Rut 4
1 Bu arada Boaz kent kapısına gidip oturdu. Sözünü ettiği yakın akraba oradan geçerken ona, “Arkadaş, gel şuraya otur” diye seslendi. Adam da varıp Boaz'ın yanına oturdu.
Then Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there: and behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2 Sonra Boaz kentin ileri gelenlerinden on adam topladı. Onlara, “Siz de gelin, oturun” dedi. Adamlar da oturdular.
And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
3 Boaz, yakın akrabadan olan adama şöyle dedi: “Moav topraklarından dönmüş olan Naomi, akrabamız Elimelek'in tarlasını satıyor.
And he said to the kinsman, Naomi, that has come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which [was] our brother Elimelech's:
4 Ben de burada oturanların ve halkımın ileri gelenlerinin önünde bunu satın alman için durumu sana açayım dedim. Yakın akrabalık görevini yapmak istiyorsan, yap. Ama sen akrabalık görevini yerine getirmeyeceksen, söyle de bileyim. Çünkü bu görevi yapmak önce sana düşer. Senden sonra ben gelirim.” Adam, “Yakın akrabalık görevini ben yaparım” diye karşılık verdi.
And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy [it] before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem [it], redeem [it]: but if thou wilt not redeem [it], [then] tell me, that I may know: for [there is] none to redeem [it] besides thee; and I [am] after thee. And he said, I will redeem [it].
5 Bunun üzerine Boaz, “Yalnız, tarlayı Naomi'den satın aldığın gün, ölen Mahlon'un adının bıraktığı mirasla sürmesi için dul eşi Moavlı Rut'u da almalısın” dedi.
Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy [it] also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6 Adam, “Bu durumda yakın akrabalık görevini yapamam; yaparsam kendi mirasımı tehlikeye atmış olurum” dedi. “Bana düşen akrabalık görevini sen yüklen. Çünkü ben yapamam.”
And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem [it] for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem [it].
7 Eskiden İsrail'de akrabalık görevinin yerine getirildiğini ve mülk alım satımının onaylandığını göstermek için taraflardan biri çarığını çıkarıp ötekine verirdi. Alışverişi yasallaştırmanın yolu buydu.
Now this [was the manner] in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for confirming all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave [it] to his neighbor: and this [was] a testimony in Israel.
8 Bu nedenle yakın akrabadan olan adam, “Sen kendin satın al” diyerek çarığını çıkarıp Boaz'a verdi.
Therefore the kinsman said to Boaz, Buy [it] for thyself. So he drew off his shoe.
9 Boaz, ileri gelenlere ve bütün halka, “Elimelek'in, Kilyon ile Mahlon'un bütün mülkünü Naomi'den satın aldığıma bugün siz tanık oldunuz” dedi.
And Boaz said to the elders, and [to] all the people, Ye [are] witnesses this day, that I have bought all that [was] Elimelech's, and all that [was] Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
10 “Mahlon'un dul karısı Moavlı Rut'u da kendime eş olarak alıyorum. Öyle ki, ölen Mahlon'un adı bıraktığı mirasla birlikte sürsün; kardeşlerinin arasından ve yaşadığı kentten adı silinmesin. Bugün siz buna tanık oldunuz.”
Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye [are] witnesses this day.
11 Kent kapısında bulunan bütün halk ve ileri gelenler, “Evet, biz tanığız” dediler. “RAB senin evine gelen kadını, İsrail soyunun o iki ana direğine –Rahel ve Lea'ya– benzer kılsın. Efrat boyunda varlıklı, Beytlehem'de ünlü olasın.
And all the people that [were] in the gate, and the elders said, [We are] witnesses. The LORD make the woman that hath come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:
12 RAB'bin bu genç kadından sana vereceği çocuklarla senin soyun, Tamar'ın Yahuda'ya doğurduğu Peres'in soyu gibi olsun.”
And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.
13 Böylece Boaz, Rut'u kendine eş olarak aldı ve onunla birleşti. RAB'bin kutsamasıyla gebe kalan Rut bir oğul doğurdu.
So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.
14 O zaman kadınlar Naomi'ye, “Bugün seni yakın akrabasız bırakmamış olan RAB'be övgüler olsun. Doğan çocuğun ünü İsrail'de yayılsın” dediler.
And the women said to Naomi, Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15 “O seni yaşama döndürecek, yaşlılığında doyuracak. Çünkü onu, seni seven ve senin için yedi oğuldan bile daha değerli olan gelinin doğurdu.”
And he shall be to thee a restorer of [thy] life, and a nourisher of thy old age: for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him.
16 Naomi çocuğu alıp bağrına bastı ve ona dadılık yaptı.
And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became its nurse.
17 Komşu kadınlar, “Naomi'nin bir oğlu oldu” diyerek çocuğa ad koydular; ona, Ovet adını verdiler. Ovet, İşay'ın babası; İşay ise Davut'un babasıdır.
And the women, her neighbors, gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he [is] the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18 Peres'in soyu şöyledir: Peres Hesron'un babası,
Now these [are] the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,
19 Hesron Ram'ın babası, Ram Amminadav'ın babası,
And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,
20 Amminadav Nahşon'un babası, Nahşon Salmon'un babası,
And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,
21 Salmon Boaz'ın babası, Boaz Ovet'in babası,
And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,
22 Ovet İşay'ın babası, İşay da Davut'un babasıdır.
And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
