< 1 Korintofo 8 >
1 Asɛm a ɛfa nnuan a wɔde ma ahoni ho nso ni: Yenim sɛ, “Yɛn nyinaa wɔ nimdeɛ.” Nanso saa nimdeɛ no ma onipa yɛ ahantan na ɔdɔ ma nkɔso.
Now as concerning things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 Onipa a ogye ne ho di sɛ onim biribi no nnim sɛnea anka ɛsɛ sɛ ohu.
And if any man thinketh that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 Nanso onipa a ɔdɔ Onyankopɔn no, Onyankopɔn nim no.
But if any man loveth God, the same is known by him.
4 Enti nnuan a wɔde ma ahoni sɛ wonni no, yenim sɛ ohoni wɔ hɔ ma biribi a ɛnte ase. Yenim sɛ Onyankopɔn baako pɛ na ɔwɔ hɔ.
Therefore as concerning the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that [there is] no other God but one.
5 Nneɛma bebree wɔ ɔsoro ne asase so a yɛfrɛ wɔn anyame ne awuranom, nanso wɔn mu biara nyɛ anyame anaasɛ awuranom.
For though there are that are called gods, whether in heaven or upon earth, (as there are gods many, and lords many)
6 Yɛwɔ Onyame baako pɛ a ɔyɛ Agya. Ɔno na ɔbɔɔ ade nyinaa, na yɛte ase ma no. Yesu Kristo ne yɛn Awurade a Agya no nam ne so yɛɛ ade nyinaa, na ɔmaa yɛn nkwa.
Yet to us [there is but] one God, the Father, from whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.
7 Nanso ɛnyɛ obiara na onim saa nokwasɛm yi. Nnipa bi de wɔn ho ama ahoni no ara kosi sɛ, sɛ wodi saa nnuan no a wonim pefee sɛ ohoni aduan na wɔredi. Esiane wɔn ahonim a ɛyɛ mmerɛw nti, wogye di nso sɛ aduan no gu wɔn ho fi.
But [there is] not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol to this hour eat [it] as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 Ɛnyɛ aduan a yɛadi no na ɛtwe yɛn bɛn Onyankopɔn. Sɛ yɛanni saa aduan no a, yɛntɔ sin, na sɛ yedi nso a, yɛmmoro so.
But food commendeth us not to God: for neither if we eat, are we the better; neither if we eat not, are we the worse.
9 Monhwɛ yiye na moamma mo ahofadi no antwetwe wɔn a wɔyɛ mmerɛw wɔ gyidi mu no ankɔ bɔne mu.
But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours should become a stumbling-block to them that are weak.
10 Sɛ ɛba sɛ obi a nʼahonim yɛ mmerɛw wɔ saa asɛm yi mu hu sɛ wo a wowɔ “nimdeɛ” redidi wɔ ohoni dan mu a, ɛrenhyɛ no nkuran mma ɔno nso nkodi aduan a wɔde ama ahoni no bi ana?
For if any man shall see thee, who hast knowledge, sit eating in the idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11 Enti saa onipa a ɔyɛ mmerɛw a ɔyɛ wo nua a Kristo wu maa no yi, esiane wo “nimdeɛ” nti ɔbɛyera?
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 Na ɛnam saa ɔkwan yi so bɛma woayɛ bɔne atia wo nuanom. Sɛ ɛba saa a, woyɛ bɔne tia Kristo nso, efisɛ wonam wɔn adwene mu mmerɛwyɛ so adaadaa wɔn.
But when ye thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 Enti sɛ nea midi de me nua kɔ bɔne mu a, merenwe nam bio sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a ɛremma me nua nkɔ bɔne mu. (aiōn )
Wherefore, if food maketh my brother to fall into sin, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to fall into sin. (aiōn )
