medi hene no nkyɛn wɔ Silo.

Then said Jeroboam to his wife—Arise, I pray thee, and feign thyself another, that it be not known, that, thou, art the wife of Jeroboam, —and thou shalt go thy way to Shiloh, lo! there, is Ahijah the prophet, who promised I should be king over this people;

3 Fa brodo mua du, ɔfam ne ɛwo tumpan kɔkyɛ no, na bisa no nea ɛbɛba abarimaa no so.”

and thou shall take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a bottle of honey, and shalt go unto him, —he, will tell thee what shall befall the young man.

4 Na Yeroboam yere no kɔɔ Ahiya fi wɔ Silo. Saa bere no na wabɔ akwakoraa a onhu ade.

And the wife of Jeroboam, did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and entered the house of Ahijah, —now, Ahijah, could not see, for his eyes were fixed, by reason of his old age.

5 Nanso na Awurade aka akyerɛ Ahiya se, “Yeroboam yere bɛba ha, na ɔbɛhyɛ da ayɛ ne ho sɛ obi foforo. Obebisa wo ne babarima no ho asɛm, efisɛ ɔyare denneennen. Sɛ ɛba saa a, fa mmuae a mede bɛma wo no ma no.”

But, Yahweh, had said unto Ahijah—Lo! the wife of Jeroboam, coming to enquire something of thee, concerning her son, for he is sick, thus and so, shalt thou speak unto her, —though, when she cometh in, she feign to be a stranger-woman.

6 Na Ahiya tee ne nan ase wɔ pon ano no, ɔfrɛe se, “Yeroboam yere, bra mu! Adɛn nti na woahyɛ da ayɛ wo ho sɛ obi foforo?” Na ɔka kyerɛɛ no se, “Mewɔ asɛmmɔne ka kyerɛ wo.

So it came to pass, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she entered the doorway, that he said—Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam, —wherefore, is it that thou art feigning to be a stranger-woman, seeing that, I, am sent unto thee, with something hard to bear?

7 Fa saa nkra yi a efi Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn, nkyɛn kɔma wo kunu Yeroboam se, ‘Mepagyaw wo fi mpapahwekwa mu, de wo besii me nkurɔfo Israel so hene.

Go, say to Jeroboam—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the midst of the people, —and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel;

8 Mituu ahemman no ase fii Dawid fi, de maa wo. Nanso woammu wo bra te sɛ me somfo Dawid a odii mʼahyɛde so a ɔde ne koma nyinaa dii mʼakyi, na daa ɔyɛɛ biribiara a mepɛ sɛ ɔyɛ no.

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to thee, —and yet thou hast not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me, with all his heart, to do only that which was right in mine eyes;

9 Bɔne a woayɛ no dɔɔso sen wɔn a wɔtenaa ase ansa na wɔrewo wo no. Woayɛ anyame afoforo ma ɛnam so ama me bo afuw wo, wo sikakɔkɔɔ nantwi mma no nti. Na esiane sɛ woadan wʼakyi akyerɛ me nti,

but hast made wicked thy doings beyond any who were before thee, —and hast gone and made thee ether gods, even molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast, me, behind thy back,

10 mede amanehunu bɛba wo fi ahenni nnidiso so, na mekum wo mmabarima nyinaa, akoa ne nea odi ne ho so nso. Mɛhyew wʼahenni nnidiso no ase, sɛnea obi hyew wura ma ase tu koraa no.

therefore, behold me! bringing misfortune against the house of Jeroboam, and I will cut off the meanest pertaining to Jeroboam, whether shut up or left at large, in Israel, —and will consume after the house of Jeroboam, as one consumeth dung, till it be all gone:

11 Me, Awurade, meka ntam se, wo fifo a wobewuwu wɔ kurow no mu no, akraman na wɔbɛwe wɔn nam, na wɔn a wobewuwu wuram no nso, apete na wɔbɛsosɔw wɔn nam.’”

Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat, —For, Yahweh, hath spoken.

12 Na Ahiya ka kyerɛɛ Yeroboam yere se, “Kɔ fie, na sɛ wuwura kurow no mu ara pɛ a, abofra no bewu.

Thou, therefore, arise, go to thine own house, —as thy feet are entering the city, the young man shall die.

13 Na Israel nyinaa besu no, na wɔasie no. Ɔno nko ne onipa a ofi mo fi a wobesie no yiye, na saa abofra no nko na Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn, hu no sɛ ade pa wɔ Yeroboam fifo nyinaa mu.

Then shall all Israel lament for him, and bury him, for, this one, pertaining to Jeroboam, shall reach a burying-place, —because there hath been found in him something good toward Yahweh, God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Na Awurade bɛpagyaw ne hene a obedi Israel so. Ɔno na ɔbɛtɔre Yeroboam fifo ase. Saa asɛm no besi nnɛ yi ara, saa dɔnhwerew yi ara mu.

Therefore will Yahweh raise up for himself a king over Israel, who will cut off the house of Jeroboam, this day, but why, even now?

15 Na Awurade bɛwosow Israel te sɛ sibiri a ehinhim wɔ asuwa ani. Obetutu Israelfo ase afi saa asase pa a ɔde maa wɔn agyanom no so. Na ɔbɛbɔ wɔn apete, atra Asubɔnten Eufrate, efisɛ wɔnam som a wɔsom Asera nnua no so ahyɛ Awurade abufuw.

