1 Yahuda kırlarında bulunduğu zaman - Davut'un mezmuru Ey Tanrı, sensin benim Tanrım, Seni çok özlüyorum, Canım sana susamış, Kurak, yorucu, susuz bir diyarda, Bütün varlığımla seni arıyorum.
“A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.” O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry land, and it is faint without water.
2 Kutsal yerde baktım sana, Gücünü, görkemini görmek için.
As I have beheld thee in the sanctuary, seeing thy strength and thy glory;
3 Senin sevgin yaşamdan iyidir, Bu yüzden dudaklarım seni yüceltir.
Because thy kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee:
4 Ömrümce sana övgüler sunacağım, Senin adınla ellerimi kaldıracağım.
Thus will I bless thee while I live; in thy name will I lift up my hands.
5 Zengin yiyeceklere doyarcasına doyacağım sana, Şakıyan dudaklarla ağzım sana övgüler sunacak.
As with fat and marrow will my soul be satisfied; and with tuneful lips shall my mouth praise thee.
6 Yatağıma uzanınca seni anarım, Gece boyunca derin derin seni düşünürüm.
When I remember thee upon my couch, I meditate on thee in the night-watches.
7 Çünkü sen bana yardımcı oldun, Kanatlarının gölgesinde sevincimi dile getiririm.
Because thou hast been a help unto me; and in the shadow of thy wings will I sing rejoicingly.
8 Canım sana sımsıkı sarılır, Sağ elin bana destek olur.
My soul cleaveth unto following thee: me thy right hand upholdeth.
9 Ama canımı almak isteyenler, Yerin derinliklerine inecek,
But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go down into the lowest deeps of the earth.
10 Kılıcın ağzına atılacak, Çakallara yem olacak.
They shall be delivered up to the power of the sword: they shall become a prey for jackals.
11 Kralsa Tanrı'da sevinç bulacak. Tanrı'nın adıyla ant içenlerin hepsi övünecek, Yalancıların ağzıysa kapanacak.
But the king shall rejoice in God: every one that sweareth by him shall glorify himself; for the mouth of those that speak falsehood shall be stopped.