Therefore will Yahweh smite Israel, as a reed shaketh in water, and will root out Israel, from off this goodly soil, which he gave unto their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River (Euphrates), —because they have made their Sacred Stems, provoking Yahweh to anger:

16 Ɔbɛto Israel asaworam, efisɛ Yeroboam yɛɛ bɔne, nam so maa Israel nyinaa ne no yɛɛ bɔne.”

That he may deliver up Israel, —on account of the sin of Jeroboam, which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit.

17 Na Yeroboam yere san kɔɔ Tirsa. Na bere a owuraa ne fi no, abofra no wui.

Then arose the wife of Jeroboam, and went her way and entered Tirzah, —as, she, was coming into the entrance hall, the young man died.

18 Bere a Israelfo siee no no, wosuu no sɛnea Awurade nam odiyifo Ahiya so hyɛe no.

And, when they buried him, all Israel lamented him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Yeroboam ahenni ho nsɛm nkae, nʼakodi nyinaa ne ɔkwan a ɔfaa so buu ɔman no nyinaa no, wɔakyerɛw agu Israel Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nhoma Mu.

Now, the rest of the story of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold them! written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

20 Yeroboam dii ade wɔ Israel mfe aduonu abien. Owui no, ne babarima Nadab na odii nʼade sɛ ɔhene.

And, the days which Jeroboam reigned, were twenty-two years, —and he slept with his fathers, and, Nadab his son, reigned, in his stead.

21 Na Salomo babarima Rehoboam na na odi hene wɔ Yuda. Bere a odii ade no, na wadi mfe aduanan baako, na odii ade mfe dunson wɔ Yerusalem, kurow a na Awurade ayi wɔ Israel mmusuakuw no nyinaa mu, sɛ ɔde rehyɛ ne din anuonyam no. Na Rehoboam ne na din de Naama a ɔyɛ Amonni.

And, Rehoboam, son of Solomon, reigned in Judah, —forty-one years old, was Rehoboam when he began to reign, and seventeen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen to put his Name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and, his mother’s name, was Naamah, the Ammonitess.

22 Bere a na Rehoboam di ade no, nnipa a wɔwɔ Yuda no yɛɛ bɔne Awurade anim, maa ne bo fuw wɔ wɔn bɔne no ho. Na saa bɔne no sen nea wɔn agyanom no yɛe mpo.

And Judah did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and provoked him to jealousy, above all that their fathers had done, with their sins which they committed.

23 Wosisii abosomfi, gyinaa dannua a wɔatew ho ne Asera nnua wɔ bepɔw biara so ne dutan frɔmfrɔm biara ase.

And, they also, built for themselves high places and pillars, and Sacred Stems, —upon every high hill, and under every green tree.

24 Mpo, na abosomfi mmarima nguamanfo wɔ asase no so mmaa nyinaa. Nnipa no suasuaa akyiwade ahorow a amanaman a wɔsom abosom no yɛe nti a Awurade pam wɔn fii asase no so maa Israelfo no.

Moreover also, there were, male devotees, in the land, —they did according to all the abominable practices of the nations, which Yahweh dispossessed from before the sons of Israel.

25 Rehoboam dii ade ne mfe anum so no, Misraimhene Sisak bɛtow hyɛɛ Yerusalem so.

And it came to pass, in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem;

26 Ɔbɔ wuraa Awurade Asɔredan no mu ne ahemfi hɔ baabiara, wiaa biribiara a sikakɔkɔɔ akyɛm a Salomo yɛe no ka ho.

and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, yea, the whole, took he away, —and took away all the bucklers of gold, which, Solomon, had made.

27 Akyiri no, Rehoboam yɛɛ kɔbere akyɛm de sii anan, na ɔde hyɛɛ ahemfi awɛmfo no nsa sɛ wɔnhwɛ so.

So King Rehoboam made, in their stead, bucklers of bronze, —and committed them unto the hand of the captains of the runners, who kept guard at the entrance of the house of the king.

28 Bere biara a ɔhene no kɔ Awurade Asɔredan mu hɔ no, awɛmfo no soa kɔ hɔ bi, na sɛ owie na ɔreba a, wɔsan de begu awɛmfo dan no mu.

And so it was, whensoever the king went into the house of Yahweh, the runners bare them, and then brought them back into the chamber of the runners.

29 Na Rehoboam ahenni ho nsɛm nkae no ne dwuma a odii no de, wɔankyerɛw ne nyinaa wɔ Yuda Ahemfo Abakɔsɛm Nhoma no mu ana?

Now, the rest of the story of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

30 Daa na ɔko da Rehoboam ne Yeroboam ntam.

And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, continually.

31 Bere a Rehoboam wui no, wosiee no wɔ nʼagyanom korabea wɔ Dawid kurom. Na ne na din de Naama a ɔyɛ Amonnibea. Na ne babarima a ne din de Abiyam na odii nʼade sɛ ɔhene.

So then Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and, the name of his mother, was Naamah the Ammonitess, —and, Abijah his son, reigned, in his stead.
